Happy Hawmmp Day! Do I spell that different each week…? Hmm… maybe.
Maybe you know – or don’t – my hubs and I have been married for….26 years! Yup – 26 years last April. And we were together for a few before that. Crazy, huh? Yes, I married him when I was 14 – it’s the only possible way this could have happened! 😉
Or not.
Anyway – I miss him! I miss our routine. And knowing what he’s going to do or say before he does or says it. Even though sometimes that drives me nutso when I’m home! 😉
So – I decided to send him a card. And I used a fun little Host-Exclusive set, called Lots of Love. Now, this is a stamp set that it took me a while to decide I needed. I mean…turtles? Hedgehogs? Elephant? What the heck was I going to do with those?
Well – I still haven’t done anything with them – but this card uses the image that was the final deciding factor:
Seriously? Just about as cute as it gets. The set didn’t have the exact sentiments I wanted – but another of the Host sets: Gift of Love did. (didja notice how clever I was with the title of this blog post?? Go ahead and take another look – I’ll wait….)
So I used them both. Take a look-see:
The layout and the color scheme were both inspired by challenges. My layout came from the RetroSketches challenge #233:
And I picked my colors thanks to the Can You CASE It color challenge #129.
I called on a couple of the fun new 2016-2018 In Colors – Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo. Using the Designer Series Paper Stack, I built the card front, SNAILing pieces of each polka-dotted paper onto a mat of Basic Black card stock. Then I SNAILd the Flirty Flamingo panel to the Dapper Denim panel.
I used a couple of little pieces of Flirty Flamingo 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon and adhered them with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
The sentiment panel is Whisper White. I stamped the sentiment from Gift of Love in Dapper Denim. Then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to align and stamp the ladybug couple, in Basic Black Archival Ink, over the top. I colored them with my Dapper Denim and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Markers. See? One is me…and one is Wayne… 😉
I cut a couple of hearts, using the dies in the Sweet & Sassy Framelits set – one in Flirty Flamingo and one in Dapper Denim – and layered them together with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
I popped my sentiment panel over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then used more of the Liquid Glue to adhere my stack of hearts. I decided to add a few more little hearts, so I cut some with my Confetti Hearts Border Punch and glued them down in the corners.
On the inside, I used another panel of Whisper White and stamped a second sentiment from Gift of Love. I only wanted part of the sentiment – so I only inked that piece. Since this is a photopolymer set, it was easy to ever-so-carefully ink just the words “I Miss You”. Then I added a couple more of my Confetti Hearts Border hearts underneath.
I used some Pop of Pink Melon Mambo (hey – the challenge said “pinks” not “pick one and only one pink”!) and Moroccan Dapper Denim Washi Tape across the bottom, SNAILd the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Dapper Denim card base. I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Washi Tape across the front…
…and a custom flap with some Dapper Denim DSP Stack paper.
Et Voila! A cute little card to tell my honey I miss him. And – not to worry – he’s plenty secure enough in his manhood to deal with pinks! And ladybugs!! 😉 I know he’s going to like it – and I hope you do, too!
