Stampin’ Up! Grace’s Garden Gateway Sneak Peek

Good morning!  Do you realize this is the last Sunday in 2019?  Wowza – the year seems to have flown by!  As we head into 2020….are you a Resolutions person?  Or…do you just see what comes and roll with it?  I’m not really one to make resolutions – I USED to say I was going to go on a diet.  Or exercise more.  Or… Or… Or…  But, it always left me failing to meet my own standard, so…I gave that up!  I suppose you could say I resolved to NOT make resolutions – and finally found one I could keep! LOL

If you were able to join me last night for my LAST FACEBOOK LIVE OF 2019….I appreciate you spending part of the weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube – here ’tis!

The card I made is sort of a CASE from the new 2020 Jan-Jun Mini Catalog – they have a really pretty example using the Grace’s Garden stamp set and bundled Garden Gateway Dies, and I thought you might like to see how to make it for yourself.  Take a look-see:

I decided I’d play along with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge for the end of the year.

I started with a piece of Sahara Sand card stock.  In the middle-ish, I used the outline die from the Garden Gateway Dies to cut out the gate-shaped opening.  Then I laid the panel on top of my Highland Heather mat to line up the opening – and cut the same shape – in the same place.

Finally, I lined the whole thing up on the front of my Whisper White card base, and cut the shape a third time.  Thus…a window was created! 😉

I embossed the Sahara Sand panel in my Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder, then dragged my Craft Whisper White ink pad across it to vintage-ize it a bit.  Then I adhered it to the Highland Heather mat with Liquid Glue.

I cut the Garden Gate from a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock and adhered it to the card front using Liquid Glue – only on the archway – not across the bottom of the gate.  I left the gates connected for now.

On another piece of Whisper White, I stamped several of the flower images from Grace’s Garden in Basic Gray ink.  Then I used an older Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to color the flowers.  I gently squeezed the ink pads to put ink on the inside of the lid – then picked up the color with the brush.  I used Granny Apple Green for all the leaves.  The flowers are in Highland Heather, Melon Mambo and Rococo Rose.

Then I stamped a little bird in Blueberry Bushel and used the Glitter Brush to “pull” ink and color him.

I cut out all the flowers and the bird with the dies in Garden Gateway.  And I also cut two leaves in Granny Apple Green.

I layered the leaves and flowers onto the sides of the gate with Liquid Glue.  The “top” flowers are popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  You can see I snuggled the bird in, too, with a little Liquid Glue.

At this point, I carefully snipped the gates “open” with my Paper Snips.  I stamped the “Hello” sentiment from Grace’s Garden in Highland Heather on Whisper White, cut it out with a Stitched So Sweetly die (coming on 3 Jan!) and adhered it to just one side of the gate.  And the scene was complete!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment – in Basic Gray.  Then I sponged around with Highland Heather.  I added more flowers in Basic Gray, a couple of picket fence images in Sahara Sand and a little birdie in Blueberry Bushel.  I even adhered another die cut flower over the fence image.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Highland Heather mat and into the Thick Whisper White card base and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Sahara Sand fence and a die cut flower on the front…

…and the smallest Grace’s Garden flower image on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the Grace’s Garden Bundle so much, y’all – it let’s me create the kind of English cottage garden I can only DREAM of doing “for real”!  So much easier with paper and ink!!  I hope you like – and have it on your “must-have” list!

Not for nuthin’ – you COULD get this set  – and whole lot of other awesome-ness – at a great savings, as part of my Special Bundle #8 – The Say It In Ink Bundle!!  Check it out!

  1. How could I not have ordered this when Secret Garden is my fave childhood book? With your demo on how to make, it’s a must have now!

  2. Such a beautiful card! Love the colors and the design is perfect! Poor Finn…he needs to come to my house for Thanksgiving so that he’s not so overwhelmed by it all at Christmas. 😉

OMG! I love this. I was on the fence about this set but I can think of so many who would love this card! I’m off to watch the video–it looks complicated! But so gorgeous! TFS

  6. This bundle was the first one I bought when it became available to us! I just had to have it! And you just reinforced why! Thank you so much for case:ing this card. You did a beautiful job with it. Your tips will help to make it a lot easier for me to make. I know we don’t decorate the back of front flap, but, I agree with the frame. I also thought I’d stamp the pickets on both sides, but am afraid it would be too much! I’m so glad I found this video today! Again, Thank you for sharing!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much – I’m happy that you like the card and video.. Have fun with this gorgeous bundle! 🙂

  8. Lauri Dulis

Thanks so much for all the helpful tips on making this gorgeous card. Don’t think I could have figured that all out by myself from looking at the catalog. I want to do about 20 of them for Easter cards, using the sentiment in the new Easter set. Hope it fits.
