Stampin’ Up! A Special Day for a Special Someone

Good morning again, y’all!  Hope you’re already ordering from the 2020 Coordination Product Release OR looking to save a little money with one of my Special Bundles!  You can scroll down to get all the deets!

My card today is a teaser – to help you realize that you NEED the Special Day Dies – which, as part of the Coordination Product Release – coordinate with the sweet Special Someone stamp set in the 2020 Jan – Jun Mini Catalog.  Take a look-see:

I got inspiration for this one from this week’s FUSION challenge!

I started with a piece of Daffodil Delight paper from the Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP, matted on Granny Apple Green for the card front.

Then I cut a piece of Balmy Blue from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I created two pieces of “grass” with the grass die in the Special Day die set – one from Garden Green and one from Granny Apple Green.  I adhered the Granny Apple Green grass directly with Liquid Glue – and popped the Garden Green piece on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut a piece of Whisper White – and cut a “frame” from it with a Stitched So Sweetly rectangle die.  Using a Journaling pen, I created doodle-dot-dash-doohickeys all around the edge of the frame.

I stamped the sentiment from Special Someone in Granny Apple green on the bottom of the frame.  Then I used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it over the card front.

I stamped some critters from Special Someone – the squirrel outline is Early Espresso with stamped-off-once Early Espresso “fill in”; Rackety coon is Early Espresso with Crumb Cake “fill” and the field mouse is Basic Gray with Gray Granite fill.  I cut them all with their dies in the new Special Day Die set.

I also stamped a whole field of large and small flowers in Granny Apple Green and Garden Green.  They’re all “filled” with Daffodil Delight (yes, there’s a stamp for both flowers!).  They’re all cut with dies in the new Special Day set!

I laid everything out and, before sticking it all down – I used Tuxedo Black to carefully stamp butterflies here and there around the “scene”.  I LOVE these tiny little images, don’t you??

Then, using a combination of Liquid Glue and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals – I placed all the critters and flowers.

I stamped a few more butterflies on the top of the frame – coloring them with the bullet-end of my Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend.  I added small or medium Rhinestone Basic Jewels to all the flower centers.

I tied a double-length bow from some So Saffron Baker’s Twine (Metallic Baker’s Twine and Sequins Pack from Sale-A-Bration) and adhered it over the stems of my bouquet with a Glue Dot.  And that was it for the card front. 🙂

On the inside, I added another TWO sentiments from Special Someone in Granny Apple Green on a Whisper White panel.  Next to it, I added a flower in Garden Green and Daffodil Delight – and adhered a Rhinestone in the center.  I stamped a few Tuxedo Black butterflies – coloring them with the bullet-end of my Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Granny Apple Green mat and into my Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more flowers and butterflies on the front…I put Rhinestones in the flowers because this card is destined to be inside a package for mailing…

…and I added more Balmy Blue Subtles DSP to the envelope flap.  And…another flower and butterflies, too!  Can you guess why the extra stamping on the back?!?  LOL!

Et Voila!  I LOVE that almost all the images in the stamp set have a matching die PLUS there are extra shapes, too – like the grass and some sweet bows….The images and sentiments are so sweet and cute.  Being able to cut them without FUSSY cutting is just a huge bonus!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

There’s been a murder.

It was a grizzly scene.

It was obviously a crime of passion.

It appears the victim’s stuffing was – literally – picked bit by bit from his tiny body.

With obvious relish.

The victim, identified as Mr. Bear, was missing vital organs – most notably his Squeaker – when first responders arrived on the scene.

There was a single witness – and elderly female who was in shock at the writing of this post.

No suspects have been identified at this time, but authorities are attempting to locate a person of interest.

If you see this POI, please do not approach and call authorities at once.

Stay tuned for breaking news as it become available.

  1. What a sweet card! Love the colors and the gingham DSP is perfect with your little critters. Oh my, that is quite a scene…I am sure that everyone is a suspect, including the old lady. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Nope. She is maintaining her innocence! 😉 Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. You cracked me up with your story line today. Too bad there weren’t any surveillance cameras on the scene! Wayne will probably never get Mr. Bear together again. I love the colors of your card and the layering and design. Those dies are a “must have”.

    • stampsnlingers

No one’s security cameras ever work in these situations, do they?!? Thanks very much, Karen – and yes. MUST have them

  3. Gerri K

    Oh Finn, how could you!!!!
Mary, this card is awesome! So adorable with all the critters. Love it!

    • stampsnlingers

One. Tuft. At. A. Time. Just takes patience and perseverance! 😉 Thanks, Gerri! 🙂

  4. Faith Simpson

oh Mary, you do make me LOL altho murder isn’t exactly a laughable thing…..however, it seems to be a universal happening because I’ve walked into scenes just like that in my home!! It’s always good when first responders arrive in time to prevent vital organs being swallowed…especially squeekers….!!
Now….I’ll stop laughing long enough to tell you I think your card is adorable. I do love those little critters, and I’m SO glad that Stampin Up provided all these coordinating dies. They double the pleasure….they double the fun…..(isn’t that a jingle??)

    • stampsnlingers

I believe it IS a jingle! Yes – I was happy to find the squeaker before it ended up down “someone’s” throat! Thanks very much for the nice words, Faith! 🙂

  5. Susan K

Oh mercy me!–on the card and the murder! I absolutely, positively, without a doubt LOVE LoVe love this card and will have to CASE it! Thanks for the great directions. Poor Mr Bear. I wonder if Doc Wayne can bring him back to life.
All raccoons in Wilbar are named Ranger. We had an indoor/outdoor cat named Ranger and when I’d call him to eat, the raccoon got to where he’d come too, once coming up on the deck and waiting, looking up at me, like yeah? I’m here! Set the food down! 😂🤣

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! Ranger sounds like a real character! I’m afraid Mr. Bear is beyond even Dr. Wayne’s considerable skill!! 🙂

  6. This card is adorable! I have to CAS it for Octavia. She will love it!🙂

  7. BarbGhig

Super cute critters and I love how you used the color palette, Mary! I also love how you completed the inside of your card, too…so pretty! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Fusion!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Barb – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  8. Cyndie

Loved your card. That is one of my favs out of the catalog. I look forward to reports on Finn. He never fails to make me smile. And he has that look of innocence. But who is the REALLY POI?

    • stampsnlingers

      I’m afraid it….HIM!! 😉 Thanks so much, Cyndie!! 🙂
