Stampin’ Up! Finn Update

Forgive the multiple posts today – but I thought Finn’s Fans would like an update.

Especially since it’s filled with good news!

My friend and I picked Finn up from the overnight clinic first thing this morning.  Before they brought him out, they gave us the update.

He’d had a good night – including “pulling them around the yard” when they took him outside at midnight.  At first he was stumbly coming out of the pen, but…hey.  He’s a kid and he sleeps real sound.  I stumble around, too!

They also said he was standing up every time someone walked near his kennel.

And – when I asked if he was wiggling anything she said – yes, he’s wiggling everything he’s got to wiggle!

Hallelujah!

Soon, he was there.  And he rounded the corner pulling hard as he could, wiggling everything he had – nearly full body!

After giving me a hug, he turned and put his feet up on the counter to say hello.

Which – in “normal” times, is frowned upon by his mom.

Today? I was thrilled to death!

We headed to the van – all under his own power! – and opened the back hatch.  As I got ready to lift him in, he leapt right up – and kept going over the back seat.

“We ride here, Mom – not in the way-back like we did yesterday”!

So – I got in the back seat with him and he laid down half on my lap all the way to the vet.  Sleeping – and giving me kisses.

I love this silly goofus so much. 🙂

He pulled me into the vet – accepted a cookie (he hadn’t been interested in eating overnight) – and we left him there for a day of observation and recovery.

Tonight – we’ll play it by ear and he’ll either come home or spend the night there (don’t have to go back to the critical care spot).

Tomorrow we’ll discuss fixing the hole in his noggin.

So – a MUCH MUCH better post than this morning, yes?

I appreciate all the e-mails, texts and comments.  And I’ll respond to each and every one when I get a minute.  Have to do the morning chores and start getting my brain out of “crisis” mode and into “normal” mode!

  1. Kate

Good news this morning indeed. 😁

  2. Sandra Warthen

I’m glad Finn is doing OK. I know how much he means to you. I lost my dog in 1982 and my heart still hurts. Oh, bu the way, congrats on the trip to the Greek Isles. I never had any doubt, but it’s nice to have it verified. You’ll have to post LOTS of pics “cause that’s the only way I’m ever going to get there.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much, Sandi – they never really stop making us cry a little, do they? No matter how long they’ve been gone. I’ll take plenty of pics in Alaska AND Greece! 🙂

  3. Yay!! Sounds like great news! Glad that he’s back to his normal self…with the full body wag. 😀

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – I’ve never been so happy to see him wiggling in my whole life! Or his! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  4. Beki Rich

Thank you for the update. Finn is close to my heart because he is so darned cute and you make reading about his life and antics so enjoyable. So happy to hear that things for his future sound positive. Maybe he should play with friends his own size, or be more conscious of the zigging and zagging routine. Love you both.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – his zigging is usually spot on. I’d started to lull myself into believing he’d always avoid a kick. Appears I was very wrong. 🙁 Thanks so much, Bekki – I have faith he’ll be back on track and posting soon! 🙂

  5. Micheline

I’m so glad that Finn is on the road to recovery. As much as I enjoy your cards, I love reading about Finn and his adventures even more. My thoughts and prayers are with your fur baby.

    • stampsnlingers

I know – he’s a pretty popular guy. I wish y’all could meet him in person! Thank you so much, Micheline! 🙂

  6. Karen Ksenakovic

Sooooo happy to hear Finn is ok. I know what it’s like to have an injured or sick pet. They can’t talk to you and tell you what’s bothering them and you just feel helpless. Excellent news Mary.

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – he wasn’t talking or moving or doing much of anything. Horrible! 🙁 So happy he appears to be on the road to recovery! 🙂 Thank you so much, Karen! 🙂

  7. Oh my gosh, Mary! How scary that must have been for you (and for Finn). So glad he is back to normal with no permanent injury. You can breathe now 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

So far so good! Thanks so much, Linda! He should be right as rain in time for our next meeting! 🙂

  8. Elisha

Thanks for the update – I have been fretting all morning! Continued prayers!

Such good news Mary! Thank you for the update!

  13. Karen L.

OMG!! Just read the Finn update……..so glad that it looks like he will have a complete recovery. Those darn zigs & zags!! There is nothing more scary then having a fur-baby sick or injured. He is in our thoughts & prayers!!

    • stampsnlingers

True that, Karen. I’ll be happy to not repeat yesterday any time soon. Thanks so much! 🙂

  14. Cindy Blaine

I am so happy that Finn is doing great this morning! I know how scared you must have been. Praying he will be able to come home to you tonight.

    • stampsnlingers

I truly was terrified – and pretty convinced he was gone forever! Thank you so very much, Cindy!

  15. I’m so glad he’s on the mend! I’ve been a Finn-Fan from the First – an FFFF! I always scroll down to get my ‘Fix’ first before I look at the card! I an only imagine how you felt when you saw him laying there. Continuing prayers for our Finn!

    • stampsnlingers

I’ll never get that image out of my head, that’s for sure! And hope to never ever EVER see it again for real. Thank you so very much!! 🙂

  16. Judy

So happy to ear good news about your beloved dog, Finn. Hope he continues to improve and be happy for the rest of his life! You are such a loving “mom”.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh – thank you, Judy! I appreciate that. Of course, he’s awfully easy to love! 🙂

  17. Barbara Riefner

So happy to hear he is doing well. What a relief that must have been for you. I have been thinking about him all morning, and I am so glad you posted an update. Thanks so much, and will keep praying that he continues to do well. What will they have to do to fix the hole in his head. Does it look like it is hurting him!!! What a wonderful bundle of joy!!!!

    • stampsnlingers

I think the morphine he was getting kept the pain down some – but I’m sure he’s got a heckuva headache! I’m not sure what they’ll do to fix it – stitches for sure. Thanks for caring, Barbara!! 🙂

  18. omgosh.. I am so glad he is okay. What a scarey horrible ordeal. I can well imagine the panic and fear. I am extremely happy that he is okay and doing much better. I will keep well wishing thoughts heading your way for a total and quick recovery!..<3

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – it was pretty much awful, Tam! Thank you so much!! 🙂

  19. Pat

I’m so glad things are looking up for sweet Finn and his mama!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Pat, I think we’re getting to the other side of it! 🙂

  20. Paula Poindexter

Oh my goodness gracious! How frightful for you. And painful for Finn too. And your horses probably feel guilty.
Bet Finn is much more aware of hoofs from now on.

So glad he seems to be doing better.
Try to relax. Give him an extra love rub me please.

    • stampsnlingers

The ponies are definitely looking for him! I HOPE he’s more aware of the hooves, but…I’m not holding my breath! Not sure he’s putting it all together in his puppy brain. I’ll definitely love on him for you when he comes home tomorrow! Thanks so much, Paula. 🙂

  21. Susan K

So glad to hear Finn–and you–are doing better! My stomach dropped when I read the post and knowing how much I’m relieved, I can only imagine yours. Thanks for keeping us updated. Prayers still coming your way.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Susan – prayer are ALWAYS good and very welcome! And yes – I was so relieved to see him this morning – can hardly even tell you! 🙂

  22. that is such good news. Bet he is real happy to be back in his familiar surrounds.
    Love rosalie.

    • stampsnlingers
