Stampin’ Up! Botanical Butterfly Gala

Hello from Maryland!  Made it yesterday in decent-ish time (have to say – the traffic thru DC was ridiculous especially given that it was Saturday – I’ll never complain about Atlanta traffic again!). I was pretty whooped (I’m not as young as I was the last time I made this trip!) so only sort of unpacked the car – just enough to be able to go to bed.  Will finish that today and get my “nest” made!  Keep an eye on your FB notifications later this evening – I may hop on for a few minutes to give you a gander at my home-away-from-home for the next 5 – 6 weeks – if I can get it all together!

So my card for today is one that uses the gorgeous – and FREE during Sale-A-Bration! – Botanical Butterfly DSP and the Butterfly Gala stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The fun layout is from this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.

I started with a Black check design from the Botanical Butterfly DSP and matted it on Daffodil Delight for the card front.  Then I matted two more designs on Daffodil Delight and adhered them both to the card front!  Easy peasy and pretty!

For the sentiment, I stamped the Butterfly Gala sentiment in Grapefruit Grove at a jaunty angle on a Whisper White square.  Sort of overlapping it, I added a pretty butterfly in Daffodil Delight ink.  Then I colored it with my Dark Daffodil Delight and Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends.

I added some journaling doodle-do’s with my Journal Pen, matted the panel on Daffodil Delight and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To ice the cake, I tied a double-loop bow from Old Olive Linen Thread and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  In the middle, I added a Grapefruit Grove Nature’s Twine bow with another Glue Dot.

I finished off the card front with two Lemon Lime Twist Glitter Enamel Dots!

On the inside, I added another butterfly in Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral to a Whisper White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Butterfly Gala butterfly on the front…

…and a little more of the gorgeous Botanical Butterfly DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Folks – this beautiful Botanical Butterfly DSP is STILL AVAILABLE for FREE – with just a $50 purchase (before shipping and tax)!  But – Sale-a-Bration (and your chance to get ahold of this paper!) is coming to a rapid close.  Just two more weeks to cash in on free goodies!  And don’t forget to pick up the Butterfly Gala stamp set while you’re at it!  You NEED it! 😉  Hope you like!

  1. I knew he had your back so I didn’t even take a sip of coffee! Glad you made it safely. 5 – 6 weeks yuch! As long as you have your craft nook, that eases some of the away-from-home pain. Looking forward to seeing your haven.

Yes – as I set everything up today I could actually feel myself relax. I NEED my stuff around me – my craft things, the food I want to eat. Familiar stuff makes it easier to cope with everything. Thanks much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Carol Rogers

Hi Mary, I found you on Pinterest a number of years ago and have been following you and your cards. I live in Maryland and probably not far from where you are located for the next 5 weeks.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh cool! Maybe we can get together, Carol, and make a card or two! Turns out I’ve brought plenty of goodies for us to play with. Drop me an e-mail if you want!! I’m in White Marsh. 🙂

  3. Love your card, Mary. Great take on the sketch! I’m glad we still have these pretty papers to play with.

  4. Pretty card! I do love that designer paper and you’ve used it perfectly! Sweet picture of the Finn butt…if only we were all so cute when we slept. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Right?!? People are WAY less cute! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  5. Charlotte Hutcheson

Mary, I do love that Butterfly paper…so much that I got two packs when I could. I must have missed the reason for this trip…inquiring minds want to know, please. Have a good one.

I’m up here for my “real” job running another test! Will be home in May. Thanks for asking, Charolotte – and I’m so glad that you got a couple of those paper packs while you could! 🙂

  6. Susan K

Glad you made it there safely. Love the fun design and the way the butterfly looks like it has no outline. Finn is sleeping like he has no care in the world–little knowing mommy is gone for a while. 😢

    • stampsnlingers

I know. I’m a mean mother, for sure. But I’ll be home before he knows it! Thanks much, Susan! 🙂

  7. Debbie

Beautiful card!! Great papers, and I love how you placed the straight sentiment on the angled square!
Thanks for playing along with us at Tuesday Morning Sketches!
