Stampin’ Up! Many Mates Whale Done Cngrats Card

Happy Monday, y’all!  Sorry to start the week with an oxymoron! 😉

I made a fun Congratulations card for you guys today using the Many Mates (yes – a most-awesome sentiment stamp set!), Whale Done and the Whale of a Time DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

And I used the inspiration photo from this week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.

I started with a piece of the wunnermus Whale of a Time DSP that I matted on Calypso Coral for the card front.

Next, I embossed a Whisper White panel in the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder, matted it on Calypso Coral, and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The horizontal element is another piece of the Whale Done DSP, matted on Calypso Coral and adhered with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I cut a third design of the DSP with the largest square Stitched Shapes Die.  In the corner, in Calypso Coral ink, I added a Many Mates sentiment.  Then I popped the square onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I fussy cut three turtles from one of the DSP designs and adhered the two smaller ones to the sentiment square with Liquid Glue (and a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to support some of the parts hanging over the edge…). The bottom turtle is popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

I used little dabs of Liquid Glue to adhere a few Whale of a Time Sequins and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second Many Mates sentiment in Calypso Coral to a Whisper White panel.  Then I stamped the turtle from Whale Done across the bottom of the panel in Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point and Blackberry Bliss.  I added some Pool Party bubbles. 🙂

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Calypso Coral mat and into my Pacific Point card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Whale Done turtles and bubbles across the front…

…and a little more of the Whale of a Time DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  I love the gorgeous images in the Whale of a Time DSP, don’t you? And fussy cutting the turtles really turned out cute, I think.

Also handy that there’s that cute turtle image in the Whale Done stamp set – making it easy to carry the theme into the inside and onto the envelope!  Many Mates lends the perfect sentiments to the whole thing! 🙂

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

We got hay the other day.

You knew that cuz I toldja.

Thought you might like a picture or two of the process.

Once we get the hay home – the real hot and dusty work begins.

Thankfully, Wayne does most of the hard stuff – with the help of the big tractor – complete with A/C and a radio!

Get it off the trailer….

\

Drop it on the ground to get it up on end and then carry it to the barn.

Then he stacks it in  – using that giant tractor like a precision instrument!

Finn – in the meantime – is helping me supervise from the golf cart.  Which has NEITHER A/C nor radio!

Tongue deployed.

The end result is…10 bales in the barn…

…And two more in the hay room!

Will last us close to a year!

Life is good!

  1. Love your card! Those little turtle are so cute! I look a bit like Finn when I’m outside right now too…I do not love the heat! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – I was totally panting, too. It’s seriously yucky here this year! Hope we get a break soon. Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Love the colors, layering, DSP, design…the whole shootin’ match! I think his tractor’s sexy 🙂 Love Kubotas as they remind me of NC. You and Finn must be exhausted supervising in this heat. Does your tongue hang out like his? LOL!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – that supervising is hard work, for sure! Whew! And yes – I’m sort of a sucker for a guy operating heavy equipment – especially one who does it as good as Wayne does! He’s sort of a genius with the big toys!! Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂

  3. Audrey McFadden

Enjoyed your blog, as always. Am waiting patiently (?) for my Whale Done paper and stamps to arrive!
I also ordered the Snowflake Splendor set. I love the card you made with it and decided to make my Christmas cards with it this year. So I ordered the whole kit and kaboddle!
Oh, and tell your hubby that the next time he needs a new tractor, the green ones are a nicer colour! Can you tell that my hubby worked for John Deere for 32 years? I am brain washed!!
Looks like your horsey cupboard is well stocked. Finn is a great snoopavisor!

    Audrey…a newbie Canadian demonstrator.

    • stampsnlingers

Well – welcome to SU!, Audrey. I know you’ll have fun with it! We like JD’s, too – have a second tractor at our place in NC – and it’s the “green one”! But…Kubota orange is a pretty darned good tractor, too – so I guess we’ve got all the bases covered!! LOL!! Thanks so much, Audrey! 🙂

  4. Faith Simpson

    Hi Mary,
Love your card today…..cuz you used my favorite suite…..well, one of my favs….the current annual catalog is just the best ever.
I’m always amazed at that hay-getting process. Twice a year? or more? Did the girls see all that food being stored?? Happy place!

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – they were stuffing grass in their mouths as fast as they could on the other side of the property! We go once a year – ish. Sometimes we’ll go a second time to really fill the barn but…not usually! 🙂 And yes – the current catalog is truly wonderful! Thanks so much, Faith! 🙂

  5. Faith Simpson

oh…..I just saw that it will last almost a year……yay!!

  6. Sandra Warthen

    Love the smell of hay

    • stampsnlingers

Me, too – right until I have a sneezing fit or need my inhaler! 😳😳😳

  7. Karen L

That is a great card. Isn’t that Whale DSP beautiful. Just love the colors & the water creatures!!
Job well done!! On both of your projects!! Really, 12 large bales will do you for a year?? I sure thought you needed more then that……I’m not a horse owner but I thought you would need more then that amount of hay for a year! I always am learning something from you…….cards & critters!! Thanks.

    • stampsnlingers

Well – they’re about 800 pounds each. And they only get hay when they’re in the stalls at night. They’re on pasture during the day! So – that cuts back consdierably. If they were in the stalls 24/7 (well – they’d be very unhappy!) we’d go thru quite a bit more. 🙂 Cards and critters!! Yep! That’s why me SU! team is the Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew! 🙂 Thanks, Karen – and yes – the Whale DSP is some of my favorite paper! 🙂

  8. robbier52

Love the bright colors on your card. Very eye catching. Thanks for playing along with us at HSS.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Robbie – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  9. Susan K

I love love love that paper and your card. Great take on the sketch and inspiration challenge.
I remember getting up hay before we had those big round bales; we cut, raked, baled, and then loaded on it truck by hand! And we didn’t have a good helper-dog either. Sure glad those days are long ago memories!

    • stampsnlingers

Yup – bucking hay like that is tough – and it’s ALWAYS on the HOTTEST days of the year. ALL-Ways. Covered in sweat – hay – and dirt. Ahh – the glamour of farming!! 🙂 Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  10. Beth Ann Halvorson

Absolutely love your turtle card, and THANK YOU so much for the pretty card in the mail. I got it yesterday and it was sweet and *might* have made me a little teary for a moment! I appreciated it very much though!

    • stampsnlingers

Well – I’m happy it arrived, Beth Ann. And thanks so much! 🙂

  11. What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Hay? Yep, been there done that the hard way with the little square bales. Yep, hottest day of the year….ALWAYS!! Green vs. any other color, Yep! When my tenant showed up one day with a red tractor (he is a JD man) I told him this farm had never had one of those on the property, so I didn’t know what might happen.
Oh, yes, and the card. How could I forget the card?? Love it, of course. Patiently (?) waiting for my set to arrive. I especially like the fussy cut turtles. And, that embossing folder!! Wow.
Pity the supervisors sitting in the heat!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL = true statement – ALWAYS the hottest day of the year! We’re a non-denominational tractor family! We have Kubota-orange AND JD green! And Bobcat-white! All bases are covered. Thanks so much, Julie! 🙂
