Stampin’ Up! Gather Together Gilded Autumn with Video Tutorial for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – Jaydee’s got a cool sketch challenge for us this week.  It’s a good one –  that I know will give your creative mojo a bump!  So I hope you’ll come and play along with us!

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

I used one of my favorite bundles of all time – the Gather Together stamp set with its gorgeous Gathered Leaves dies!  And I also brought out some In Good Taste and Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

And here’s our Paper Players badge – I hope you’ll come and play along! 🙂

The color palette is from this week’s Color Throwdown Challenge!

And I also played along with the Global Design Project theme challenge.

I started with some barnwood paper from the In Good Taste DSP (on sale now – but only thru the end of the month!) that I matted on Cajun Craze for the card front.

Next up – I cut three Stitched Rectangle Die cuts from two different foil-embossed patterns in the Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP and adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.  Tip:  adhere the middle rectangle first – then add the other two equi-distant on either side of the first one.

Using all three of the awesome cutting and embossing leaf dies from the Gathered Leaves Dies, I cut one of each from two different shades of Brushed Metallic Card stock.

I also cut a few Very Vanilla berries using the die from my berry-go-to set…the Poinsettia Dies.

On a piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped the large leaf from Gather Together in stamped-off-once Crumb Cake.  Then I added a sentiment in Cajun Craze and cut it out with the matching Gathered Leaves die.

I built the collage with the metallic leaves and Very Vanilla berries – all with a Gold Hoop Embellishment as a focal piece.  I used Liquid Glue for all the leaves and a couple of Glue Dots for the hoop.  Tip:  You can see that some of the leaves are on top of the hoop and some under.  That’s a fun way to add some depth and interest to your collages!

Finally, I added the sentiment leaf with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a final Brushed Metallic card stock leaf to the sentiment.  I ran two lengths of Linen Thread thru the top of an Acorn Trinket and tied a bow.  Then I adhered it with a Glue Dot.

A few Gold Metallic Pearls nestled here and there finished off the card front.

On the inside. I added a stamped-off-TWICE Crumb Cake leaf in the middle of a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I stamped a second sentiment in Cajun Craze over the top.  I added a single gold Metallic Pearl to finish it off.  Who says embellishments can’t be on the INside?? 😉

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Crumb Cake leaf on the front…

…and a little more pumpkin-strewn Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Really.  Is it any wonder this Gather Together set – with the wunnermus Gathered Leaves dies – is one of my favorites….EVER??  I mean – it’s like Stampin’ Up! made this just for me!  And…for you!  Cuz you NEED this bundle (and it IS bundled – for a savings of 10%.  I hope it keeps going into the next Annual Catalog – but even if it does – I am betting it won’t be bundled!!).

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

It happened.

The worst.

It WASN’T all about pony spa days.

There was an agenda.  A hidden one.

An….EVIL one!

Yes.  We rode the ponies on Saturday.

For like…15 minutes.

Longest.  Fifteen.  Minutes. Of their LIVES!

The horror.

Finn was safely in the house so he wouldn’t inadvertently cause any….unexpectedness!  😉

  1. Your girls are so beautiful…so is your card!

  2. Love this card Mary! The fall colors are perfect, fantastic layering under your sentiment too! The poor girls…you were awfully mean to them. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

We were. We really really were! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Paula Poindexter

    The girls will forgive you.
    Finn might not.
    The girls are beautiful.
    So is your card.
Finn is the most handsome Aussie I’ve never met.
Always enjoy your posts Mary, even if I dont say so.
    Hugs

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Fiona!! Peppermints go a LONG way in garnering forgiveness – from the girls AND from Finn! 😉

  4. Faith Simpson

well, it goes without saying that this card is on top with the most gorgeous ones ever!! Loved watching you create it.
Question: do the ponies really hate the saddles? Hate being ridden?? I want them to love it. In stories, the faithful horse just lives to take the master somewhere….is that just a story? Hope they got some peppermints!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Faith! Appreciate it! No – they don’t HATE the saddles or being ridden. They love attention (and peppermints!). I was being a little facetious! But…if they could get loved on and pepperminted without having to actually do any WORK – they wouldn’t turn it down. 😉

  5. bhholcombe

Your card is beautiful, Mary! Thanks for playing along with us at the Color Throwdown this week!

  6. Beautiful!! I LOVE the blooms!

  7. Wow, Mary, what a stunning card! I am always in awe of your collage building skills, they always look so perfectly designed with all sorts of beautiful details! Thanks for sharing the photo of your horses, they are just too beautiful!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Stef – I think they’re pretty gorgeous myself! I think it’s all that blonde hair! 🙂 Appreciate the kind words on my card, too! 🙂

  8. Ann Schach

Absolutely stunning, Mary! Your cards are always the BEST!

  9. Joanne James

That cluster of layered leaves looks great with the metallic pumpkin paper background panels – a card full of autumnal goodness Mary!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much, Joanne! Appreciate you coming by with such a nice comment! 🙂

  10. Fab fall card, Mary! This is one of my favorite fall sets and you showcased it beautifully. Love the metallic detail.

  11. Such a gorgeous fall card. I so love the ponies! I have not ridden in ages, I am sure my horses would be in shock to even see a saddle headed their direction!

    • stampsnlingers

Yeah – they weren’t overly excited!! 🙂 Thanks, Allisa! 🙂
