Stampin’ Up! Every Chapter Sneak Peek with Color & Contour & Blog Candy Winners!

Well – good morning on Day 2 of 2022!  How’s the year treating you so far?

Want to remind you that TODAY is the last day to sign up for my Designer Paper Shares from the new Jan – Jun 2022 Mini Catalog.  Head over and get your name on my list so that you can give all the new pretties a try! 🙂

Speaking of Designer Paper – today’s card showcases the new Abstract Beauty Specialty DSP and a fun stamp set called…Every Chapter! Take a look-see:

I really enjoy big single stamps and this new Every Chapter really strikes a cord with me…I mean…BOOKS!

I ALSO love Paper Piecing – and this stamp just YELLED to me to give that technique a go!

To that end – I used my Stamparatus to stamp this Every Chapter image….SIX times in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

I stamped it twice on Basic White (one of those pieces is the 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ card front).  Then I stamped it once on some gray “leathery” looking paper from the In Good Taste DSP.  I also stamped it on the light green and blue plaid, solid light green and petal pink papers from Abstract Beauty.

I used my Bronze Stampin’ Blend to color the glasses on the card front image – then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat for the card front.

Then I flexed my fussy cutting fingers and got busy!

The bottom book is cut from the gray leathery-looking paper from In Good Taste.  I left the “pages” out so they’d stay white.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the “book” to the card front book.

I fussy cut the green book (next one up) and the plaid book and adhered them both with Liquid Glue – again not cutting the pages from the DSP – that way the white shows from the card front!

I fussy cut the body of the teacup from the pink paper (it comes out in three pieces” – don’t forget the little pieces behind the glasses!) – and colored the handle with my Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Marker.  I mean – that was a little too much even for a fussy-cut-lover like myself.  If you wanted to – you could easily color this with a Blend, Stampin’ Write Marker or Watercolor Pencil and skip this particular piece of fussy cutting! 😉

For the middle book with the flower – I cut that one from the second image stamped on Basic White.  I colored the spine with my Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend – and the flower with my Bumble Bee and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Markers.

THAT one I adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals cuz…I thought it would be cool and make it look more like a “real” stack of books!

Then I colored the ends of the pages – one with my Light So Saffron Blend, one with the Dark Petal Pink Blend, and one with my Bumblebee Stampin’ Write Marker.  I left the bottom book’s pages white.  But…I was having fun, so…I fussy cut the little bookmark from the solid green image and stuck it on with a dab of Liquid Glue.

I used my Mint Macaron Stampin Write Marker to color the little leaves on the “of our” book spine and the trim on the “I enjoy” spine.  Then I added a Pearl Basic Jewel to the flower and…the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the outline flower from Color & Contour (one of my fave sets in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog) in Tuxedo Black on a Basic White panel.  Then I added the fill image in Daffodil Delight ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Thick Basic White cardbase, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Color & Contour flower on the front…

…and some more of the pink Abstract Beauty Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – if you love books – or even just big, bold, beautiful stamped images! – then the Every Chapter stamp (yes – there’s only ONE stamp in the set!) is for you!!  You don’t have to do Paper Piecing – look at…Stampin’ Blends, Watercolor Pencils, watercoloring (try using your Clear Wink of Stella Brush as your “paintbrush”!).  There are LOTs of ways to make this beauty shine!  And… the Abstract Beauty Specialty DSP is so pretty – lots of color and gold foiling!

I hope you like!

If you’d like to re-create this card, all the products you’ll need and the card cuts are down below!

Finn Fan Fix

Ever since the gentle admonishment from the vet, we’ve been working towards making Finn a little taller.

Not sure how that’s going to work out, so…JIC, I’ve gone back to an old trick I learned years ago.

Punkin’ Pie.

Without the….pie.  Or the crust.  Or…the whipped cream.

Straight up punkin!

Short the dog food a little and add a couple heaping spoons of plain pumpkin puree.

Wouldn’t think a dog would like it – but most do.

Finn….REALLY…does!  He licks that bowl (and the spoon, given the opportunity!) clean every meal!

And – this got the seal of approval from Dr. Chris!  Good fiber – helps him feel full, but…lower calories!

Sigh…dieting is…EVERYWHERE! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

  1. Incredible!

  2. Kathryn Lee Howe

Wow! Paper Piecing is a new technique to me! I don’t mind fussy cutting but
I might need a video! I loved the card design and I love books as a retired high school English
Teacher the stamp set is my favorite! Our dog Meeko has a teaspoon of pumpkin twice a day on her dry
Food twice a day. Of course she only weighs 14 lbs so she only gets less than a quarter cup of dry food. She loves her pumpkin and she jumps for joy for each meal! Just ask her if she’s happy!

    • stampsnlingers

I’ll maybe do a video with it – everyone can just bring a hot beverage and settle in for a long-ish evening! 😉 Finn jumps for pumpkin, too! He can hardly wait for me to mix it in! Sounds like your Meeko is a happy happy girl! Thanks, Kathryn! 🙂

  3. Such a sweet card! And that’s some serious fussy cutting! If only I could eat pumpkin of the none-pie variety…maybe I could drop a few pounds too! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – I think I’d need a little of the “pie” part to make it edible. And some chocolate sauce. Hence the reason it’s not likely to work to get ME taller! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  4. I completely overlooked this stamp, but your card is wonderful! For a book lover like me, I am surprised I didn’t trip to how great this one is. Your fussy cutting and coloring is superb!
Poor Finn, but maybe not, Poor Finn. Hey, if he likes it, and cleans his plate, that is good. I wish a little pumpkin puree was all I needed to ‘get taller.’
    Happy New Year!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – if Pumpkin succeeds in making him taller – I’ll be in! Yes – this is a wonderful set – for book lovers everywhere! Thanks, Julie! 🙂

  5. Love this ‘pile of books’ card! And happy to hear that Finn loves pumpkin. He will be ‘taller’ in no time soon. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Kylie – and thanks for taking time to come by! 🙂
