About

Welcome to Stamps-n-Lingers!  My name is Mary and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator.  I love our tools and gadgets and the pretty papers and colors!  And – I love to teach!  So…it’s a pretty perfect business for me.  I get to help folks find or nurture their creative sides!  Sometimes sides they didn’t even know they had! 😉

We live in Fayetteville, GA – which, if you’re unfamiliar, is a suburb of Atlanta.  We can get from our door to the airport in about 20 minutes (depending on traffic – well, if you know Atlanta, you know that EVERYTHING is dependent on traffic!!).  Somehow, we were blessed to find a lovely acreage this close in, and we (my husband, Wayne, and I) share it with Finn – our Australian Shepherd who has gained a pretty huge Finn-Fan base…

…and two horses. Our horses consider us their “staff” – which, indeed, we are!   Cerah and Cady pretty much run our lives and dictate our schedules.  But, it’s a benign dictatorship, and one I wouldn’t trade for anything!

Horses having a swim

My life has encompassed a career in the Air Force, a follow-on military support job (from which I retired not too long ago!), and a stint as a Pampered Chef consultant.  I’m an aviator, a teacher, a horse trainer, a would-be-chef, a reluctant housekeeper, a Square-Foot Gardener, a prepper (okay – I own a dehydrator and have managed to grow and dry enough food to last about a week when the zombie apocalypse comes….), a card-maker, a reader-of-novels, and (let’s face it) a couch potato.  I’m not one of those people who claim “I just don’t watch TV” or “I just can’t sit around doing nothing” or “I just have to stay busy”.  Nope.  I like watching “my shows”.  Preferably on the DVR without any commercials.  So – I didn’t pick crafting to give my overly busy hands something to do, or to take up my evenings.  I picked it purely because I love the “stuff” that goes with and into it, and I love the end results that I can make with just some paper and ink and a little bling.

If you’re interested in learning more about Stampin’ Up or about any of their products, drop me a line!  I’d be happy to be your Demonstrator!

Our good dog, Buck, went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2015 – but he’ll be in our hearts forever.  Rest well, buddy.  We’ll see you when we get there!

Buck Original

We’ve also said good-bye to Bo – the brown and white pinto horse in the photo above – and Leo and Katy – two miniature panthers that pretty much ruled the roost.  They’re all in our hearts now.  It’s going to be a joyous reunion at the bridge one day!

Love your bio… I am also an aviator, thanks to my father. I arrived here at your blog via Amy Koenders so am adding your blog to my faves so I can drop in every few days and see your lovely creations.

    • Thanks for coming by – always nice to meet a fellow aviator! Appreciate you checking out my site, and setting me as a fave. Thanks so much.

    • Tina Lee

Thank you for your service. Married to an Army infantry man who served for 42 years. So proud of our military family who give so much to protect us. Thank you. Love your videos. Merry Christmas.

      • stampsnlingers

Thank YOU both – both parties do the Service in one way or another, don’t they?! Appreciate y’all!! And thank you for the kind words. Merry Christmas! 🙂

  2. Love your down to earth site. Found you on Splitcoatstampers with your 3 leaves/Happy Scenes card. Daughter of an AF aviator, wife of an AF R & D missleman. Feel the kindred spirit. Love my downtime too. Also Love SU and it’s great products. Am a demonstrator in CA. You are in my FAVs now. Will be checkin’ in.

  3. Mom

Great write-up. Love the photos. Don’t know why I never saw it until now…😕

  4. 🙂

  5. Love your bio and your Artistically Asian card. I’ll use it for inspiration for one of the projects for my Monday classes. I love your horses too! The sweet life!! 🙂

  6. Bette S

Love your down-to-earth style too, Mary. Sorry, no aviator blood in me unless you consider all the trips I’ve made to Atlanta when my daughter and her family lived there and now Tampa, Fl. I’m not a demonstrator but I love SU products. I belong to a small group of gals that meet monthly and have a great demo with so much talent (Nancy Morris). And then a smaller group of us meet monthly for a card exchange. I follow several other demo blogs and that’s how I found you and so glad I did. Love your creations! They are all so awesome!! Would love to ask what does TTFN stand for? Keep up the good work – I love it!

  7. Hi, Bette! Thanks for taking time to write! Maybe we’re all aviators somewhere down deep… Sounds like you have a great group of ladies and a fun and talented demo!! I’m so glad that y’all have such fun with this great product! 🙂 And…TTFN: Ta Ta For Now. It’s what Tigger says from Winnie the Pooh! 🙂

  8. Marcia Lawhorn

Hi Mary..My name is Marcia Lawhorn from Rochelle Illinois. I don’t fly anything but my ex husband loved to fly so I learned to love it also flying in his restored stearman..Open cockpit..So fun. I am a retired x-ray technician although mammography was my love. Now I love stamping up and love sending some sunshine into people’s lives. Thanks for sharing your love and talent. Looking forward to checking in on your creations !

    • Oh my goodness, Marsha – an open Stearman!! How cool is that?!?! Thank you for your kind words about my projects – so happy to share with everyone! Handmade cards do make people happy, I know! Glad that you’re sending the love one card at a time! 🙂

  9. Kathy Beaver

Hi, Mary. Got on your blog to look for when you’ll do your next live Facebook tute. Had to find out more about you. We have a lot in common: former AF, current SU demo, I love all things AF especially the new go fasts (including Blackbirds that are not around anymore) and the old biggies like KC135 and B52 that my Dad took care of in his 30 years (yes, I’m a brat!). My sweetie and I watch lots of shows we record on DVR as we hate commercials. We have an abhorrence of sit coms and reality shows and talent contests. Hope I can find you tonight. TTFN

    • Now that’s cool, Kathy!! I miss the airplanes – hearing them and seeing them fly. The commercial planes that go over just aren’t the same! We do differ a little – Wayne and I do like America’s Got Talent. 😉 Nice to “meet” you, Kathy!! Thanks for taking time to tell me a little about yourself – and for joining me on the video! 🙂

  10. Robin Hill

Mary I just have to say that your video commentary is some of the best I’ve heard! I watched several of your videos today and really enjoyed them. Love your cards. I also am an AF veteran (though not an aviator), a new SU demonstrator (although I have been making cards for several years), and currently work for the Department of Veteran Affairs. Just wanted to say hi and say how much I enjoy your videos. I can’t believe you pack up and travel with so much stuff!!

    • Thank you so much for saying that, Robin – I still cringe when I hear it. I’m glad that you don’t have that same reaction! Thank you so much for your service – and your continued service – to our country! 🙂 And yes. It’s a little cray cray, I’m pretty sure. But…not having it for that long? Cray-cray-ER!! Appreciate you stopping by and introducing yourself! 🙂

  11. Hi Mary…just came across your blog. I love your sense of humor and honesty. Your dog Finn is very handsome!! Is he an Aussie? I have one, he’s a blue Merle. I am a demo also and I too enjoy all that encompasses Stampin up. Love your work, keep it coming!

    • Hey Sandy – thanks so much! Appreciate the kind words. Yes, Finn’s an Aussie – just over a year old. He’s my first Aussie – and is quite a trip! I bet you guy is gorgeous! Thanks – hope to see you around! 🙂

  12. Jean Goerlach

    Hi Mary,
I came across your videos on YouTube and have become addicted to your projects. My husband is a Vietnam Vet having served in Special Forces in the AF. I have been stamping for about 10 years and totally addicted to Stamping Up. I recently became a demonstrator and look forward to many great years of stamping. While we don’t have any dogs, we are proud parents to 3 felines “Sammi”, “Kaboodle” and “Misty” who totally rule our household. Thanks for sharing what you love with all of us. You are so down-to-earth in your videos and I love watching and stamping with you.

    • First off, Jean – please thank your husband for his service! And the same to you – our spouses put up with so much as we serve. Y’all serve right along beside us! 🙂 Secondly – thank you so very much for your kind words!! They really do mean a lot to me – videos take a little effort and it’s so nice when folks say they’re enjoying them! Finally – welcome to Stampin’ Up! I really think they provide us with the best tools there are for doing this crazy thing we love!! Thank you again, Jean! 🙂

      • Jean Goerlach

        Mary,
Thank you for your response. And let me say thank you to you for YOUR service and for all that you provide in the way of your creativity. I love love love watching your videos and Facebook when you are live on it. You are so down to earth and very amusing and entertaining with your comments. I enjoy your projects and your interaction with your followers. Stampin Up products have become addictive to me as I recently retired and among my other activities I look forward to all the projects that consultants publish which give me ideas. Who knew there was life after an 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m workday. LOL!

      • Hey Jean – yep. It’s addictive stuff! It’s the biggest reason I joined up! I wanted everything. EVERYthing!! So I NEEDED that discount! LOL!! I’m planning to get rid of my retirement 8 – 6 job soon…probably next summer! Really looking forward to being a “true” retiree!! Thanks so much – I’m tickled that you’re watching and enjoying my videos!! 🙂

  13. Carol Carriveau

I think you are hysterically funny and love your sense of humor – I caught the cat card on You Tube and you sound like me…freely admitting that the “Not Me Ghost” likes to move things around on your table and you are not a perfect card maker….. It was a struggle to find your blog, but I did and have signed up two times cuz I thought I would get the confirming email sooner…sorry! Will have to be more patient! Hard to do at times! I found another of your gals on a blog hop and have decided to follow her as well. Looking to seeing your blog posts and listen to you – I live in CA and am a demo as well, for about 6 years now… NO website…just me and a few customers!.Have the Cat Bundle and will play tomorrow with it at a friend’s home. Thank you for being so honest and funny…..I look forward to following you!

    • Well – thank you so much, Carol! I really appreciate your kind words. “Perfect card maker” – I suppose there is such a person…somewhere… ?? But surely not at this house. LOL. I’m sorry the confirmation e-amil took a bit – I didn’t know it did that (it’s an auto-generated thing!). But so pleased that you persisted and are now following me! I hope I’ll live up to that! Thanks again! 🙂

  14. Ginger McDonald

Hi Mary, I’m not sure how I found my way to you but I’m super happy I did. I LOVE your laid back style & the cards you put together. Watching you always leaves me with the thinking “don’t sweat the small stuff” You’re so calm and if something happens or gets misplaced you just roll on with a sense of humor and it works out beautifully. Card making should be fun & relaxing & you show me that it is, not to mention you make it entertaining as well. I too often worry about the little things a smudge or any number of other “oops” that can go wrong. THANK for showing me to “CHILL” and have fun doing it myself like I have fun watching you create.

    • Gosh, Ginger – what a wonderful thing to say! It lets me know that I’m succeeding in my goal to teach and entertain! I do have so much fun doing those videos and to know that y’all are enjoying them as much just means the world to me! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment. Happy Stamping!! 🙂

      • Ginger McDonald

it is I who must say THANK YOU to you, for your taking time to respond to me, I know you are super busy especially right now. You are absolutely succeeding in your goal to teach and entertain. I love watching someone that makes it’s very clear that they are doing something they love & when I watch you I totally get the feeling. Thanks for inspiring me !!

      • You are so welcome – and thanks, Ginger! 🙂

  15. Eunice Stoneman

Hi Mary. I happened upon your videos on youtube before Christmas when I was looking for a tutorial for a z-fold card. I watched several of your videos and really enjoyed the casual, relaxed manner in which you spoke and created. You sound so ‘down to earth’. I am glad that I found your blog, and have learned a little more about you. I loved the cards you made on the videos and look forward to seeing more. I have been making cards for a few years, thanks to my awesome demonstrator Heather Cooper, who encouraged me to ‘keep going’. I find it so rewarding to sit down with some paper, punches, stamps and ink and end up with a card that I feel good about sending to a special someone in my life. I ‘pack up’ a lot of my craft supplies and take them along with me when we go out in our 5th wheel. It is so relaxing to sit beside a lake and make cards. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your videos. Maybe some Sunday I will be able to catch your facebook live. I am on the west coast, so will have to figure out the time difference.

    • Hi, Eunice! Thank you so much for your kind words! I have to NOT compare my videos to other demos – their’s seem to profesisonal and “right” that I wonder about how I do mine. But…it’s my hour to connect to folks, and I always hope that everyone is enjoying the time and learning a little something at the same time! So it’s nice to hear when someone tells me it’s working for them!! 🙂 Making cards by a lake…sounds like heaven! And one day…perhaps will be my locale! I hope you can join me some Sunday night – 8pm Eastern is 5pm Pacific! Thank you again!! 🙂

  16. Eunice Stoneman

Thank you for the time conversion. I had figured it out to be either 4 pm or 5 pm. Making cards by a lake is very relaxing, unless you get free range cattle coming into your camp site to critique your cards. That only happened once, fortunately. The birds and squirrels are usually a little more respectful of my personal space, lol. I retired last year, so I hope to spend a lot more time crafting in a campsite by a lake.

  17. Twila Franklin

Hi, Mary, I just found your site and love it. I will “favorite” it and stop by often. I am excited to make the barn door. Your commentary is awesome. So easy to follow. I am a SU demo sort of. Thank you so much for sharing. Twila

    • Thanks so much, Twila! I appreciate it and am glad that you found my site! Feel free to sign up to follow the blog and then you’ll get an e-mail every time I post! 🙂

  18. Stephanie Briggs

    Hi , Mary!
I love your bio just like I love your videos!!! You remind me of a great friend!
I am a demo for a year now , card maker since 2002 with a break for a few years in the middle. Linda Heller encouraged me to sign up last saleabrat ion. My friends all encouraged me to also do classes, so I find my self doinng that . Cause as working a full time job, a Pampered chef consultant, mother of 2 teens and a Pastors wife I needed something else to do ! 🙂 lol
So this long note started to ask what does the Lingers mean in Stamps and Lingers?? I read your bio hoping to learn, I asked once in a live video but don’t think I saw the comment. Inquiring minds need to know!:) I think there are others who also must want to know:) at least the night I asked I had others say good question. I wonder if it has to do with your aviation job?
Thanks for your awesome and great commentary videos!! Keep them coming!
    Your fan Stephanie

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Stephanie! Thanks for reaching out! “Lingers” – pronounced like ringer not like “lingering at the mall” – is what we call our Haflinger ponies. The Lingers. So – when I started my business, I wanted to combine my two loves – the Lingers and stamping….hence Stamps-N-Lingers! It made sense at the time!! Sorry i missed the question on the live video – the comments tend to scroll out of sight! 🙂

  19. Maryanne Willequer

Hi, Mary! I finally got into your blog tocheck out the color charts, which you mentioned on tonite’s live presentation. Glad i happened upon this page! My husband is retired AF (out of Nellis AFB) here in Las Vegas. I love your cards and have recommended you to my best friend! Glad to know the meaning of ‘lingers”. Keep providing us with great cards!

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Maryanne! Glad you were able to find the color charts! And – thanks to your husband (and to you!) for your service! Thanks for the nice compliment, too! 🙂

The link to that: https://www.facebook.com/stampsnlingers/ Hope that helps and that we’ll see you on the next live video! 🙂

  23. Nola

Thank you so much for taking the time to write, Nola! Yes – the ponies and puppies and kitties do, indeed, rule the roost! Glad that you got into stamping and hope that you and the kids have fun with it! 🙂

Well – thank you so much, Judy!! What very kind words. I’m tickled that you enjoy my site and cards! Hopefully we WILL meet up one of these days! 🙂

  25. Marge Turner

I love the ‘lingers’ part of your title! I had a haflinger, Cookie, at the age of 34 she went over the rainbow bridge. We miss her terribly! Love your cards too!

    • stampsnlingers

Hey! A fellow Haffie person!! Whoo-hoo!! We have C-line girls, too. Cerah and Cadence! THey’re my first Haflingers – can’t believe I went so long before I had one in my barn. Incredible personalities. I know you miss her face and sweet self. 🙁 But – I also TOTALLY believe we’ll see them all again. HAVE to believe it… 🙂 Thanks for introducing yourself, Marge – and for the kind words!

  26. Hi Mary (at least I hope this finds its way to you and you are well). I have been totally enjoying your videos for a little bit now. I enjoyed reading your bio! You are a talented master at papercrafting. I want to thank you for the inspiration and more importantly for sharing so freely. I am also a Stampin’ Up demonstrator from Somerville, MA (a city right outside of Boston, MA). Thanks again for all that you do for folks in the Stampin’ Up community and others (right?)…

    • stampsnlingers

Well – thank you so much for the very kind words, James – I appreciate them! Glad that you found me and took a minute to reach out. 🙂

  27. Joan gordon

Hello, I am new to watching you! I was referred by a friend to your sites. Enjoy watching your videos and seeing all your beautiful cards. I’m from Washington state and a stamper.

    • stampsnlingers

Hello – and welcome. So glad that you’re here! Thank you very much. 🙂

  28. Lynne Ingram

    Happy Birthday Mary.

  29. Rita Adams

Enjoyed reading your bio. We have horses, dogs, cats all in common! Oh, yes! Our love of making cards with all the Stampin’Up goodies!

  30. Barbra J Sauer

Mary, I just found you TODAY! I happened upon your YouTube video from 3 wks ago and found you very entertaining to listen to while watching you make a beautiful card. So of course I had to find your blog! Love your “about me” section w/all the photos! We have several things in common! My husband is a USAF vet of 30 yrs,(Intel); he joined 5 months after we were married. He has been retired about 9 yrs now. It was a great life with many experiences our 5 kids would not have had any other way. We also have horses! It had been our dream since getting married, but of course, it had to wait until Hubby retired. We are down to 4 gelding now – love them all! We also have dogs, but ours are ACDs – a red female, Kimber (aka Chubby Puppy) and a blue male, Sig. The day after Thanksgiving, Sig found a tiny kitten outside our house, so we now have a (now) 3 lb feline terrorist living in our house. LOL Her name is Molly and amazingly, Sig (who is known to not like cats), is very good with her! Thank heaven! I am also an SU demo.- 2 yrs. now. I love all SU products and making projects with them. However, I am horrible about actually sending out the projects! :/
I have saved your blog & YouTube channel in my FAVS and will definitely be checking back frequently!

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Barbara! Thank you so much for getting in touch! It’s kind of a small world, huh? Thank you BOTH for your 30 years of Service!! 🙂 I’m glad you were finally able to add horses to your lives!! And a kitten. I love horses and I love dogs – but…I miss my kitties!! Give them ALL a big pat for me – and maybe a nose-kiss or two! And will be hoping to see you around the “blog-is-sphere”!

  31. Judy

Hi May, I am a relatively new stamper at 79 yo. I found your blog today and I’m so excited. I used to be a technical trainer and I love love love the way you instruct us to make your beautiful creations! Thank you so much. I suspect I’m going to have even more fun searching your blog history. You are a gift!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh – thank you so much for the very kind words, Judy – and WELCOME to stamping! I know you’re going to have a great time!! 🙂

  32. Trena Deatherage

Mary, I was looking for stampin up catalog when I ran across your name. We have the same last name.

  33. Sharon Land

Love your bio and reading about your animals. Enjoy watching you on YouTube. Saw one of your cards on Pinterest and have been following you ever since. You are very talented and creative in many fields! Happy Birthday!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much, Sharon! Appreciate the kind words! 🙂

  34. Liz

Hi Mary, I married a copter pilot on my second round. He was an instructor for many years in the Army. I have no military background but everyone in my second marriage has or is currently serving. I saw a card you did with the new daisy bundle and love your use of colors. I also like your down home style in your videos.

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Liz – thanks so much! And thank you to YOU and your husband for your Service! 🙂

  35. Linda

Love what you did with the Earthen Textures set so I’m following your blog. Happy New Year!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much – for the kind words AND for following my blog! 🙂

  36. I just LOVE your style, your openness, and your down-to-earth real-ness. It’s good to see a picture of you and your husband. I still consider myself a “new” demonstrator although it’s been either one year or two next month. I am so inspired by your creations and now, reading your bio, I see why.

Thank you for everything. You are a real spark and blessing. Our world needs wayyyyyy more people like you.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh Sandie – that is VERY sweet! Thank you so much! 🙂

  37. Hi Mary, you funny, down-to-earth, talented, animal loving, aviator among many other things I’m sure I left out! I’ve been watching you for a while. You always make me laugh & try to look at the bright side of things & I’m so grateful to you for that. My first time to visit your blog. Still haven’t figured out what a ‘blog’ is & how it differs from an email or web site & if I knew how to fave, well, I’d do that too! I think I signed up for notifications. hmmm. Not sure what, but I’ll be getting something from you every week. I’ve been trying to figure out how to computer for so long and, to save my life, I can’t figure out how to maneuver those buttons & windows that open & close & when I do do something cool I can’t remember how or what I did to make it happen! Tsk.

Anyway Mary, I’m gonna go find you on my You Tube & see what you’re doing for us tonight. My daughter says all I watch is ‘streaming’ & that may well be true. I kinda thought it might be cable but she says no, that it’s something else. In the end all I have to say is when I click a button and the t.v. comes on I’m watching t.v!

Just like the dang cars! You gotta watch t.v. to back up & the amount of air in the tires shows up where the clock is supposed to be! My daughter has a little ring of diamonds around the ignition and she can start it without a key!

You sure have a list of adoring viewers & I’m sure you’re right where you’re supposed to be & doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing & a mighty fine job of it I must say! It’s really sweet to see how you take the time to answer everyone, so cheery & thoughtful as though you have all the time in the world & you choose to spend it with us! Um huh. Awesome. Just really awesome.

In closing Mary I, along with so many others, wish to take this opportunity to thank you & all your comrades for your service that assures us the privilege of all the liberties we enjoy, including but not limited to, the right to express ourselves openly, to choose our religion……or not, to vote for whomever we believe will do the better job & commit to protecting us along with the ideas our forefathers envisioned. To assure law & order that provides us with the environment necessary so we can be allowed to exercise the right to make our own choices & decisions free from oppression & tyranny.

My husband was a pilot in the RAF during W W II & he told me many a story about the atrocities that took place back in ’39 ’til around ’45. Just a short time ago a madman decided he wanted to rule the world. It was a nightmare & truly unimaginable. Millions & millions died for naught. He was stopped by our armed forces & allies. The UK was annihilated. Wow. Hope nothing like that ever happens here. We were lucky. Our troops managed to keep them off our soil. Because of them & all they stand for tomorrow I’ll enjoy dinner with my girls. We’ll go anywhere we want & order anything we want to eat. Then I’m gonna come home & put my pajamas on & then, I’m gonna stamp my heart out & I’ll do that without worry of planes overhead or tanks rolling down my road. I’m so thankful I live in America. Home of the free & the brave. I wonder if there’s anything I can do to make things better?

Do you have any flag stamps?

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Mona – thank you for the very nice comment – I appreciate the kind words! And yes – assuming you mean postage stamps – I DO have flag stamps! Thanks much! 🙂

  38. Linda S Heaps

    Dear Mary,
I found your YT videos several years ago and loved your style, instructing and amusing… wonderful presentations.
After first watching you, I looked at your profile and learned you were a pilot in the AF. I was very curious as to what planes you flew, finally recently you said you flew C-5’s. I just had to Google them and the C-5M Super Galaxy came up. What an awesome aeroplanes they are! Was that the model you flew, or was it an earlier version cargo transport? They are all awesome.
I saw that you presented at On Stage this year. and thrilled your fans with seeing your face, not just your hands. It is so nice for your fans to know whom we are watching on your wonderful YT card demo’s. Did you demo the airplane stamp and dye set? I am looking forward to seeing your upcoming demo.
Also, many thanks to you and your husband, and all the other men and women for their service through the years for helping to keep America great, what might have happened to us without them.
    Regards,
    Linda S Heaps aka inkyfingers43@gmail.com

Hey Linda – thank you for the kind words! I flew the A’s and B’s and then worked on the Super Galaxy upgrade/modification before I retired! I didn’t present at OnStage (I would have if they’d asked me, for sure!) but – folks saw me and heard my name on a couple of walks across the stage. It was fun to meet people I’ve “conversed” with on videos! Hope you enjoy the Youtube on this suite! Thank you again! 🙂
