Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Layers and Burlap Thanks!

‘Sup, y’all?  Are you anxiously awaiting the arrival of the weekend?  I am.  Looking forward to leaving the work phone in the bedroom and having my headset tell me…”Phone 2 Disconnected”!! 🙂

As I type this on Thursday afternoon, I have – over on my craft table – a big box.

It says….”Stampin’ Up!” on the side.  Guess what’s in it??  Yep – my pre-order from the new 2017 Holiday Catalog!  I’m thinking I’ll do a quick pop-up FB Live video to show y’all what’s in it.  So – if I did that – AND you joined me – thanks!  And…was it awesome?

Of course it was awesome – what a silly question to ask my future self today.  In the past. Which is also the present!

My eyes just crossed…so, I think I’ll just get on with the card!

I made a clean and simple thank you card with the All Things Thanks lending the sentiments.  The front is decorated with the Burlap background stamp, a strip of embossed card stock and a fall-ish leaf from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

I made this one using the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch – but apparently completely mis-read the closing date for the challenge, so I missed it! 🙁

So – a little background.  You guys know that we do a monthly digital tutorial using a different stamp set/bundle each month.  And that we send the tutorial – for free! – to folks who order from us and who are in our teams.

You knew that, right??

Well – the August tutorial uses the Colorful Seasons stamp set and matching Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

I had an idea in my head for my card, and so I pulled out my Embossing Paste and made this:

Well – not that exactly – when I made it it was still a “card front” – not all cut up!

I colored three small blobs of Embossing Paste with Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie Ink Refills and then laid them into the diamond mask in the Pattern Party Decorative Masks set.  All on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  I started with the Cajun Craze, then used Pumpkin Pie in the middle and ended up with Crushed Curry.  And you can see that I let them overlap and blend into each other.

And then I didn’t like it and went a whole different direction for my tutorial card.  But…being a pack rat…

So I cut a strip out of the middle for this card – you can see it in the photo above.

I inked up the Burlap image in Crumb Cake ink and stamped it on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, then matted it on Cajun Craze for the card front.  Then I matted my embossed strip on Cajun Craze and did a dry-fit with it on the card front.  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up my sentiment from All Things Thanks – I stamped it in Cajun Craze.

Then I adhered the matted and embossed strip underneath it with Liquid Glue.

I cut a Copper Foil leaf with the die in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.  Then I stuck a Cajun Craze Enamel Shapes circle onto the leaf and added a little bow.  The bow is tied with a length of Linen Thread and two lengths of Copper Metallic Thread – and adhered with another little dab of Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front! 🙂

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from All Things Thanks in Cajun Craze on a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I created another Seasonal Layers leaf – this time I took a piece of scrap Very Vanilla and sponged all over it – kind of willy nilly – with Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry – then cut the leaf out.  I adhered it in the corner of the panel with Liquid Glue and added another Cajun Craze Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d it to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a second cut-out Seasonal Layers leaf and Enamel Shape (I knew this was going inside a box and not thru the mail) on the front…

…and I stamped the Burlap image again in Crumb Cake on the envelope flap – plus a few added leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set in Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.

Et Voila!  Clean and simple but – I think this Seasonal Layers Thinlits die set has some of the prettiest dies (this is the set with the Adirondack chair and snowflakes, too!) and this is one of the best leaf dies we’ve had in a long time!  It’s not too big and not too small and is quite detailed.  Looks awesome in Copper Foil!  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

Finn is a born barn-helper!

He’s not so good at the whole horse-herding thing – he still thinks “in front” is a logical way to move them around.  He’s wrong – in case you were wondering! 😉

But he still tries to help.

Like with…water buckets!

“I’ll carry it, Mom!  I’ve got it!  You can let go!  Let me do it myself!  I can do it MYSELF!!”

Here’s what he’s really aiming for…

“Gotta get that last little drip/lick of water.  None of my water bowls tastes this good.  Must…reach…water…wait, Mom, WAIT!!”

Goof-bucket.

See what I did there? 😉
