Stampin’ Up! Honeybee Home on a Daffodil Afternoon

Good morning and happy Plan for Vacation Day.  Yep – that’s a real thing!  So – I urge you to close your eyes and spend 5 minutes thinking of your next vacay.  Is it a tropical island?  A cruise?  Disney World?  My dream vacation…Two weeks at Disney World (at one of the big resorts – not the Motel 6.  Just wanted that to be clear).  Followed by a cruise thru the Hawaiian islands (preferably departing Florida and getting to the islands via an around-the-world sail.  Delay a couple of weeks in Ireland.  Yep – I’ll be gone for like…6  months!  😂😂😂😂 Hey – this is my dream!  Go big or go home, right??

Since I haven’t booked any of that (and probably won’t unless the lottery drops in my lap! 🤷‍♀️) let’s do a card instead, huh?  I pulled out my fave paper – the FREE (with a $50 purchase thru the end of February!) Daffodil Afternoon DSP – and added a little bit of fun from the Honeybee Home stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by The Paper Players challenge this week.

And I selected two elements (circle and twine) for the card based on the Pick Two challenge from Just Add Ink.

I started by adhering a panel of the plaid Daffodil Afternoon DSP on the top portion of a Bumblebee mat using Liquid Glue.  I used a second design on the bottom portion.

I wrapped a length of Bumblebee 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon around the “seam” – securing it in the back with Glue Dots

I used my scissors to trim down a Vellum Square Doily and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut a Bumblebee scalloped circle using the Layering Circles die set – and a slightly smaller smooth-edge circle from a Bumblebee pattern in the Daffodil Afternoon DSP.  I adhered the DSP circle onto the the cardstock mat with Liquid Glue – then adhered it over the top of the Vellum Doily.

I stamped the Honeybee Home sentiment in Flirty Flamingo on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with an Ornate Frames die.

Then I added some “faux” stitches with my Bumblebee Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it onto the DSP circle with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using two lengths of black twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack, I tied a simple bow and adhered it to the sentiment with a Glue Dot.

I added a black Classic Matte Dot to the sentiment and used a Glue Dot to adhere a Bumblebee Trinket below the bow – and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a flower from the Honeybee Home set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink in the corner of a Very Vanilla panel. I also stamped a cute little bee – who I colored with the Bumblebee Stampin’ Write Marker.  I colored the flower with my Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends Combo and the Light Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blend.  I added a few black Classic Matte Dots, too.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Bumblebee mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Honeybee Home flowers and bee on the front…

…and more of the Daffodil Afternoon DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So…black background with gorgeous and stunningly colored flowers plus the prettiest plaid ever?  Yup!  FREE?? Check!  Daffodil Afternoon DSP – free during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 purchase – is the perfect convergence of goodness!  Add the perfectly sweet and wunnermus Honeybee Home and…BOOM Chakalaka!!  Getcha some, y’all!

I hope you like as much as I do!

If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts are listed below!

And…I’ve also created a printable PDF with written instructions and a list of the products used to create this project.  You can download, print and/or save it by clicking this image:

Finn Fan Fix

I was a little worried the other evening when I walked down the hallway.  Wayne was in the kitchen.  TV was off.  And Finn was laying in the living room.

Not sleeping.

Just acting generally…hmmm.

Is it bad that I thought he MIGHT have stolen something that wasn’t his?

Am I a bad mother to be suspicious?

Yes.  Yes, you ARE a bad mom, Mom!  I am doing NOTHING but lovingly chewing Boo Bear! I am totally innocent.

This time. 😉

I love this card. Great layering and those faux stitches add just the right touch! Pretty flowers inside too. TFS. Moms are naturally suspicious. I wish I had a dime foe every time I asked whatchadoin?

    • stampsnlingers

Yup – gotta be. Most of the time it’s innocent, but…that ONE time…YIKES! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

Pretty card. I did find that the Bumblebee C.S. is the same size as the Vanilla C.S. So I cut the Vanilla to 5″ x 3 5/8. Love seeing Finn too!
