Stampin’ Up! Feels Like Frosted Beautiful Boughs for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use the gorgeous photo-realistic Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP for it – letting it really shine thru.  I paired it up with the Frosted Foliage and Peaceful Boughs bundles to make…this!  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch!

I also played along with The Paper Players theme challenge…

I started by matting my beautiful Feels like Frost Specialty DSP on some Pretty Peacock for the card front.

With the Beautiful Boughs Dies, I cut a couple of boughs from Vellum card stock.  Using my Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend, I colored the BACK of the boughs.  On the front, I added some Shimmery Crystal Effects and then sprinkled them with Ice Stampin’ Glitter.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the sentiment from Peaceful Boughs in Pretty Peacock.  Then I cut it out with the smaller label die from Beautiful Boughs.

I cut a little Silver Foil banner – snipping the ends with my Paper Snips.

Finally, I cut three Silver Glimmer Paper berry-boughs with the little die in the Frosted Frames die set.

I adhered the Silver Foil banner with Liquid Glue.  Then I used a Glue Dot to add some loops of Silver Metallic Thread.  The berry-boughs and Glitter-covered boughs were next – adhered with Liquid Glue.

I popped the sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish off, I added some Pretty Peacock gems from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones set and a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a Frosted Foliage sentiment in Pretty Peacock to a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I stamped some berries from Frosted Foliage in Silvery Shimmer Delicata Metallic Ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Frosted Foliage berries in Silvery Shimmer Metallic Ink on the front…

…and some more woodsy Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP does all the work – with a quick assist from the Peaceful Boughs and Frosted Foliage bundles – to create an icy Christmas Card!  I love the sparkly Pretty Peacock Vellum boughs, too, don’t you? I hope you like!

Purple Posy Ink To Be Discontinued Permanently

Stampin’ Up! provided us with an update about Purple Posy Inks.  Despite their efforts to resolve issues with Purple Posy ink, they’ve learned that the ink color is still shifting over time.

All of Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive ink colors are run through a vigorous series of tests to get ahead of challenges like this, and to ensure colors are accurate and meet our standards of coordination. Purple Posy DID pass regular testing standards in time-simulating ovens, but they’ve now identified that it fell short when it came to actual time passing. The color begins to shift once the ink has rested in the ink pad for about six weeks.

This means that the color isn’t coordinating with our other colors as strictly as SU! requires.  Due to these ongoing challenges, they’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue Purple Posy classic ink as of November 5, 2019.  The following items will no longer be available to purchase:

  • Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Pad (item 150084)
  • Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 150091)
  • 2019–2021 In Color Classic Stampin’ Pad Assortment (item 150087)

All other Purple Posy products (such as Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker, Purple Posy Cardstock, Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends, etc.) will remain available for purchase.

So – I know this is disappointing to many of you – but…I am actually pleased that SU! is taking this step.  One of the major draws of Stampin’ Up! products is the color coordination across the different products.  We can count on things matching up as we create!  And if Purple Posy isn’t “matching up” – then….this is the right thing to do!

Already purchased the ink pad a refill?  While Stampin’ Up! can’t replace Purple Posy ink pads for customers who’ve already received them, anyone with concerns regarding the color shifting properties of their Purple Posy ink pads may contact Demonstrator Support and receive a $7.50 coupon code as compensation. The coupon codes will expire on January 1, 2020.

Thanks for your understanding, y’all!
