Stampin’ Up! World of Good Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a clean-and-simple Theme challenge from our amazing Ann this week and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo!  I hope you’ll come and play along.  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

I went – once again – to the wonderful new Beautiful World Bundle – part of the World of Good Suite in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.  And…it’s a fun-fold.  Again.

Sorry?

Nope – not sorry.

Take a look-see:

And here’s this week’s Paper Players theme challenge!  Hope you’ll join the fun and show us your projects!  I can’t wait to see what you create!  🙂

I also played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge – going across the middle row!

I first saw this fun-fold on my friend Karen Ksenazakovic’s blog and decided to try one of my own!

I started by cutting my piece of Early Espresso 8 1/2″ x 11″ card stock as shown in the video.  First I scored it at 5 1/2″ along the long side.  Then I scored it along the short side at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.

Using my Paper Trimmer, I cut out the small rectangles on one side.

Once I folded the card stock, I was left with a tent card that holds a secret “gate card” on the inside!

Next, I adhered some wordly paper from the World of Good Specialty DSP to the front of the card base with Liquid Glue.

I cut a piece of Bumble Bee card stock and embossed it in the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.  With a sponge, I lightly brushed over the raised areas of the card stock with Crumb Cake ink.  Then I tore the edges of the panel and adhered it to the card front, on an angle, with Liquid Glue.

With the die in the World Map Die set (bundled with Beautiful World), I cut out a bunch of North America world dies (there’s also a die with the “other” half of the world) from Crumb Cake and used Liquid Glue to adhere them to a Crumb Cake panel.  Then I used my Trimmer to cut the panel down to the size I wanted – and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using SNAIL, I adhered a length of Bumble Bee 2020-2022 In Color 1/4″ Ribbon and a piece of the open-weave ribbon in the new Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack (all this ribbon will be available to you on 3 Jun!!).

Using the dies in the World Map Die set, I cut a Mossy Meadow circle and a detailed globe and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.  I also cut a “stand” from some new Brass Foil (coming 3 Jun), and added it with Liquid Glue, too.  Then I adhered it to the card front.

I tied a double-loop Linen Thread bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I stamped the Beautiful World sentiment in Mossy Meadow on Bumble Bee card stock and cut it with a die from the Tasteful Labels Die set (3 Jun).  Then I popped it over the bow with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I matted two pieces of World of Good Specialty DSP on Bumble Bee and then to the gates with Liquid Glue.

On the All-the-Way-Inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Beautiful World in Mossy Meadow on Whisper White.  Then I added a compass in Crumb Cake over top.  In the corner, I stamped a Mossy Meadow inkwell and Crumb Cake quill.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Bumble Bee mat and into the card base and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the inkwell and quill on the front…

…and more of the World of Good Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I LOVE this hidden-gate fun fold (I just made that up – I have NO idea if that’s what it’s called!), don’t you??  It’s another great opportunity to showcase our beautiful papers and stamp sets, like this Beautiful World and the bundled World Map Dies, and World of Good Specialty DSP!  This is going to be a go-to Suite when you need a masculine card, I am thinking!

I hope you like!

And I can help you get this stamp set – either now as a new demonstrator (yes, you can select pre-order goodies for your Starter Kit!!) or after 3 June (consider my Online Host Club!!).  Give me a shout!

Finn Fan Fix

I give you…Wayne “training” Finn to leave his plate alone after lunch.

Step 1 – place plate on arm of chair…

…ensuring dog sees said plate.

Step 2 – using hand signals, tell dog “leave it”.

Step 3 – analyze dog’s reaction to “leave it” command.

Expert analysis of reaction….uhm….unprintable on a public blog.

Step 4 – assess efficacy of training session.

Expert analysis…epic FAIL. 😉

Better luck next time, Dad!

  1. Love your card! The layers and the colors are perfect! Hahahaha…yep, that looks like a bit of a failed session too. Poor dad, Finn has him trained so well! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes. Yes he has! He’s a very benevolent trainer! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Great masculine card. Thank you for the video and diagrams. Cute Finn story line!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Karen – glad that you like it! 🙂

  3. Karen

Mary, I love your card. I am obsessed with this set, it will be the first bundle I order. I also really like this fun fold . Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for sharing your designs with us!

  4. Super fun card, love how you made the background. Great textures!

  5. Ann Wilcox Schach

Absolutely beautiful, Mary! So much texture…so many yummy layers! I agree…this is going to be one of the must have suites in the new catalog!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Ann! Appreciate you coming by! 🙂

  6. Stef Perry

Great card for a grad, love all the layers and embossing! Two things about your Finn piece – first it’s hilarious how “well” the training went and I had to laugh as we still have plates with that same pattern from a number of years ago! Obviously we both had good taste for rustic images!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! What a small dish-world!! It’s a great set of dishes! Thanks very much, Stef – and yes. The training went…”well”… 😉

  7. Need I say it? I LOVE this card and this bundle! I would agree with the analysis of the training session, and the look Finn gave Wayne was priceless. He appeared to be incredulous that such a command would even be considered, much less given! And, probably unprintable if it were spoken in English. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – I am frequently grateful that I can’t speak dog! 😳 Thanks so much, Julie – I do love this Suite!! 🙂

  8. Joanne James

Gorgeous Mary and great fun fold too, even if not so CAS with all that detail and those lovely layesr 😉 I think you could be right that this will be a super popular suite. I love that you used my TTT board over at TicTacToe too!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Joanne! Layered CAS – that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! Enjoyed your TTT challenge, too! 🙂

  9. Great card…love all the layers and textures!!

  10. Mary, this must have taken ages – but the effort was worth it. Like everyone else, I think this is going to be a very popular suite my task is how I am going to make CAS cards from it! It really is one of those suites that screams “use lots of fabulous elements”.
