Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Thistle Framed Florets Thinking of You Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Friday! Do you have some fun plans for the weekend?!  We’re going out to dinner tonight with some friends, so I’m looking forward to that!

One of the new bundles in the Jan – Apr 2023 Mini Catalog is called the Beautiful Thistle set.  And it’s gorgeous!  For today’s card, I paired it with the Framed Florets die set and the pretty Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Take a look-see:

I started by adhering a piece of Fancy Flora DSP to an Orchid Oasis mat for the card front.  Using a strip of Stampin’ Seal + right down the middle, I adhered a smaller panel of Vellum Basics Specialty DSP (I was hiding the adhesive where I knew it would be covered by the front elements.

Using the Framed Florets Dies, I cut a large Balmy Blue frame and the smaller frame from Basic White cardstock. I adhered the Balmy Blue frame with Liquid Glue and then added the white frame over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the large flower from the Beautiful Thistle set in Night of Navy ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock – and the small flower twice.  Then I cut them both out with the coordinating Beautiful Thistle dies.

I colored all three flowers with the Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencils.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue to adhere the three flowers to the card front.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Beautiful Thistle sentiment in Orchid Oasis and cut it with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die.

I used a little Liquid Glue – and a Stampin’ Dimensional on the right end of the sentiment to adhere it to the card front.

Using scunched-up Glue Dots, I adhered three sweet Dragonfly Trinkets – and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second Beautiful Thistle sentiment in Orchid Oasis and the small flower twice in Night of Navy on a Basic White panel.  Then I colored the flowers with the Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana Watercolor Pencils.

I used Stampin’ Seal+ to adhere the panel to an Orchid Oasis mat and into my Balmy Blue card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the two Beautiful Thistle flowers on the front…

…and more of the Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Y’all – I liked this bundle from the jump!  And now that I’ve USED it – I LOVE the Beautiful Thistle Bundle!  And I really love the pretty blues and purples inspired by the Fancy Flora 6″ x 6″ DSP, dont’ you?!  Don’t forget about the pretty Framed Florets dies, okay?  It’s a great layering element for all your projects!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

We had a bit of a weather emergency yesterday afternoon.  Long-track tornadoes started in AL and trekked their way across the state, into GA, and up thru our area.

I don’t do tornadoes.  At all.  I was grateful that it was during the day – but…that was about it.

We had about an hour notice – thanks Carol! – and got the girls into the barn and all the doors closed.

Then I hunkered down with “Ryan Hall, y’all” on YouTube (he and his folks are outstanding meteorologists – and when they live stream the provide excellent real-time info).  I thought we were going to get away with a nothing burger but…then it got real dark.  And real windy.

Have I mentioned I don’t do tornadoes??

Finn and I headed for the basement.  Wayne remained above ground – doing…I don’t know what.

Finny wasn’t sure what the deal was but…he was game for whatever I was doing.  He settled in after exploring the basement for a few minutes.

But then…tired hit.

Guess he figured we were in for the long haul!

We spent about 45 min down there – I was happy that the power stayed on and the internet held.  In truth – everything went a bit south of us and a bit north (okay – that one was a little closer than I liked) – and we mostly got some pretty big gusts and some rain and some thunder booms.

Once it appeared clear – back to the world we went.  He was hungry and dinner needed to be made.

Within about 30 min….

It was like it hadn’t even happened.

The sunset was very cool, indeed!

We were fortunate – but – there are a LOT of people in Selma, AL and Griffin, GA – just a couple of the names I recall – who had VERY bad days.  My prayers go to them!
