Stampin’ Up! Pelican on a Piling on a Wave of Inspiration

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day!  Hope your week is going well – and that you’re perusing the bundles that are on sale right now along with the Mighty Mini Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine!  And…picking up that Waves of Inspiration collection!

You’re going to want it – so that you can make this card!  You’ll need the Waves of Inspiration Bundle and the gorgeous Waves of the Ocean DSP.  And, don’t forget the amazeballs Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels!  Take a look-see:

My design was a result of the Global Design Project CASE The Designer challenge.

I started by adhering a piece of Waves of the Ocean DSP on the front of a Thick Basic White card base using Liquid Glue.

Then I used some more Liquid Glue to adhere a Paper Lattice on an angle.

I placed a Basic White panel into my Stamparatus and then used Sponge Daubers to color the large wave from Waves of Inspiration.  I started with Coastal Cabana.  Then I cleaned the stamp and inked it with Pacific Point.  I cleaned it a final time and then used Granny Apple Green on just a FEW spots on the stamp.

I used one of the wave dies in the Waves Die set to cut a piece of Waves of the Ocean DSP.  Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the die cut wave right in the corner of the stamped wave.

I placed a Rectangle Stitched Die onto the panel – tucking the corner of the stamped wave in the bottom left corner of the die – then ran it thru my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine to cut a 2 5/8″ x 4″ rectangle.

I stamped a few birds in Pacific Point and then adhered the panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a double-loop Linen Thread bow….

  1. Wrap the Linen Thread around four fingers four times.
  2. Without cutting the thread, wrap around two fingers four times.
  3. Pull the loops off and squeeze the loops together.
  4. Twist the loops one time around to create a “figure 8”.
  5. Tie a second short length of Thread around the loops in the middle.
  6. Spread the loops out to create a bow.

…and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the pelican-on-a-piling image from Waves of Inspiration in Soft Suede.  I used the matching die from the Waves Dies to cut out the bird and his perch, then used double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the die cut shape over the bow.

I stamped the Waves of Inspiration sentiment in Pacific Point on a strip of Basic White, snipped banners in both ends and then used double-stacked Dimensionals to adhere it to the card front.

I added a few Granny Apple Green Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped the pelican in Soft Suede on a Basic White panel and added some of the birds in Pacific Point.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pacific Point mat and into the Thick Basic White card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the pelican and birds on the front…

…and more of the Waves of the Ocean DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I love this little guy – perched on his piling.  Pretty sure he’s searching for a snack!  The Waves of Inspiration stamp set, with the bundled Waves Die set, is just wonderful – I can think of so many ways to color that wave!  Bright and sunny – dark and stormy!  And the Waves of the Ocean DSP – a LIMITED time product (along with the Blue Foil Specialty Paper and Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels) is…stunning.

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

It’s “that” time of year at the Deatherage…farm?  Ranch?  Holding?  House with some land around it?

That time is seed starting time!

We ramped it up a little this year!

Over the weekend, we planted seven trays in chile peppers, tomatoes, kale, lettuce, mustard, collards, and some other stuff I’ve forgotten!

We turned the heat up a bit in the room to accommodate the little seed babies and that made it way too hot for the Finn.  He politely requested to go outside where it was…cold.

Human cold.  Not Aussie cold!

We got them all done and tucked in to their darkened shelves.

And found Finn.

On his favorite spot.  Just waiting! 🙂
