Stampin’ Up! Marvelous Nature Earthen Elegance Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning and Happy Sunday!  The calendar shows T – 2 days to lift off to Dublin!  My is-it-done calendar shows….T-35 days!  That – in case you were wondering – is a disconnect.  Not ever with the newest, fuzziest math – the kind that asks a kid to do 10 steps to get the answer to “15 divided by 3” – can make that work out, y’all!! But – regardless – it’s coming!

My card today is a CASE of a sample in the new catalog – it’s actually the card that made me take a second look at the Marvelous Nature stamp set.  I combined it with new colors, a little Exposed Brick embossing and some Earthen Elegance DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by the sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday!

I started by embossing a piece of Pebbled Path cardstock in the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder – one of my fave new things!  Tip:  I like to cut my panel a little bigger than my finished size (I started with a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece here) – emboss it – and THEN cut it down to size (3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ in this case).  Especially with these awesome 3D folders – I think you’ll get a truer-to-size panel doing it this way! 🤙🤙🤙

Once I’d cut the panel to the size I wanted, I adhered it to the front of my Pebbled Path card base using Liquid Glue.

I cut a strip of Misty Moonlight Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP and one of Earthen Elegance DSP and used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner in both ends.  Then I adhered them to the card front with more Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the beautiful swallow image from Marvelous Nature in Pebbled Path ink and then adhered the panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the “main event” – I inked the top of the swallow image with the Azure Afternoon ink pad and the bottom portion with the Misty Moonlight pad.  Then using a Sponge Dauber – I blurred the “seam”!  This is such a cool technique to use – I can think of a lot of color combos that would be gorgeous, can’t you?? 😎😎😎

I stamped the image on a piece of Basic White cardstock and then used a Paper Trimmer to cut it down along the edges of the image.  I popped it onto the card front with Stampin Dimensionals.

On a piece of Copper Clay cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Marvelous Nature in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with white Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.

When it was cool – I cut it out with a banner from the Stylish Shapes die set and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few Boho Blue 2023-2025 in Color Dots and the card front was done!

On the inside, I went old school and easy and matted a piece of Earthen Elegance DSP on Misty Moonlight.  I adhered it with Liquid Glue to a Basic White panel.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the panel to a Misty Moonlight mat and into the Pebbled Path card base and the card was done!

Now – here’s where I had a bit of a ….#nonekkidenvelopes crisis.  While the second image in the Marvelous Nature set lends itself nicely to inside panel and envelope front images – this swallow image…does not!  After much soul searching and angst – I resigned myself to a #halfnekkidenvelope and went on with it! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

So…I quit dithering, added some more Earthen Elegance DSP on the envelope flap and called it a day!

Et Voila!  I SO think this pretty Marvelous Nature set deserves a second or third look, y’all – if you passed it up, go back and take another gander – it’s wunnermus!  I’ve got a card made with the wheat image that I’ll be sharing with you soon.  But..don’t wait till then – get it now and you’ll be ready to rock and roll!  While you’re at it, be SURE that you’ve got some Earthen Elegance DSP and the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder in your tool box!

Finn Fan Fix

I found a stick, Mom.

It’s a very very nice stick and I love it so much.

I would like to bring this stick in the house and keep it forever.

Or..until I chew it into a bazillion tiny pieces.
