Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms and Bouquet For You

16225-spring-forward-cat-2

Mornin’, y’all – hope you remembered to spring forward!  If not – go spring ’em.  I’ll wait.

Better now?  No?  Yea – hard to be better when you just instantaneously lost an entire hour of your Sunday! 🙁

I did not get as many cards done today as I’d planned.  There was breakfast and laundry.  And lunch.  And the duck incident.  Then a few hours of card making.  Then dinner.  Then the horses….

Oh – the duck incident!  So, I’m making a card and I stand up to go to the Big Shot.  Out the window, I see there’s just a heck of a commotion in the pond.  I hurry into the kitchen to get my glasses so I have a half a shot of seeing what the heck is going on – and I see there’s two mallards just a fussin’ away.  I mean – they were going at it!

I ran out to the golf cart and raced around the house – and start hollerin’ at them – threw a rock…nothing.  Okay, the rock didn’t go very far, but still.  Normally, if you even look in their direction they’re gone.  But not today.  So, I raced back around the house and found Wayne and we went all the way out to the pond.  That’s when we see that there’s also a hen.  Apparently, the two males were interested in….well.  You know.

That poor hen – she kept going under the water to get away from them – that’s why we didn’t see her right off the bat.  And she stayed there for a long time.  Do ducks swim under water?!?  She was finally able to get to the bank, where the two boys rather sheepishly joined her.  They all spent quite a bit of time fluffing and preening and quacking at each other.  And pretending that that hadn’t just happened.  And then they all left.

I have but one word.

Men.

Whether they walk on feet with toes or webs…. 😉

But my reaction to the two duck dudes doing what duck dudes have done since God made ducks….well, that’s why I don’t keep chickens.  Or sheep.  Or anything that can’t take pretty good care of itself.  I get a little whack when that fighting and trying-to-kill-each-other crap goes on.  Wayne might have been laughing at me just a little – to his credit he hid it well!

So.  Anywho!  The third card I made is the one I’m sharing with you today.  It’s a super simple single stamp set card!  And it features the Birthday Blooms stamp set and the oh-so-gorgeous Birthday Bouquet DSP.  You’re going to see that a couple more times this week – I just got another pack in and I’ve kind of gone crazy with it!  This DSP and stamp set – well, I hope it goes forward to the Annual Catalog.  This and the Grateful Bunch Bundle! 🙂  Anyway, take a look-see:

My design was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #227:

I started with a panel of Blushing Bride card stock.  I inked up the smaller flower image from Birthday Blooms with Versamark Ink and stamped the image all over the panel – kind of creating my own Designer Paper.  I double matted it on Mossy Meadow and a piece of Gold Foil and then stamped the sentiment from Birthday Blooms in Mossy Meadow.

For the vertical element on the side of the sketch, I used a piece of Wild Wasabi 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon.  I just secured it in the back with scotch tape – kept it very simple.

For the art piece, I SNAILd a piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP to a piece of Whisper White card stock – to give it a little more structure – and then I fussy cut the flower.  I only kept the bigger leaves, so it wasn’t that difficult.

The two squares are just pieces of the same DSP, matted on Mossy Meadow and Gold Foil.  I SNAILd the striped square to the card front and then used SNAIL and some Stampin’ Dimensional to add the second square over the top.

I put a few Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of my fussy cut flower and looped some Gold Metallic Thread around  – using the Dimensionals to secure it.  Then I adhered the flower to the card front.

I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels to the Blushing Bride portion and the card front was done.

On the inside. I layered a piece of Whisper White card stock over Mossy Meadow and Gold Foil.  Then I inked up the same single flower Birthday Blooms image that I’d used on the front.  I used my Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride and Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp.

I SNAILd the liner and the card front onto my Whisper White card base and the card was done!

For the envelope, I stamped another of the Birthday Blooms flowers – inking it with the Markers again – onto the front of a Medium Whisper White Envelope….

…and then I added some of the striped Birthday Bouquet DSP to the inside with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Et Voila!  I’d consider this a layered clean and simple card, wouldn’t you?  I just love this stamp set – the font in the sentiments is perfect.  And the Birthday Bouquet DSP is my favorite in the Occasions Catalog!

And – speaking of things we want to see go forward into the Annual Catalog, you’ve still got a little time (until Tuesday at 8pm eastern to be exact!) to leave a comment over on my post from last Wednesday – and get yourself entered to win the Botanical Blog Candy!

Enjoy the rest of your hour-shorter-day! 🙂
