Stampin’ Up! Lovely Stitching on a Single Stamp Set Saturday!

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Saturday – it’s cooler here (sorry if you’re in one of those spots where it’s surface-of-the-sun hot! 🙁 ) – we’ve got a full load of horse feed (that’s a super warm-and-fuzzy for horse people!) – I bought and hung a new hummingbird feeder for the hummer that buzzes me every morning at the barn – we got the trellis up on my squash and green bean bed – and I got to spend some time making cards (and that time happened to correspond to a time I was feeling creative!).  So – life is good!

I’ve got a super quick and easy card for you today, that you can make with just one of the new stamp sets – no Big Shot, no heat embossing.  One of the first stamp sets that really caught my eye in the new catalog was this one – Lovely Stitching.  I finally got a chance to play with it some.  Take a look-see:

This card evolved with the help of two challenges.  The first – CAS(E) This Sketch # 177  – drove the layout.

The second was a color challenge from Pals Paper Arts – PPA 305:

I decided early in the design process – again with the artsy-words! – that I was going to do some masking.  So the first step was to stamp two of the Lovely Stitching flower images on sticky notes and fussy cut them right quick to act as masks.

To begin the card, I stamped the faux-embroidered flower in Island Indigo ink in the top corner of a Whisper White card stock panel.  Then I laid the mask over each flower and successively stamped the second flower image in Pool Party.  I moved my mask around as necessary to accommodate my Pool Party images.

I added the little flower-center images in Pool Party – Lovely Stitching is a photo-polymer stamp set – so it’s easy to line everything up!

I decided I wanted a little extra sumpin’-sumpin’, so I stamped another Island Indigo and Pool Party flower onto a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock and fussy cut the image.  Then I wound some Silver Metallic Thread around on the back of the flower, adhering it with Glue Dots, and popped it over the center flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The stitched sentiment is stamped in Island Indigo ink and the final touch was the addition of a couple of Island Indigo round Enamel Shapes and a Pool Party Enamel Shape.  These are new in this catalog and are a fun way to add a last little touch to a card.  They come in all the color families – and there’s even a set with Gold and Silver “metallic” shapes! 🙂

I matted the card front on a piece of Pool Party card stock and that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I used a couple of the long stitched line images from Lovely Stitching – stamping them in Island Indigo and Pool Party on a Whisper White panel.  I added the second sentiment from the set in Island Indigo and matted it on Pool Party card stock.

I SNAILd the panel into my Island Indigo card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Island Indigo and Pool Party stitched lines on the front…

…and on the back flap.

Et Voila!  Quick.  Easy.  Clean and Simple.  Suitable for almost any occasion.  All with one pretty stamp set and a pair of Paper Snips!  I love this little set – it’s for darned sure the easiest “sewing” you’ll ever do.  And – in my case – probably the only sewing I’ll ever be any good at doing! 🙂
