Good morning, y’all – happy Valentine’s Day and welcome to the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop! And, in honor of the day, this month’s theme is Share the Love! I can’t wait to see what all the ladies come up with and I hope you’ll spend some time scrolling thru all their offerings today!
My project is the second installment from the gift items I made for my friend’s wedding this past weekend. Wedding…Love. Made sense to me!
A few weeks back, I made a card using the Falling For You stamp set and the Falling in Love DSP. When I selected this card for them, I decided to make a Gift Card Holder to go with it.
Using the directions in my Gift Card Holder Tutorial, I made the basic gift card, using Blushing Bride card stock for the base of the holder, and adding Falling in Love DSP. You can see those directions right here! 🙂
To make the holder more special, I added a decorated panel, taking inspiration from the card I’d made earlier. In the same way that the bridesmaids all wore long dresses in the same color, but with slightly different styles, I made the gift card holder to coordinate – but not match exactly!
The panel started with a simple piece of the Falling in Love DSP SNAILd to a Blushing Bride mat. Next, I cut a couple of Gold Glimmer Paper leaves with the die in the Stylish Stems Framelits and used some Liquid Glue to adhere them. I also used Liquid Glue to adhere a piece of Soft Sky card stock that I’d cut with a So Detailed Thinlit.
I used the same Gold ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack, securing a length in the back with scotch tape, and using another small piece to tie tightly around the first piece, creating a faux bow.
The sentiment, from the Falling For You stamp set, is stamped in Blushing Bride on Very Vanilla card stock and cut with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit, then matted on a scalloped Blushing Bride oval (cut with the Ovals Layering Framelits). I popped it over the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Like my previous card, the next step was to stamp a bunch of little flowers from the Falling For You set in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. I used Blushing Bride ink – from the lid of my ink pad – and an alcohol-filled Aqua Painter to color them in. To add some depth, I used the Calypso Coral Watercolor Pencil. You can also see I stamped a few Sahara Sand leaves – from the So In Love stamp set. Then I got down to business and fussy cut them all out.
I did a lot of dry-fitting to get the flowers where I wanted them, and then adhered them with Liquid Glue. To finish it off, I added a Blushing Bride and a Soft Sky heart from the Subtles Enamel Shapes. Then I popped it onto the card holder with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On the inside flap of the card holder, I stamped a second sentiment from the Falling For You stamp set in Sahara Sand.
I signed the inside, added my Bed, Bath and Beyond Gift Card and closed it up!
Et Voila! The Falling In Love Suite of products in the Occasions Catalog has all you need for romantic cards and gifts! I love that my wedding card and the gift card holder complement each other so perfectly. Hope you like!
