Stampin’ Up! Delicate Desert Details Sneak Peek for the SU Demos Fun Fold Blog Hop

Good morning everyone and welcome to the Fun Folds Blog Hop for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!  We’ve got a talented line-up and…I think you’re going to like what you see!  This is a once-a-month hop and…all our cards will be fun folds!!  How cool is that?!?

I decided to try out a new product – from the Jan – Apr 2023 Mini Catalogavailable to demonstrators on 1 Dec and to customers on 5 Jan!  It’s the Delicate Desert Suite and…it’s gorgeous!  It’s anchored by the Desert Details bundle which has some seriously cool dies and great sentiments in fun fonts and is supported by the Delicate Desert Specialty DSP.  And – of course! – it’s a fun fold!  Take a look-see:

Now – as I often do with new products, I grabbed a design that captured my eye in the new Jan – Apr 2023 Mini Catalog and CASE’d it pretty much straight up.  Well – except that mine is a Fun Fold!!  It’s super simple – a Tent Fold that’s really easy to make – AND has the added benefit of standing up REALLY good – so your recipient can enjoy your creative endeavor! 🙂

I started by embossing a piece of Gray Granite cardstock in the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder for the card front.

Next up, I pulled out the southwestern stepped image die from the Desert Details Die set…

…and cut eight shapes from the Delicate Desert DSP

…four in a Gray Granite design and four in a Soft Succulent paper.  After figuring out a nice pattern, I adhered them all to the embossed panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Note how they sort of link together!! 🙂  And yes – that IS my shadow in the photo!  Sorry! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I cut a short length of new Pale Papaya 1/2″ Faux Velvet Trim (available on 5 Jan 23) – and adhered it across the middle of the panel with a couple of Glue Dots.

I used the next-to-largest circle die from the Stylish Shapes dies to cut a Vellum cardstock circle which I adhered over the ribbon with Liquid Glue.

I inked the large flower from Desert Details in Pale Papaya Ink.  This is a DistINKtive set and sometimes those need a little help to “do their thing”!  So – after inking, I used a Sponge Dauber to daub-daub-daub all over the stamp to help the ink get into the engravings on the rubber that create that amazing dimensional look.  Then I stamped it off on a piece of scrap paper and then – without re-inking – onto a piece of Basic White cardstock.

In the middle of the flower, I stamped a Desert Details sentiment in Gray Granite ink.  Then I cut it out with the matching die in the Desert Details die set.

I popped the flower/sentiment onto the Vellum circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The embellishments that finished off the card front are Gold Faceted Adhesive-backed Sequins – part of the Delicate Desert Suite and coming on 5 Jan in the new catalog!

For the back panel, I stamped a smaller flower from the set in Pale Papaya on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  In the center, I added a second sentiment in Gray Granite.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Pale Papaya mat and onto the back of my Gray Granite card base and popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then – it was time to make the “tent”!

I took a 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Gray Granite cardstock and scored it at 3/8″, 1 5/8″ and 2 7/8″ along the 3 1/4″ side.

I folded the two 3/8″ and 2 7/8″ score lines as “valleys” and the middle score line as a “mountain”….it makes a “w” when you look at it from the end.

..then I added Tear & Tape Adhesive to the small tabs.

I adhered the tent piece at the bottom of the card, between the front and back panels.  And…that was it!  Boom – tent fun fold!

Told ya – easy peasy!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the small Desert Details flower in Pale Papaya on the front…

…and more of the Delicate Desert DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I KNOW!  I confess – this suite didn’t GRAB me when I first looked thru the new catalog last week.  But then, Shelli and Sara featured it in their stamping presentation at OnStage and I was…intrigued but still…the jury was out!  But – now that I’ve played with the Desert Details stamp set and bundled dies – and seen the gorgeousness of the Delicate Desert DSP…well – it’s growing on me BIG TIME!  I can see lots of projects in my future – can’t wait to try the frame dies!!

I hope you like!
