Stampin’ Up! Falling in Love with Beautiful You for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  Today’s color challenge is a good one – excellent color combination (at least IMHO!).  I hope that you’ll spend a little time browsing all our projects and then gathering your goodies to play along!

And here ’tis!

I confess, I went ahead with an obvious choice and pulled out my Falling In Love DSP.  And why wouldn’t I?  It’s gorgeous!  To that pretty paper, I added a few images from Beautiful You – and a surprise entry from Mediterranean Moments.  And I employed a few techniques:  watercoloring, masking and paper-piecing!   Take a look-see:

The layout is from the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge this week!

When I saw the colors, I thought I do a little watercoloring, so – even before I saw the sketch – I made a watercolor panel, using my alcohol-filled Aqua Painter.  And then I set it aside for when I’d need it.

The next afternoon, I came back to my desk and saw this…

No – don’t focus on the paper-filled trash bag or the bits of flotsam and jetsam on the floor.  The thing that struck fear in my heart….my watercolor panel sitting all lonesome – just waiting for the slobbery teeth of Finn-Chewie!  Fortunately – I got there ahead of him to save it!

And then I didn’t even use the panel after all – it was too big for the card! 🙂

I started with two pieces of Falling in Love DSP that I matted on Sahara Sand card stock.  I SNAILd the smaller panel to the card front.

For the art panel, I used a piece of Shimmery White card stock.  Then I added my Soft Sky, Blushing Bride and Saharah Sand watercolor with my Aqua Painter.

The next layer is the stylish image from Beautiful You, stamped over the watercolor in Sahara Sand.  Then I stamped her again on a sticky note, cut her out to be a mask, and stuck it over the lady on the card.  I pulled out the pretty street scene image from Mediterranean Moments, inked it in Sahara Sand and very lightly stamped it off.  Then I stamped right over the masked lady, letting the stamp rest in place for a few extra moments to account for the mask.

I made her dress by stamping her again on a piece of the lace design paper in Falling in Love.  Then I just snipped the dress out and adhered it to the art panel with Liquid Glue.  I did the same for her hat, using a piece of Soft Sky paper in the DSP pack.  The panel is matted on Sahara Sand and adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used two sentiments from Beautiful You, and I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp both of them.  I added one directly to the art panel in Sahara Sand.  The second sentiment is stamped on a strip of Shimmery White card stock, that I’d brushed with a little Blushing Bride using my Aqua Painter.  I snipped a banner end with my Paper Snips.

I made a little banner mat from some Vellum card stock and adhered it to the art panel with Liquid Glue, then I popped the sentiment over that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished the card front with some Pearl Basic Embellishments – a few on the art panel and one tiny seed pearl in each of the flowers on the middle DSP panel.

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the birthday greeting from Beautiful You in Sahara Sand in the middle of a Shimmery White panel.  Over that, I added one of the watercolor images from Beautiful You – in stamped-off-once Soft Sky.

I SNAILd the panel to a Sahara Sand mat and into my Soft Sky card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Sahara Sand Beautiful You image.  Over her, I stamped the watercolor image in stamped-off-once Soft Sky…

…and I added more of the Falling in Love DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Watercolor.  Paper Piecing.  Masking.  All in one soft and pretty card!  I love this stamp set – it’s so elegant and stylish!  Hope you like!
