Welcome, y’all! Happy Saturday – hope you’ve got something fun planned for the weekend and the weather to let you do it! I think we’re going to make a trip to Costco, and I hope we’re going to go see Mr. Matt Damon in The Martian. I read that book last week – I had to ration myself so it would last…very fast read and I was having fun with it, so I wanted to sit down and devour it, but I also wanted it to LAST!! A conundrum to be sure. Anyway – it’s excellent and if you get a chance to read it, I highly recommend that you do! 🙂
For today’s share, I have a note card holder for you. We made a version of this at the World Card Making Day last weekend. This is what we made….
Cute, huh? Well, I wanted to make a more Christmas-y one, and I wanted it embossed. With my fave TIEF – the wonderful Woodland! I put a tutorial over on my Tutorials Page, so head over and see the detailed instructions for making one of these little guys! If you haven’t been over there, I’ve posted quite a few projects for you to take a look at.
Today’s note card holder uses, as I mentioned, the Woodland TIEF, the stamp set called A Little Something, some Home for the Holidays DSP and a few other little goodies. Take a look-see:
After I built my note card holder using the Square Pillow Box Thinlits and the Woodland TIEF (it’s made with Whisper White Thick Card Stock), I stamped the sentiment from A Little Something in Real Red on a piece of Whisper White card stock. Then I punched it out using my 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. I cut a shiny red mat from a Red Foil Sheet using the 1 7/8″ circle from my Circles Collection Framelits. If I owned the 1 1/2″ punch, I’d have used that – I prefer a thinner mat. (note to self…..! 😉 )
I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiment to the mat and then the whole thing to the front of the note card holder. The cute Reindeer Clip is purely decorative!
To make my cards…..
…I cut three pieces of Whisper White Thick card stock (3″ x 6″, scored and folded at 3″). Each card got a mat of Red Foil, and then a square from the Home for Christmas DSP – all SNAILd to the note cards. The sentiment is from A Little Something, stamped in Real Red, on Whisper White card stock. Each one is cut out with my 1″ Square Punch. I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to make a Red Foil mat 1/8″ bigger all the way around. I again used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiments and the mats together – and then to their card fronts. And that was it – three totally cute note cards to go in my totally cute note card holder!
I took it one more step and added liners to 3 Stampin’ Up! Whisper White Square Envelopes using my Envelope Liner Framelits.
Et Volia.
Tuck the cards and their envelopes into your custom holder… and it’s ready for gifting. These notecards are the perfect size to enclose in a gift package – and we’re for sure headed smack into gift-package-giving season, yes?
I bet you can imagine a bazillion combinations of Designer Specialty Paper for the note cards. Multiple options to decorate the card holder. Go crazy and have fun with it!!
