Morning, y’all – it’s Finally Friday! And I’m glad. It’ll be nice to not have to think about the “real job” for a minute – I’ve sorta got my hands full fretting about Finn. Full Finn Fretting, if you will. It’s a full-time job, for certain sure. 😉
The card I made today is clean and simple – and made easy by the existence of the Climbing Orchid bundle – which includes the Orchid Builder Framelits! When I added a bunch of pink orchids to some Wood Textures DSP I got…well, take a look-see:
I borrowed the layout from the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge.
And I also played with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. I went right down the right side.
I started simply – by Fast Fusing a piece of Wood Textures DSP to a Powder Pink mat for the card front.
I stamped several orchids with the Climbing Orchid stamp set – these are all two-step images – in Powder Pink on Whisper White. Then I cut them out with their matching die from the bundled Orchid Builder Framelits. I also stamped some little centers in Powder Pink and cut them as well.
I used Pear Pizzazz to stamp a few leaves and cut them with their dies.
With Sponge Daubers, I sponged the leaves with more Pear Pizzazz and each of the flowers and middles with Powder Pink.
I popped each of the flower middles onto a flower with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For the sentiment, which is also from the Climbing Orchid set, I stamped it in Pear Pizzazz on Whisper White. Then I cut it with the larger banner die in the new Lakeside Framelits (available 1 June). I lightly sponged the edges of the banner with Powder Pink.
I layered all my pieces onto the card front, using Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A few Pearl Basic Jewels finished off the card front.
On the inside, I stamped the smaller two-step Orchid in Powder Pink on a Whisper White panel. I also stamped it on a sticky note and fussy cut it to make a mask. I placed that over the stamped flower and added two Pear Pizzazz leaves.
I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another masked-off Climbing Orchid on the front…
…and I added a little more Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Pretty quick and simple to make – and I love how the pink Climbing Orchids look against the Wood Textures DSP, don’t you? I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix
Well, folks – on the road to recovery there are going to be some dips.
Today was kind of a big one.
We went for a walk this morning and things seemed pretty normal…
Then he came in with me and was quite happy to eat some of his food mixed with chicken and rice (he’s no fool) – and even ate his medicine.
And then…he started to wander around. And pace. And stand in corners just staring at…the corner.
Around lunch time I called the vet and he suggested a couple of Benadryl to help him relax. Which worked for a time.
I started to really take note of the fact that my lovely Aussie is….just that. A lovely Aussie. But right now – he’s not “Finn”.
He didn’t clean up the kitty food around the bowls. Didn’t try to lick the dishes in the dishwasher. Didn’t bring me one of his bones to hold for him to gnaw.
See what I mean? Decidedly. Not. Finn.
We went to see the vet in the afternoon – and…the answer is unclear. The brain is a complex thing. We’re not really sure what’s going on in there.
So – my vet is consulting with some veterinary neurologists to see if there’s anything we need to be doing that we’re not.
And we’re trying to be patient. It’s only been 4 days, after all. Surely time will return my Finn to me?
Y’all – send all the positive vibes and prayers you’ve got. He needs them. And so do I.

Your card is so pretty. I continue to pray for Finn and you. I hope the neurologist will discover what is happening. Perhaps with that kick, he has suffered amnesia? No matter what, it is very disconcerting.

Oh Mary, my heart is right there with yours! The prayers have been constant since this happened to Finn.That is just what we do for our children … pray without ceasing! No need for a lot of “foo foo” words,right now. We will just give him to our Lord and pray that His will be done.

Love your card. So sorry to hear about Finn not being himself, it brought tears to my eyes. Breaks my heart knowing an animal is sick. Maybe it’s just a side effect from the surgery and he’ll be out of it by the end of the weekend. Hopefully with time you’ll have your sweet little man back to normal. You and Finn are in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about your Finny boy. It’s so hard when we can’t understand what’s going on. My cat had a stroke last year. It took a few weeks to eat her up and moving, but she is definitely not the same cat. She tries to be “her normal self” but there are just some things she doesn’t do anymore. I pray for the best recovery for Finn and you. (I also had a stroke 6 yrs ago and I know I’m not the same..so imagine an animal..) sending {hugs}

Awe..thank you. Yea..one of her “old ways” was to get on the kitchen counter or table. We would get the air can out..the kind you spray dust with..not the air horn..lol..and once she saw it..she would get down. Now..we’ll the counter is too high for her, but it’s like a victory when she does get up there, even tho it’s only been a few times. So, yay for any victories for her and for Finn. Even the small ones. It’s been a bit over a year for us. She is 11 this month. And your guy is still young.
It says something when we’re HAPPY when they do something that used to make us crazy, doens’t it? We’re odd, we humans! I think his youth and health will stand him in good stead. Thanks, Stephanie! 🙂

OMG – what a worry. I am praying for Finn to be Finn. Maybe that is somewhat normal for a head/brain injuries. Wonder if concussion is possible in a canine? Kinda sounds like what a person goes through with concussion. Please keep us posted, and we all will continue praying and thinking positive thoughts for Finn. I think we all want our Finn back!!! We enjoy his stories and antics so much.
Yes – concussion is a thing -and there’s really no reason to think he would NOT have one – even if mild. So – Mary needs to chill and give him time to get past this and his body do the healing. Thanks very much for the prayers and positive thoughts, Barbara! 🙂

Oh, Mary. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with you and Finn. It is so hard to feel helpless and not know how to fix it. Our fur babies are family! Oh, Mary, I’m reminded when my kids were small–I cried because they couldn’t tell me what was wrong and as they got older I cried because the could! A concussion even in a sweet Finn will take time to heal. He is walking, eating, peeing and pooping. Some of this could be side effects from anesthesia (if he had some) or medication. He may still be a little loopy, just keep a close watch on him don’t hesitate to call your vet.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. btw I am an RN.

So here it is Sat. And I’m justg now reading your Friday post. I am so sorry about Finn and his head…. The brain IS a complicated organ and I am praying time will heal him to closer to the dog he was before all this trauma. There may be some swelling of the brain too. It rather sounds as though he has discomfort. A lot has happened to his body in the last four days – understatement! Thinking of you and all the heartaches and worry this is creating.
