Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Nativity Rejoice for Christmas – and a Blog Candy Winner!

Oh.  My.  Goodness.  It’s DECEMBER, y’all!  Can you believe that?  Which means less than a month away from Christmas!!

And – we’re less than a month from the Reason for the Season  – which I am really celebrating with today’s card from the Peaceful Nativity Bundle and some shiny Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s FUSION challenge – the sketch side!

I started with a piece of non-foil paper from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP that I matted on Crumb Cake for the card front.

The next layer is a second (foiled) piece of Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP, actually the reverse side of the first piece!  I matted it first on some Bronze Brushed Metallic Cardstock then on a piece of Crumb Cake.  I adhered the matted panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I inked up the manger and stable-front images from the Peaceful Nativity stamp set in Early Espresso and stamped them on Crumb Cake, then cut them with their matching die in the Nativity Die set.  While I was cutting, I cut five palm trees and the stable “walls and back” using the appropriate dies in the set.

I colored the palm trees with my Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and Mossy Meadows Stampin’ Blend Combo – then I adhered four of them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I colored the die cut stable walls and back with my Dark Crumb Cake Blend and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I colored the thatched roof of the stable-front with my Bumble Bee Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it over the first stable die with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I colored the Nativity using the Dark Crumb Cake Blend for the manger, Light Soft Suede Blend for Joseph’s robe and hair, Light Blackberry Bliss for Mary’s robe, and the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker for the swaddling.  I colored Joseph’s staff with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write marker and the hay in the manger with the Bumble Bee Stampin’ Write Marker.

I popped the nativity onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

With the large star die in the Nativity Dies I cut a star from the Mango Melody section of a piece of Rainbow Glimmer Paper and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I tied a Linen Thread Double-loop bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On another piece of Crumb Cake, I stamped the Peaceful Nativity sentiment in Early Espresso and cut it with the smallest rectangle die in the Stitched So Sweetly die set.

I stacked three Stampin’ Dimensionals on the bottom right corner of the sentiment, placed a Glue Dot on the linen bow – and adhered the sentiment over the bow.  And…the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Peaceful Nativity sentiment in Early Espresso onto a Very Vanilla panel.  Above the sentiment, I stamped the large star from Peaceful Nativity in Mango Melody.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crumb Cake mat and then into my Night of Navy card base, adhered the card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got five of the large Peaceful Nativity stars on the front in Mango Melody….

…and more of the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Peaceful Nativity stamp set, with the bundled Nativity Dies, has all the components for you to create gorgeous nativity scenes for your Christmas cards!

Blog Candy Winner!

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to tell us what makes you thankful this year.  It’s been a rough one – so…it was nice to be able to read your uplifting stories!  Folks are universally grateful for their health – and the health of their families.  Many were grateful for our First Responders and the front-line caregivers risking their own health to care for loved ones.  And – a lot of you are grateful for Stampin’ Up! and the creative, stress-reducing outlet that it provides!  I was so happy to read everyone’s comments! Thank you all!

So – I put the digits into Random.org and it did it’s computer thing and…out came…Comment #5!

Comment #5 was from Barb E, who wrote:

“I am thankful for family, first and also for the many brilliant scientists all over the world working on an effective vaccine for COVID-10. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones! Thank you for this generous giveaway!”

Yeah!  Barb – I’ll be sending a message shortly so I can get your mailing address and then I’ll get your Jolly Gingerbread kit in the mail to you ASAP!

Again – thank you all – and…have a wonderful week! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

Winter has come to Georgia.

Yes – last night was a hard freeze – down to 25F.

Yea yea – I know.  We’re wussies.  Y’all who live up in the great white frozen tundra just….shush now!

We live in the SOUTH – on purpose!  25 is TOO cold.  Sleet coming down is yucky.

Only the Finnster and the pony-girls are happy.  Mama… not so much.  😉

In preparation for the Big Freeze – I pulled all the remaining peppers and tomatoes out of the garden.

It was a pretty bountiful “last harvest”!

We also turned out my two potato bags.

I think the picture tells the story. 🙁

Pretty stinkin’ sparse.  I mean – that was IT!  We had lots of leaves and it looked like it had gone great guns.

But…nope.

Also?  They don’t taste good at all.

Darned good thing we weren’t counting on a bountiful potato harvest to see us thru the winter, huh?

Pretty disappointing.
