Stampin’ Up! Trimming the Tree for the SU Demos Fun Fold Blog Hop!

May be an image of book and text that says 'FUN OLDS BLOG HOP HOP with Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrators'

Good morning everyone and welcome to a fun new blog hop!  It’s the Fun Folds Blog Hop for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!  We’ve got a talented line-up and…I think you’re going to like what you see!  This’ll be a once-a-month hop and…all our cards will be fun folds!!  Whoo-hoo!

Now – as you might know…recall…remember…just be hearing about now!…the Perfect Partners promotion is ending on 30 Sept (which is…SOON!).  That means your chance to pick up the cool die sets that coordinate with some favorites from the Jul – Dec 2022 Mini and the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog will be…going away!  I decided this would be a good time to play with the Tree Trimming Dies – this one coordinates with the Trimming the Tree set from the Annual Catalog.  And I paired it up with the stunning and elegant Lights Aglow 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Take a look-see:

And – just to prove I’m not making it up – here’s our challenge – hope you’ll come play along!!

I saw this fun fold on one of my teammate’s blog – Shirley Gentry made a beautiful card using the Sweet Songbirds stamp set and some Happy Forest Friends DSP.  I’m not sure what this fold’s called so…I’m calling it the Front Z Flap Joy Fold Card.  That’s a mouthful, huh??  🙂

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Basic Black cardstock that I scored on the long side at 2 1/8″ and again at 4 1/4″.  Then I folded it to create a “Z”.  That’s the red line below…

I made a smaller card base, using a 4 3/4″ x 7″ piece of Basic Black – scored and folded at 3 1/2″ on the long side.  That’s the “Joy Fold” part – and is depicted by the blue line above! 🙂

I matted a piece of Vanilla-and-gold-embossed piece of Lights Aglow 6″ x 6″ DSP on Cherry Cobbler and used Liquid Glue – only on the LEFT side of this matted panel!! – to adhere it to the front panel of the “Z”.

Then I matted a smaller piece of Soft Succulent paper from Lights Aglow on Cherry Cobbler and adhered it to the inside of the Z-fold with Liquid Glue – and that pretty much got the “z” done!

The smaller card – what I’m calling the Joy Card – started with a piece of black paper from Lights Aglow matted on Cherry Cobbler and then adhered to the front of the small card base with Liquid Glue.  NOTE:  like all Joy Folds – this card opens BACKWARDS – so…take a hot second to be sure you’re adhering where – and in the orientation!! – that you want, okay?!? 😎😎😎

Using the large tree dies – the outline and the matching detail die – from the Tree Trimmings die set – I cut out three trees…one in vanilla Glimmer 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper, one in Soft Succulent and one in Evening Evergreen.

I adhered the glimmer and the Soft Succulent trees with Liquid Glue, then popped the Evening Evergreen tree on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used the Tree Trimmings dies to cut three stars from gold Glimmer 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper – and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped the Trimming the Trees sentiment in Cherry Cobbler then cut it out with the label die in the Tree Trimmings die set.

I adhered the label with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added some gold Adhesive-backed Seasonal Sequins to the card.  The trees all got a few Festive Pearls and the small card front was done.

For the inside, I stamped a second Trimming the Tree sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on a Very Vanilla panel.  In the corner, I stamped the detailed tree image from the set once in Evening Evergreen, once in Soft Succulent, and once in stamped-off-once Soft Succulent.  I added a Daffodil Delight star to each tree.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat and then into the smaller black card base.  Then, using Liquid Glue on the back of the small card base, I adhered the whole thing to the inside back panel of the Z fold card.  Note:  I just centered the card on the back panel – the measurements used mean that it all closes up just right! 🙂

Oh – and that was it for the card!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Trimming the Tree trees in Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, stamped-off-once Soft Succulent and Daffodil Delight on the front…

…and a little more of the Lights Aglow 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – I LOVE this riff on the Joy Fold card (which is one of my faves to begin with!) and I really think it let the Trimming the Tree set – with its bundled Tree Trimmings die set – shine!  And – it give lots of real estate to show off pretty paper – like the gorgeous Lights Aglow 6″ x 6″ DSP!  🙂

I hope you like!
