Stampin’ Up! Come and Gather for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s Hop is a color challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with –  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop!

When I saw the color combo for the challenge – I immediately thought – Come to Gather DSP.  Then I spent a little time hemming and hawing and decisioning.  Like…for about 5 seconds.  WAS this the right choice??  Should I go with the unexpected??  And then I remembered back to my college days – the first answer you believe to be true…usually is.  So…I stuck with my original choice and added some beautiful leaves and sentiments from the Gather Together Bundle.  Take a look-see:

And here’s our color scheme – so pretty! 🙂

When I saw the CAS(E) This Sketch layout this week – my brain “saw” the card!

This Gather Together bundle – with the Gather Together stamp set and Gathered Leaves Dies – is a fave – cuz it perfectly lends itself to my favorite card element – the Collage! So, of course that’s what I did!

I started with the wonderful wood-grain paper from the Come To Gather DSP and matted it on Cajun Craze for the card front.  I used a second design, also matted on Cajun Craze, for the horizontal strip element.

I cut yet another – predominantly Pretty Peacock – paper with the largest circle Stitched Shapes Die and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue – letting one edge hang off.  Then I trimmed that excess with a Paper Trimmer.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere a Tags & Feathers Element directly to the card front.

I inked up the large leaf from Gather Together in Early Espresso, stamped it off once on scrap paper and then stamped it on a piece of the wood-grain Come To Gather DSP.  Over that, I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock and then cut the leaf with the matching Gathered Leaves Die.  I adhered it to the wooden tag with Liquid Glue.

I used my Stampin’ Spritzer to lightly mist some Pretty Peacock and Cajun Craze card stock and cut out the three smaller leaves from both colors (giving me 6 cut-and-embossed leaves). While they were still damp, I lightly curled them with my fingers.

I carefully adhered five of the leaves around and under the sentiment leaf, using Liquid Glue.  Then I used a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals under the points of the sentiment leaf to fully stick it down.

I added the sixth leaf to the wooden tag with Liquid Glue.

I created a double-loop bow using a length of Cajun Craze Linen Thread (from the Come To Gather Ribbon Combo Pack) and a length of Linen Thread.  I just used the two lengths together as I wound the bow – and I reduced the number of loops to two big and two small!  I stuck the bow on with a couple of Glue Dots.  The final touch was three copper-finish Designer Elements.

On the inside, I added a second Gather Together sentiment in Pretty Peacock to a Whisper White panel.  Over the top is another leaf – in stamped off TWICE Early Espresso.  I also added a few splatters in stamped-off-THREE times Cajun Craze.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a full strength Early Espresso leaf and Cajun Craze splatters on the front…

…and more Come To Gather DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The entire Gather Together suite simply screams I LOVE FALL, don’t you think?  The Gather Together stamp set is perfect with it’s images and sentiments.  And…the Gathered Leaves dies – that emboss as they cut (with no additional pads/shims needed!) – is simply…wunnermus!  And they complement the gorgeous Come to Gather DSP like peanut butter does chocolate!   I hope you like!
