Welcome to Stamps-n-Lingers! My name is Mary and I’m a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator. I love our tools and gadgets and the pretty papers and colors! And – I love to teach! So…it’s a pretty perfect business for me. I get to help folks find or nurture their creative sides! Sometimes sides they didn’t even know they had! 😉
We live in Fayetteville, GA – which, if you’re unfamiliar, is a suburb of Atlanta. We can get from our door to the airport in about 20 minutes (depending on traffic – well, if you know Atlanta, you know that EVERYTHING is dependent on traffic!!). Somehow, we were blessed to find a lovely acreage this close in, and we (my husband, Wayne, and I) share it with Finn – our Australian Shepherd who has gained a pretty huge Finn-Fan base…
…and two horses. Our horses consider us their “staff” – which, indeed, we are! Cerah and Cady pretty much run our lives and dictate our schedules. But, it’s a benign dictatorship, and one I wouldn’t trade for anything!
My life has encompassed a career in the Air Force, a follow-on military support job (from which I retired not too long ago!), and a stint as a Pampered Chef consultant. I’m an aviator, a teacher, a horse trainer, a would-be-chef, a reluctant housekeeper, a Square-Foot Gardener, a prepper (okay – I own a dehydrator and have managed to grow and dry enough food to last about a week when the zombie apocalypse comes….), a card-maker, a reader-of-novels, and (let’s face it) a couch potato. I’m not one of those people who claim “I just don’t watch TV” or “I just can’t sit around doing nothing” or “I just have to stay busy”. Nope. I like watching “my shows”. Preferably on the DVR without any commercials. So – I didn’t pick crafting to give my overly busy hands something to do, or to take up my evenings. I picked it purely because I love the “stuff” that goes with and into it, and I love the end results that I can make with just some paper and ink and a little bling.

Our good dog, Buck, went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2015 – but he’ll be in our hearts forever. Rest well, buddy. We’ll see you when we get there!
We’ve also said good-bye to Bo – the brown and white pinto horse in the photo above – and Leo and Katy – two miniature panthers that pretty much ruled the roost. They’re all in our hearts now. It’s going to be a joyous reunion at the bridge one day!

Love your down-to-earth style too, Mary. Sorry, no aviator blood in me unless you consider all the trips I’ve made to Atlanta when my daughter and her family lived there and now Tampa, Fl. I’m not a demonstrator but I love SU products. I belong to a small group of gals that meet monthly and have a great demo with so much talent (Nancy Morris). And then a smaller group of us meet monthly for a card exchange. I follow several other demo blogs and that’s how I found you and so glad I did. Love your creations! They are all so awesome!! Hi, Mary. Got on your blog to look for when you’ll do your next live Facebook tute. Had to find out more about you. We have a lot in common: former AF, current SU demo, I love all things AF especially the new go fasts (including Blackbirds that are not around anymore) and the old biggies like KC135 and B52 that my Dad took care of in his 30 years (yes, I’m a brat!). My sweetie and I watch lots of shows we record on DVR as we hate commercials. We have an abhorrence of sit coms and reality shows and talent contests. Hope I can find you tonight. TTFN

Mary I just have to say that your video commentary is some of the best I’ve heard! I watched several of your videos today and really enjoyed them. Love your cards. I also am an AF veteran (though not an aviator), a new SU demonstrator (although I have been making cards for several years), and currently work for the Department of Veteran Affairs. I came across your videos on YouTube and have become addicted to your projects. My husband is a Vietnam Vet having served in Special Forces in the AF. I have been stamping for about 10 years and totally addicted to Stamping Up. I recently became a demonstrator and look forward to many great years of stamping. While we don’t have any dogs, we are proud parents to 3 felines “Sammi”, “Kaboodle” and “Misty” who totally rule our household. Thanks for sharing what you love with all of us. You are so down-to-earth in your videos and I love watching and stamping with you.

I think you are hysterically funny and love your sense of humor – I caught the cat card on You Tube and you sound like me…freely admitting that the “Not Me Ghost” likes to move things around on your table and you are not a perfect card maker….. Hi Mary, I’m not sure how I found my way to you but I’m super happy I did. I LOVE your laid back style & the cards you put together. Watching you always leaves me with the thinking “don’t sweat the small stuff” You’re so calm and if something happens or gets misplaced you just roll on with a sense of humor and it works out beautifully. Card making should be fun & relaxing & you show me that it is, not to mention you make it entertaining as well. I too often worry about the little things a smudge or any number of other “oops” that can go wrong. THANK for showing me to “CHILL” and have fun doing it myself like I have fun watching you create.

Hi Mary. I happened upon your videos on youtube before Christmas when I was looking for a tutorial for a z-fold card. I watched several of your videos and really enjoyed the casual, relaxed manner in which you spoke and created. You sound so ‘down to earth’. I am glad that I found your blog, and have learned a little more about you. I loved the cards you made on the videos and look forward to seeing more. I have been making cards for a few years, thanks to my awesome demonstrator Heather Cooper, who encouraged me to ‘keep going’. I find it so rewarding to sit down with some paper, punches, stamps and ink and end up with a card that I feel good about sending to a special someone in my life. I ‘pack up’ a lot of my craft supplies and take them along with me when we go out in our 5th wheel. It is so relaxing to sit beside a lake and make cards. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your videos. Maybe some Sunday I will be able to catch your facebook live. I am on the west coast, so will have to figure out the time difference.

Thank you for the time conversion. I had figured it out to be either 4 pm or 5 pm. Making cards by a lake is very relaxing, unless you get free range cattle coming into your camp site to critique your cards. That only happened once, fortunately. The birds and squirrels are usually a little more respectful of my personal space, lol. I retired last year, so I hope to spend a lot more time crafting in a campsite by a lake.

I am a demo for a year now , card maker since 2002 with a break for a few years in the middle. Linda Heller encouraged me to sign up last saleabrat ion. My friends all encouraged me to also do classes, so I find my self doinng that . Cause as working a full time job, a Pampered chef consultant, mother of 2 teens and a Pastors wife I needed something else to do ! 🙂 lol
So this long note started to ask what does the Lingers mean in Stamps and Lingers?? I read your bio hoping to learn, I asked once in a live video but don’t think I saw the comment. Inquiring minds need to know!:) I think there are others who also must want to know:) at least the night I asked I had others say good question. I wonder if it has to do with your aviation job?

So – when I started my business, I wanted to combine my two loves – the Lingers and stamping….hence Stamps-N-Lingers! It made sense at the time!! Mary, I just found you TODAY! I happened upon your YouTube video from 3 wks ago and found you very entertaining to listen to while watching you make a beautiful card. So of course I had to find your blog! Love your “about me” section w/all the photos! We have several things in common! My husband is a USAF vet of 30 yrs,(Intel); he joined 5 months after we were married. He has been retired about 9 yrs now. It was a great life with many experiences our 5 kids would not have had any other way. We also have horses! It had been our dream since getting married, but of course, it had to wait until Hubby retired. We are down to 4 gelding now – love them all! We also have dogs, but ours are ACDs – a red female, Kimber (aka Chubby Puppy) and a blue male, Sig. The day after Thanksgiving, Sig found a tiny kitten outside our house, so we now have a (now) 3 lb feline terrorist living in our house. LOL Her name is Molly and amazingly, Sig (who is known to not like cats), is very good with her! Thank heaven! I am also an SU demo.- 2 yrs. now. I love all SU products and making projects with them. However, I am horrible about actually sending out the projects! :/

Hi Mary, you funny, down-to-earth, talented, animal loving, aviator among many other things I’m sure I left out! I’ve been watching you for a while. You always make me laugh & try to look at the bright side of things & I’m so grateful to you for that. My first time to visit your blog. Still haven’t figured out what a ‘blog’ is & how it differs from an email or web site & if I knew how to fave, well, I’d do that too! I think I signed up for notifications. hmmm. Not sure what, but I’ll be getting something from you every week. I’ve been trying to figure out how to computer for so long and, to save my life, I can’t figure out how to maneuver those buttons & windows that open & close & when I do do something cool I can’t remember how or what I did to make it happen! Just like the dang cars! You gotta watch t.v. to back up & the amount of air in the tires shows up where the clock is supposed to be! My daughter has a little ring of diamonds around the ignition and she can start it without a key!
You sure have a list of adoring viewers & I’m sure you’re right where you’re supposed to be & doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing & a mighty fine job of it I must say! It’s really sweet to see how you take the time to answer everyone, so cheery & thoughtful as though you have all the time in the world & you choose to spend it with us! Um huh. Awesome. Just really awesome.
In closing Mary I, along with so many others, wish to take this opportunity to thank you & all your comrades for your service that assures us the privilege of all the liberties we enjoy, including but not limited to, the right to express ourselves openly, to choose our religion……or not, to vote for whomever we believe will do the better job & commit to protecting us along with the ideas our forefathers envisioned. To assure law & order that provides us with the environment necessary so we can be allowed to exercise the right to make our own choices & decisions free from oppression & tyranny.
My husband was a pilot in the RAF during W W II & he told me many a story about the atrocities that took place back in ’39 ’til around ’45. Just a short time ago a madman decided he wanted to rule the world. It was a nightmare & truly unimaginable. Millions & millions died for naught. He was stopped by our armed forces & allies. The UK was annihilated. Wow. Hope nothing like that ever happens here. We were lucky. Our troops managed to keep them off our soil. Because of them & all they stand for tomorrow I’ll enjoy dinner with my girls. We’ll go anywhere we want & order anything we want to eat. Then I’m gonna come home & put my pajamas on & then, I’m gonna stamp my heart out & I’ll do that without worry of planes overhead or tanks rolling down my road. I’m so thankful I live in America. Home of the free & the brave. I wonder if there’s anything I can do to make things better?

I found your YT videos several years ago and loved your style, instructing and amusing… wonderful presentations.
After first watching you, I looked at your profile and learned you were a pilot in the AF. I was very curious as to what planes you flew, finally recently you said you flew C-5’s. I just had to Google them and the C-5M Super Galaxy came up. What an awesome aeroplanes they are! Was that the model you flew, or was it an earlier version cargo transport? They are all awesome.
I saw that you presented at On Stage this year. and thrilled your fans with seeing your face, not just your hands. Hey Linda – thank you for the kind words! I flew the A’s and B’s and then worked on the Super Galaxy upgrade/modification before I retired! I didn’t present at OnStage (I would have if they’d asked me, for sure!) but – folks saw me and heard my name on a couple of walks across the stage. It was fun to meet people I’ve “conversed” with on videos! Hope you enjoy the Youtube on this suite! Thank you again! 🙂
