Good morning, y’all! It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a theme challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table. I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!
The theme this week is very timely – our gardens are starting to wake up and get ready for Spring and summer! I pulled out some beautiful new Thoughtful Journey 6″ x 6″ DSP (available on 1 May!) and used it to create a cool card – using an idea I saw out on Facebook. I added a simple sentiment from the coordinating Thoughtful Wishes stamp set (also available on the first). Take a look-see:
And – here’s our theme!
I’d seen a similar layout on a card created by Wendy WP – she shared it on FB – and I loved it so much I gave it a go!
I started with a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock, cut at 3 3/4″ x 4″. That would be the mat for my DSP strips.
I did some math-ing – and…well, it was a little less accurate than I’d hoped soooo…let me tell you how I ended up doing this. I cut my piece of DSP 3 5/8″ wide and about….3 1/2″ or so long. When I cut it out – I centered the “scene” that I wanted to spotlight my card!
Then – starting at the top of my piece of DSP, I started cutting 1/4″ wide strips – keeping the strips in order as I cut them. When I got 14 strips cut out – I stopped! 🙂
Then, using Liquid Glue – I adhered the strips in order on the Pecan Pie mat. Tip: Adhere the top and bottom strips first – making sure that you have an equal reveal of the mat on three sides. Then add the remainder of the strips – keeping an equidistance between them. Easy!
I popped the completed panel onto the top of a piece of Basic White cardstock using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Below the panel, I added a length of new Petunia Pop 3/8″ Bordered Ribbon (coming on 1 May in the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalog) securing it in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Thoughtful Wishes sentiment in Pecan Pie ink. I matted the sentiment on Pecan Pie and popped it over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies and the card front was done!
On the inside, I stamped a second Thoughtful Wishes sentiment in Pecan Pie on a piece of Basic White cardstock. In the corner, I stamped one of the foliage images in stamped-off-once Petunia Pop ink. I added another Brush Brass Butterfly – cuz I love ’em! And they’re flat…so…they’re perfect! 😎
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Thoughtful Wishes foliage in stamped-off-once Petunia Pop on the front…
..and more of the Thoughtful Journey DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! What a fun thing to do with a perfectly gorgeous piece of DSP like this one in the new Thoughtful Journey 6″ x 6″ DSP pack, don’t you think!? And – there are many designs in the pack that would be gorgeous done up this way! I love the paper – and I love the coordinating Thoughtful Wishes stamp set, just as much. Beautiful foliage and sweet sentiments in beautiful fonts! And…we’re getting so close to you being able to get it all!
