Stampin’ Up! Frosted Gingerbread for a Holly Jolly Christmas Triple Square Card and a Blog Candy Winner!

Good morning!  It’s a BIG Day!  I’ve already ordered our new Jan – Jun 2022 Mini Catalogs and Jan – Feb 2022 Sale-A-Bration Brochures and will be mailing them out to you (you know who you are!) as soon as I can.  And I…MIGHT?…have done a little more pre-ordering!  I can’t wait to share more new goodies with you!

I’ve got a fun card for you this morning!  I saw a Triple Square card – made by LeeAnn Greff – and thought it was too fun.  So…I made one for myself.  I used the Gingerbread & Peppermints DSP and a couple of sentiments from the Frosted Gingerbread and Holly Jolly Christmas stamp sets.  Take a look-see:

The red-white-cream color palette is from the Cupcake Inspirations challenge!

I started with a Real Red card base and – to the front and the inside – adhered a piece of Real Red plaid paper from the Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP pack, using Liquid Glue.

I ran a Very Vanilla panel thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine inside the NEW Gingham Embossing Folder (this is coming SOON in the Jan – Jun 2022 Mini Catalog!).  Then I matted it on Basic White for the card front.

To make the “triple square” I started with a square of the Regals DSP – same design that I’d used on the card base – and matted it on Basic White using Liquid Glue.

The next layer is a same-size square of Gingerbread & Peppermints 6″ x 6″ DSP – also matted on Basic White.

I used my Grid Paper to help me get the two matted squares lined up correctly – then adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment – I cut a 2″ square of Basic White and stamped the big sentiment from Holly Jolly Christmas in Real Red.  Then I matted it on another square of the same Real Red Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP that I’d been using.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the sentiment onto the layered squares.  You can see from the photo above that the sentiment “diamond”  is lined up in the same orientation as the BOTTOM large square.  THAT and being “matted” with the same paper as the bottom square – is what creates the illusion!

I adhered the whole thing onto the Very Vanilla card front with Liquid Glue.

I added some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment and some peppermints from the Frosted Gingerbread stamp set in Real Red on a Very Vanilla panel.  Those three peppermints are all on one stamp – and they fit perfectly in a corner!

I added a Red Rhinestone, then used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic White mat and then into my card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Frosted Gingerbread peppermints on the front…

…and added some more Gingerbread & Peppermints 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this Triple-Square technique, don’t you?  I think I need to try a few more cards using it!  I really like how this one turned out – with the marriage of the Holly Jolly Christmas and Frosted Gingerbread sets.  And the addition of the Gingerbread & Peppermints DSP was kind of perfect (she says modestly!)!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

When looking for signs of “winter” – SOME people look for falling leaves.  Snow.  Overcast and blustery days.

For us? We look for all that.  But the REAL signs are fuzz-bucket ponies and…

Wayne atop the first bale of the season going into the pasture.  Complete with covers and insulated hoody!

THAT means winter is here for real here at the Deatherage house!

  1. Such a pretty card! Love the colors and the design is perfect! Yeah, we had our first bit of snow up here yesterday too. Thankfully it didn’t stick around…but I think that means that winter is officially here too!

    • stampsnlingers

Yup – sounds like winter is breaking out all over! 🙁 But – it’ll be Spring eventually! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Crystal Muirhead

I love the combo of vanilla and white. I’d have never thought that! Beautiful card!!

    • stampsnlingers

I wouldn’t have either without the color challenge! But I DO like how it turned out! Thank you, Crystal!

  3. Susan K

My first thought—after wow—was how creative to use the vanilla to soften it and call more attention to the art piece…before I saw the challenge colors! Great use of the colors! Love this!
Yep, feeding hay is a sure sign winter is here. I’m glad I don’t have to do that anymore!

    • stampsnlingers

I know – never would I ever have thought of the color combo otherwise – but…it totally works! Thanks much, Susan! 🙂
