Stampin’ Up! Mary Had a Little Easter Lamb for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2

Good morning, y’all – it’s Thursday and that means it’s Happy Stampers Blog Hop Day!  We’ve got a fun sketch challenge to work with today.

But first – I know you’re all dying for an update on Katy!  She came home today – shot out of the carrier like she’d been….well…shot out of the carrier.  I figured we wouldn’t see her again until May!  But, mere moments later, she came to the kitchen for a big drink of water and within about 30 minutes…..

Katy post-op

…I was graced with her sleepy self on my lap!  I am forgiven!! 🙂  She’s eating well – and I was even able to get her first dose of antibiotic in her.  Greenies Pill Pockets.  Who knew?  I never thought she’d like them empty, let alone stuffed with a giant pill!  But she mucked it right down.  So… one down.  Fingers crossed that she takes the bait 27 more times!

Anywho – on with the blog hop!  Here’s the sketch that we’re all going to be working with today – please take a little time when you’re done here to check out all the projects from my fellow Happy Stampers!

I decided to make a spring-y card in honor of the pretty weather we’ve been having.  I used the cute new Occasions stamp called Easter Lamb, and a sentiment from the Circle of Spring stamp set, from the Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

Easter Lamb Hello Spring 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started by thinking I’d go all Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight.  But part way thru building the card, I decided to add Pink Pirouette to the mix.  So – I started with a Basic Gray card stock panel, that I embossed in the Softly Falling TIEF.  Then I SNAILd it to a piece of Daffodil Delight paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack,

The art piece is cut from several sizes of the Lots of Labels framelits.  I used a second Daffodil Delight paper from the Subtles DSP as well as more Basic Gray card stock to create the series of frames.  The largest cut is from the next-to-the-largest die and then it worked down to the third-from-the-center die as the smallest cut.

Easter Lamb Hello Spring 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I heat embossed the Easter Lamb – inked him up with Versamark, sprinkled White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on him and hit him with my heat tool.  Then I SNAILd all the frames together.

I added a little element  – cuz I could – and used a piece of Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and Pink Pirouette 1/2″ Seam Binding, securing them both in the back with scotch tape.  With it in place, I popped the center art frame on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I used a piece of Pink Pirouette card stock, and stamped the sentiment from Circle of Spring in Basic Gray Archival Ink.  I inked each word separately to stamp them next to each other.  I adhered the strip to another piece of the Subtles DSP in Daffodil Delight, punched the end with my Banner Triple Punch, and adhered it to the frame with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Easter Lamb Hello Spring 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I made both of the flowers by laying pieces of the white Metallic Glitter Tape (the newest Sale-A-Bration item – that you can get for free!) onto some scrap Whisper White card stock.  Then I punched the lambs flower with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack flower punch – and the “X” punch in the Festive Flower Builder Punch!  I stuck them together with Liquid Glue, added a shimmery accent from the Love Blossoms Embellishment kit, and stuck it on the little lamb with Liquid Glue.

The second flower is made with two of the smallest flowers in the Blossom Bunch Punch (Occasions catalog).  I colored one with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker and the other with my Pink Pirouette Marker.  Stuck them together, added the shimmery accent and adhered it to the banner!

The inner liner is a piece of Whisper White card stock, SNAILd onto a Daffodil Delight Subtles DSP Stack mat.  I made another banner using some Subtles DSP and a piece of Basic Gray card stock, punching the end with the Banner Triple Punch.  I also added another of the Blossom Bunch Punch flowers.

Easter Lamb Hello Spring 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the liner into my Pink Pirouette card base, popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!

For the envelope, I added an Easter Lamb in Basic Gray Archival Ink to the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and gave it a Pink Pirouette Subtles DSP liner, cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Easter Lamb Helo Spring 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  I’m a big fan of dark gray, yellow and pink as a color combo and this card ended up hitting the nail on the head!  I’d originally planned to use a Smoky Slate card base.  I think the decision to add the Pink Pirouette into the color scheme was a good one – what do you think? 🙂
