Stampin’ Up! Dinoroar Back On Your Feet Get Well Card

Mornin’, y’all!  Happy Memorial LABOR Day!  UPDATE:  I was just reminded that this is LABOR day – not MEMORIAL Day!  Sheesh – my brain is like a danged sieve.  So…Happy Labor Day.  Sorry for being such a goof!

But…still Take a moment, today, okay?  And send up a Thank You to those who Gave It All to defend our way of life in this wonderful country! That’s important EVERY day!

My card today is the direct result of me looking thru my stash of cards and realizing I that I don’t have much beyond Christmas Cards!  And what I NEEDED was a Get Well Card!  So…I made one!  I used the sweet Back On Your Feet stamp set and paired it with some jungle-y paper from the Dinoroar DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with a panel of Mango Melody card stock, embossed in the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder, cut down to size and matted on Pretty Peacock for the card front.

The next layer is a piece of paper from the Dinoroar DSP, matted on Pretty Peacock and adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the artwork, I stamped the too-cute sloth from the Back On Your Feet stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White and cut it out with a square Stitched Shapes Die.

I colored the sloth with my Granite Gray Stampin’ Blends in Light and Dark.  The branch is Light and Dark Soft Suede and Old Olive for the leaves.  Then I stuck him on with Liquid Glue.

I ran a length of Pretty Peacock 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon across the panel – adhering it with a few Glue Dots.

The sentiment, from Back On Your Feet, is stamped in Pretty Peacock on Whisper White and cut with the Classic Label Punch, then adhered with Liquid Glue.

I decided I needed some leaves, so I pulled out my Lovely Leaves Dies and cut two in Pool Party and one in Old Olive.  These are adhered with Liquid Glue.

I added a Linen Thread Double-Loop bow with a Glue Dot, then adhered a few Pretty Peacock Rhinestones from the Noble Peacock Rhinestone pack – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added another sentiment from Back On Your Feet in Pretty Peacock on a Whisper White panel.  For the leaves, I pulled out the Dino Days stamp set and added them in Pool Party and Old Olive.  Then I added a single Pretty Peacock Rhinestone.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Dino Days leaves on the front…

…and I added more of the jungle-y Dinoroar DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think the little dudes in the Back On Your Feet stamp set are simply the cutest ever – and the sweet sentiments match them perfectly!  And – the Dinoroar DSP has way more uses than just for kiddie cards!!  I hope you like! 🙂

If you love this Dinoroar DSP (and…who wouldn’t??) – you’re in luck!  It’s one of the papers that are eligible for the Buy Three Get One Free DSP sale starting this Wednesday, the 4th of September!!  You’ll be able to get all stocked up!

Finn Fan Fix

The other morning, I’d just finished watering my newly planted kale, spinach and collards (better late than never, huh?) and Wayne and I were sitting on the porch behind the barn, enjoying a rare cool-ish morning.

Finn, of course, was laying with us.

Now – he had the entire porch and the patio to pick from for his “spot”.

Instead – he happily settled himself down in a loop of the hose.

Like being fanatical about the “Stuff” in Cerah’s muzzle….one simply has to wonder….WHY??

  1. Sweet card! Love the fun designer paper, perfect with your little sloth with the hurt paw. 🙂 I’m guessing that Finn picked the hose because he wanted to make sure that he didn’t miss out on anything exciting if he should happen to close his eyes for just a minute. 😉

Guess he thought if he was uncomfortable, he wouldn’t fall asleep? That’s possible! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. I love the colors you chose. That sloth is so darn cute (my daughter loves them and giraffes) that I’m going to have to order this set! Perfect layout for the sketch challenge.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Karen – the sloth was the reason I got this set, too! 🙂

  3. Karen Metzger

Mary Its Labor Day in Ohio and feels like it. Maybe it feels like Memorial Day in your neck of the woods

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – it’s Labor Day here, too – I just…LOST?….a few months! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  4. Elisha Smith

Wonderful card! I love the jungle DSP with that adorable sloth! I used to mix up Memorial Day and Labor Day too, but then I realized the two M’s go together: May/Memorial 😉 Finn is such a mystery child! Lol!! My daughter (horse/dog lover) and I laugh at his shenanigans often. Have a great Labor Day!!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh, he’s a shenanigan, for sure!! But one that always keeps us laughing! Thanks much, Elisha! 🙂

  5. Faith Simpson

Oh I laughed to myself when I read “Memorial Day”…..I thought that’s what happens when we retire…..we never know what day it is….or I guess which Holiday…..I’ve found that 3-day weekends don’t matter as much now….being retired is the best!!
I love seeing what Finn is up to…he just wants to hang with his “pack”.

    • stampsnlingers

Who knew it would happen so FAST!?!? Yikes! Finn is ALL about being BY! Which is straight up awesome! Thanks so much! 🙂
