Stampin’ Up! Merriest Moments Encircled in Beauty Christmas

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day, y’all!  And….it’s the 8th – which means that the brand new uber-cute Christmas Kit (take a gander at it on page 6 of the Jul – Dec 2021 Mini Catalog!) called Christmas Whimsy will be available today!!  Be sure to check it out tout-suite (that means speedy-quick!) so that you get a couple three – they’d be great gifts!!  Get a few and you’ll earn Sale-A-Bration reward!  Winner WInner!

My card today is a Christmas card, to be sure, but…not from the kit!  I used strips of Tidings of Christmas DSP to make a backdrop for an Silver Encircled in Beauty die and some gorgeousness from the Merriest Moments Bundle.  Take a look-see:

And here’s the Inspired By challenge that…uhm…inspired!…the card front!

And I was so tickled to see a color challenge from the CAS Colours & Sketches that had my current most favorite color palette!

The scrappy challenge was excellent because…Hello.  My name is Mary and I am a hoarder of DSP pieces AND die-cuts-that-I-cut-and-then-changed-my-mind-about-using.  I have a little dish on my desk filled with die cuts.

So…my Encircled in Beauty die cut circle – from a piece of foil from the Silver Foil Specialty Pack…and the Basic White Stitched So Sweetly rectangle and scalloped Layering Circle die cuts were all sitting in that little bowl just waiting to be used!  And I had a bunch of pieces of Tidings of Christmas DSP, too!

To create the card front, I cut my leftover pieces of Tidings of Christmas DSP into strips of varying widths from 1/4″ to 5/8″.  Then, using Liquid Glue – I adhered them onto a piece of Basic White cardstock.  I let all the strips hang over the edges of the panel – then trimmed the excess with Paper Snips.

Then I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the strip-covered panel to a Polished Pink mat for the card front.

I adhered my Encircled in Beauty die cut to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped my leftover Basic White scalloped circle with some little splatter-dots from Merriest Moments in Polished Pink and added a “frond” image in Evening Evergreen.  Then I popped the circle over the Silver die cut with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped three holly leaves from Merriest Moments in Soft Succulent on Basic White and a couple of “fronds” in Evening Evergreen and cut them out with their matching dies in the Merriest Moments dies (part of the Hybrid Embossing Folder bundled with the stamp set).  And I stamped the “Joy” sentiment onto my Stitched Rectangle die cut in Evening Evergreen.

I adhered the sentiment and then the die cut leaves/fronds to the circle with Liquid Glue and a couple of Dimensionals for the sentiment.

I cut a couple of short lengths of Soft Succulent 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon across the leaves.  Then I stamped the larger flower petal from the set in stamped-off-once Polished Pink and the small one in full-strength then cut them with their coordinating dies.  I adhered them together with Liquid Glue – then added a couple of even smaller Polished Pink cardstock flowers to the top.

I added a few 2021-2022 In Color Jewels in Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Merriest Moments in Evening Evergreen on a Basic White panel.  In the corner, I added some berries in Polished Pink and some foliage in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen (both full strength and stamped-off-once).  Then I added a few more Soft Succulent 2021-2023 In Color Jewels (cuz I love them so much!).

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Polished Pink mat and into my Soft Succulent card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the berries and foliage on the front…

…and a little more Tidings of Christmas DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the scrappy strips technique for a card front – and the Tidings of Christmas DSP is a gorgeous option for it, don’t you think??  I’m also tickled to use up some die cuts – like the too-pretty Silver Foil Encircled in Beauty Die cut and Stitched So Sweetly sentiment.  And – even without using the Embossing Folder that is part of the Merriest Moments bundle – the flower and foliage I was able to create using the stamp set and dies are…stunning!!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn was sitting with me the other evening.

Happy.  Enjoying life.

And then his Dad discovered a slightly….shredded….paper towel on his way to the kitchen.

Naturally, Dad asked who might have done such a thing?

Uhm…the cat??

  1. Love your design! Perfect way to use up those scraps to are too pretty to toss. 🙂 Paper towel? What paper towel…I have no idea what you’re talking about. Definitely was the cat. 😉

Poor Katy – being blamed as a ghost! 😂 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Faith Simpson

    LoL….Finn is so cute…..and so innocent….???
this is a beautiful card, Mary!! I love the strips……and you are right about those colors!! Gorgeous!!

    • stampsnlingers

He misses his sister – no one to blame, anymore! 😉 Thank you so much, Faith! 🙂

  3. Pat C.

Very pretty card, Mary. I’m loving the polished pink with those greens, and the card layout too.
Finn…his “who, me?” look is too funny! 😍

  4. Dianne Ray

Oh my, LOL. You are too good, Mary, with pics of Finn

  5. Danni Reid

Goodness this is so elegant and gorgeous! So happy to see your card in our IB gallery, and that you could “love” your scraps. They’re too hard to throw away because they’re so beautiful but then to use them to create this Christmas card, perfect!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Danni – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Stunning project with the colors. Thanks for playing along with us at CAS Colours and Sketches Challenge. Looking forward to seeing your creative projects in the future galleries.

  7. I love how you’ve used the colours on a Christmas card! Such a beautiful card! Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Colours & Sketches:)

  8. ah….Finn! I have 3 dogs that show the 2nd face way too often, someone is always guilty! Its hilarious to look at my husky…she quite obviously grins when she gets her belly rubbed. My other girl gives us a huge smile (showing her teeth) when we walk through the door after an outing. So hilarious these four legged babies (and ponies) are.
But I digress, the matter at hand is your card! It seems we have the same issues when designing cards – I have a thought, follow through with the thought, then for one of oh so many reasons, the thought changes. I too have tons of cutting “errors” in my stash to select from. Just makes some other project a little easier….hopefully! Your card is fantastic, love your use of scraps/leftovers, so glad you had enough scraps for this weeks color challenge to create a card that is so much fun to see. Thanks for joining us this week at CC&S and look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery.

LOL! That grin can be a little intimidating if you’re not used to it!! But it always makes me laugh. Your kids sound like a lot of fun! I have a bad habit of keeping pieces of DSP that are too small to really do anything with – you know…Just In Case!! Thank you so much – and give those puppies a pet! 🙂

  9. A beautiful Christmas card Mary and a great way to use up those scraps! A pretty use of our colours too although I think the ‘clean and simple’ aspect of your card might need a little work lol! Thanks for sharing with us over at CAS Colours and Sketches this week!
