Stampin’ Up! Rooted in Nature Easel Fun Fold

It’s Monday.

That’s pretty much all I have to say about that, okay?  I really think those two words (three if you count the contraction) say it all, don’t you?

If you were able to join us for my Facebook Live video last night, thanks so much for spending part of your weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see how to make this easy fun-fold card with the new Rooted in Nature stamp set and bundled Nature’s Roots Framelits, then you can check out the Memorex (google that if you’re too young to know what Memorex means….) version right here:

This new set, which you’re going to be able to get for yourself in like…LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!…is so pretty and cool!  And – when you add it to some Wood Textures DSP – take a look-see:

And – if you’ve been paying attention and READING what I send – you’ll know this is an easel card (one of my very favorite fun-folds!).

For the front, I used the CAS(E) This Sketch layout for inspiration.

And my color scheme is from this week’s Just Us Girls Color Challenge.

I started with a gray-ish toned Wood Textures DSP and began to build my design across the bottom for the card front.  First, with stamped-off-once Coastal Cabana (yep – it’s coming back on 1 June!), I stamped the larger leaf image from the Rooted in Nature set a couple of times without re-inking.  Then I did the same with the smaller leaf – using the new Gray Granite ink!

With that done, I matted the panel on Night of Navy card stock.  Then I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere some Night of Navy 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon.

With my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I aligned and stamped the sentiment from Rooted in Nature in Night of Navy, just above the ribbon.  Then, I wrapped a couple of loops of Linen Thread around the ribbon, tying it in a knot in the front.

I stamped a couple of Granite Gray (stamped-off-once) small leaves on the Wood Textures DSP and one in stamped-off-once Coastal Cabana – and cut them with their matching dies in the Nature’s Roots Framelits dies.

I used a Glue Dot or two to adhere the leaves to the ribbon.  Then I added a silver Leaves Trinkets leaf.

I went with a double-loop Billie Moan bow in Linen Thread, adhered with another Glue Dot – and topped it with a simple bow in new Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine.  And that was it for the card front!

Now – I don’t normally adhere the card front to the card base until the inside is done – but for an easel card, I do.  That way I can see the placement for my “easel stop”.  So – I used some Tear & Tape Adhesive on a Gray Granite card base (4 1/4″ x 11″ – scored and folded at 5 1/2″ and 8 3/8″).  I only stuck the bottom portion of the card front to the smaller bottom portion of the card base.

For the inside, I matted another piece of the Wood Textures DSP to a Night of Navy mat and adhered it into the card base with Liquid Glue.

Then I stamped and cut more of the Rooted in Nature leaves on Wood Tectures DSP – in stamped off once Gray Granite and Coastal Cabana.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered them together in a nice little pile.  Then I put a bunch of Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and popped it onto the inner liner for the “easel stop”.

For the inside sentiment, I inked part of the image from Rooted in Nature in Night of Navy and stamped it on Whisper White.  Then I cut it with the Classic Label Punch and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card!

My Whisper White Medium envelope got stamped-off-once and then stamped-twice-without-re-inking leaves in Gray Granite and Coastal Cabana on the front…

…and a little more of the Wood Textures DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila – seriously, this is like my favorite fun-fold to make!  And I love the sort of changed up “easel stop” made with a pile of Rooted in Nature leaves, don’t you?  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Popcorn.

We eat a lot of it here.

Cuz we like it and also cuz it’s pretty low calorie.

Which is why I eat it.  Wayne just likes it. 🙂

Finn is also not overly concerned with the calorie count.

He just likes it.

A lot.

Throw.  A.  Pop. Corn.

Throw.

A.

Pop.

Corn.

If you ever ever EVER THROW. A. POP. CORN. to an Aussie….

You’ll be forever eat-one-throw-one-eat-one-throw-one….repeat until the bag is empty.

And you’ll likely have to prove to the Aussie that the bag is really really empty.

Fair warning.

  1. Such a beautiful card! Love the soft colors on the woodgrain background and the easel design is perfect!

We seem to have this problem with cheese at our house…if you open the cheese drawer in the fridge, Ginny will be under your feet in a matter of 2 seconds, no matter where she is in the house!! It’s amazing how well they train us. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – Finn can hear the cabinet door open that houses the kitty treats. He’s there in a heartbeat from a dead-snoring-upside-down-under-the-fan sleep at the other end of the house. Uncanny! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Loved your easel card last night and still love it this morning. Finny is funny!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks much, Karen – glad you were able to be on with us! And yes – he’s a funny little man! 🙂

  3. Beautiful!

  4. Jean Maas

the card was lovely, can’t wait for my set to arrive,(maybe today). Sharon #2 really enjoyed the video says she will try to be back next Sunday. She is not a stamper yet, but I can fix that. lol

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks Jean! Glad Sharon #2 enjoyed the video! And I know you can make her a convert! 😉

  5. Kate

    Very nice card!
The Finn would have to fight me for the popcorn. It is my go-to, and absent it = grumpy. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

He’s pretty persuasive! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  6. Robbie Miller

First of all, love the card … love the colors and I definitely need that Bundle.

Now to popcorn … love popcorn … yummy and low calorie … win win for me.
I also get (have) to share with one of my dogs … he has a sixth sense and is a total pest when I’m eating it (which is almost every evening). Like me, he likes it extra salty … he must be my “Spirit Animal” at least when it comes to popcorn … LOL !!!

    • stampsnlingers

Haha! Perhaps he is! Sharing with animals – sigh…. Thanks, Robbie! 🙂

  7. Lisa Kind

Love this card and I love easel cards. My MIL loves the because she says the fronts of my cards are too heavy and fall down! With this type, it props up nicely! But your card is beautiful! Thanks for playing with Just Us Girls!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! Well – yep – an easel card will surely fix that! 🙂 Thanks so much, Lisa – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  8. carol

Your easel card, inspired by the two challenges, is absolutely gorgeous! Those leaves are oh-my-stars stunning! So thrilled that you shared your creativity in the Just Us Girls gallery!

Thanks very much, Carol – the challenges were fun! 🙂

  9. Lovely Rooted in Nature card, Mary. Love your blog style, too. And, of course, love seeing Finn – they’re all alike. Ours (part Australian – maybe?) hears the crackers wrapper from the nether regions of the house.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! From a total, paw-twitching, snore snorting sleep! Too funny – and yes. They’re all so similar! Thank you so much, Sue! 🙂
