Stampin’ Up! Varied Vases In Color Fun-Fold Thanks!

Mornin’, y’all!  Friday rolled around again!  Love how it does that, don’t you?

I decided to do another fun-fold for you today – one of those ones that looks totally cool (and completely “hard”) but is just a few extra folds and cuts.

This one uses the Varied Vases bundle and the new 2018-2020 In Colors – including the new Designer Series Paper in Lovely Lipstick!  With the addition of a perfectly perfect sentiment from the All Things Thanks stamp set – take a look-see:

My color scheme is from The Paper Players color challenge this week.

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Thick Whsiper White card stock for the card base.  Score and fold it at 2 1/8″ from each short end.

Boom.  Gate Fold!

I matted two pieces of Lovely Lipstick DSP from the new 2018-2020 DSP on some Pineapple Punch card stock for the two front panels and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

The art and sentiment is on a piece of Whisper White card stock, also matted on Pineapple Punch.   I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (still time to get you one of these if you haven’t!) to position and stamp the sentiment from the All Things Thanks set in Call Me Clover.

The vases from Varied Vases are all stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  This is a photopolymer set – so it’s easy to line everything up!  I added Tuxedo Black flowers and colored them with my Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch and Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Write Markers.

I stamped a few more Tuxedo Black vases on the Lovely Lipstick DSP and fussy cut them – then I popped them over the stamped vases with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a tiny Linen Thread bow and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.  And – that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added a Whisper White panel matted on Pineapple Punch.  It’s got a Call Me Clover sentiment from Varied Vases and a couple more vases on the bottom.

I made a quick belly band of Whisper White – just cut a strip 2 1/4″ wide and long enough to wrap around the closed card.  Adhere the ends together with some Liquid Glue (or your could use Tear & Tape Adhesive).  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the card front to the bellyband and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple more Varied Vases on the front…

…and I added some more of the Lovely Lipstick DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Easy Peasy Nice and Squeezy!  Varied Vases is absolutely one of my fave new bundles (the Vases Builder Punch is so cool!) and I am tickled that we’ve got the Designer Series Paper back in the In Colors!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

So – Finn sort of abdicated his spot to Wilbur today.

But first – I wanted to let y’all know that Finn made the Animal Medical Clinic of Fairburn’s FB page!  Check it out here – and give them some love (ie: Like!)!  They saved his Finny-life!

Now.

Wilbur is making it pretty darned clear that he’s 1) not wild and 2) pretty sure he wants to be a Deatherage.

Check it

.

See him?

He’s inside a little “house” that he’s created under a carriage in our barn shed-row.  Right behind the horses.  It’s pretty close quarters (no wild pig is going in there) – and he gets all snuggled down and pig-snores….

I’ve started giving him handful of horse feed when I feed the horses.

We feed family.

Right? 🙂

  1. Barbara Riefner

Sounds like Wilbur will make a nice addition to the family. Has Finn seen him yet?

    • stampsnlingers

Oh yes – they’ve talked. Finn isn’t sure exactly WHAT Wilbur is – and would really like a closer close-up. Wilbur doesn’t yet think that’s a great plan – and neither does Finn’s mom. Baby steps! 🙂

  2. Susan K

Love your fun fold and belly band with the cute vases. I feel a CASE coming on!
Yes, we feed family but word spreads around here that we feed and we end up with lots of visitors too. Glad you’re making Wilbur welcome.

    • stampsnlingers

I really REALLY hope he doesn’t spread the word. REALLY REALLY!! CASE Away, Susan – and thank you! 🙂

  3. Mary,
I love this card!! Love the way you overlapped the vases and then accented a few of them with dsp. So pretty!
Thanks for the updates on Finn and Wilbur. It’s so cool that a pig wants to belong to your family. Can’t say we have any roaming around in NJ.. At least not in my neighborhood lol

    • stampsnlingers

I don’t know if it’s cool or not (my feelings are mixed…) – but he’s certainly figured out which side his grass roots are buttered. Or….something like that. I think he’s ours now! 🙂 🙁 🙂 Thanks so much, Gerri – this is really such a fun bundle! :)_

  4. Beki Rich

That is a fun card, love the ideas for decorating the envelope too. I hope Finn and Wilbur become good friends, we may see The Adventures of Finn and Wilbur, written by Mary, owner of the animal sanctuary.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – now there’s a title for a book, heh?? It is sort of feeling like the Wild Kingdom around here!! Thanks so much, Beki! 🙂

  5. Robbie Miller

Sweet card and sweeter story !
Finn and Wilbur are lucky animals … hope he (Wilbur) sticks around 🙂 !

    • stampsnlingers

Crazily enough – so do I, Robbie. Thanks so much! 🙂

  6. I like that you attached a card front to the belly band so that’s it wider and bigger. Heaven knows we don’t have small, narrow belly bands! The little eye peeking out … piggies are just the cutest! and you’ve now got a smart one! Yes, I agree a book should be in order…perhaps a child’s book that all adults will love to read. You really need to retire 😉

    • stampsnlingers

I know. I really need to pull up my wider-and-bigger-banded-big-girl panties and just pull the trigger. But…I just can’t seem to do it yet! But a book – that does sound fun! 🙂 Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  7. Dona

Great card and the cute belly band solves the age old problem of keeping a gated fold card closed. 🙂 Congrats onyour new family member.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks – I think! Wasn’t in the market for any little piggies – but I confess he’s sort of amusing me! And he’s just pretty darned cute! Thanks much, Dona – glad you liked the card! 🙂

  8. Awesome card Mary! Those colors are just perfect together. Great design with the belly band too. I know that Wilbur would figure out that he had it pretty good hanging around your place. He’s no dummy. Can’t wait to see the first time that he talks you into bringing him in the house! Ha! 😀

    • stampsnlingers

Well – I figure he might like to come to one of our meetings with Finn! Ha back atcha! 🙂 Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

      • LOL! Literally! What a great comeback for Amy. Maybe you could take them both to the retreat?

      • stampsnlingers

Hmmm….they said Finn’s too big…I’m just guessing Finn would be, too! But it would sure make for some awesome pictures, wouldn’t it?! 🙂

  9. Kate

    Nifty card!
The Finn has achieved fame in the annals of veterinary medicine. Seems like a dubious honor, but WAY better than had he not.
I agree…doubt a wild pig would get into a cranny like that. Although I hasten to add that my knowledge of wild pigs is limited to what I know of those who terrorize scouts camping on Catalina Island.

    • stampsnlingers

I don’t know nutin’ bout no wild pigs, Miz Scahlett! But I do figure wild is wild – and they most likely wouldn’t get themselves essentially trapped like that on purpose! That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  10. Pauline Silano

Glad you are adopting Wilbur. Pigs – even big ones are very good pets. They are super smart, friendly, and did you know that they would rather be clean than not. I think he might like a bath with Finn 😁

    • stampsnlingers

So far he’s not a fan of the hose – he scampers off a bit when we spray the buckets! But – he’s a cutie patootie, for sure. And not nearly as big as we thought – I’m certain he’s a pot-belly! 🙂 And I now that I’m getting to know him, I’m officially hoping he stays around! 🙂

  11. Mary, this is such a fun gate fold card. Love the beautiful vases of blooms! SO happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week! XX

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Claire – I appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  12. Even though I do not have this stamp set on my wish list, which is already too long, I really like this card. Maybe it’s the colors, or maybe it’s the gate fold, but, more likely it is just that I like it. Very pretty and creative to use the card front on a belly band. Great idea I may just have to CAS.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Julie! It’s so easy and yet so pretty!! A great fun-fold! 🙂
