Stampin’ Up! Magical Day Unicorn in Pink

Happy Haaawwwmp Day, my peeps!  How goes your week?

I made a fun little card today that could be used for a kid’s birthday or a friend’s big day!  It uses the Magical Day bundle and some pretty Myths & Magic Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the Sketch Saturday challenge!

My girly-girl color scheme is thanks to The Paper Players!

And finally, the magical them is from…Just Us Girls!

I started with a pink paper from the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP for the card front.

My art layers start with a scalloped circle of Irridescent Myths & Magic 6″x 6″ Glimmer Paper, then a Whisper White circle and finally a Powder Pink circle – all cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  I ran the Powder Pink layer thru the Seaside TIEF.  When I adhered all the layers together with Liquid Glue, I put the embossed circle DE-bossed side up.  Wanted it to look more like air than water!

I adhered the layered circles to the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP panel with the side sort of hanging off the edge.  Then I used my Paper Snips to trim the excess and matted the panel on Powder Pink.

I cut some Vellum card stock clouds with the die from the Rainbow Builder Framelits and adhered them to the circle with Liquid Glue – just where I knew the unicorn would cover it up.

On a piece of scrap Whisper White, I stamped the Magical Day unicorn in Versamark, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.  Then I cut it with the matching die from the bundled Magical Mates Framelits.  While I was at it, I cut some stars from more of the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper.

I colored the unicorn mane with my Powder Pink and Melon Mambo Markers and her body with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

I stamped the sentiment in Versamark on Powder Pink and heat embossed it in Silver, then cut it with the banner die from the Magical Mates.  I stamped it again in Melon Mambo and fussy cut just the small banner (“You are”).  Then I popped that on top of the larger banner with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I edged the banner with my Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker and then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue and a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Then I adhered the unicorn over it with Liquid Glue.  I adhered the Glimmer stars here and there with dabs of Liquid Glue and added a few Clear Faceted Gems.  Finally, I tied a double bow from Silver Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Magical Day in Melon Mambo on a Whisper White panel.  Around it, I adhered a few more Glimmer Stars, then I stamped the stars image from the stamp set in Powder Pink.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Melon Mambo card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Magical Day stars in Powder Pink across the front…

…and I gave the envelope flap some more of the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP.

Et Voila!  I think this Magical Day bundle, and all the pieces in the Myths & Magic Suite, are so cute.  And I don’t think they’re only appropriate for kids, do you?!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

So – the picture I have for you today highlights two things.

First – that my kitchen windows are dirty.

Okay – all my windows are dirty.

Don’t judge.

The second thing that it shows is that my goofy dog has reached new heights of goof-ball-iosity.

Behold.

Yep.  Just chillin’ on the driveway holdin’ my collar.  Waitin’ for someone to come out.

  1. I think I’ve figured Finn out. That collar is like his pacifier and he likes to be babied…maybe? The pinks have the corner on mythical today. Oh, and whose windows aren’t dirty these days!

  2. What a goofus! And, my windows are dirty too. Don’t judge.
Adorable card. What little girl (or big girl) wouldn’t love this? Love the pinks and the vellum clouds. I think vellum is under-used!

  3. Kate hury

Somebody I know would have loved this card on her birthday!
Chillin’ in the sunshine not so goofy, but the collar holdin? Gotta give you that! Clara allowed as how it must be an Aussie thing ’cause no hound she ever knew has done it.

  4. Cute card! Love your pink sparkly unicorn, awesome take on all 3 challenges! 🙂 Finn gets no attention, I’m sure of that…he just has to sit outside all day pulling himself around by his collar so that he can feel like someone loves him. Ha! He knows exactly how to get you to come out and play. 😉

    • I snorted coffee this morning – “pulling himself around my his collar so that he can feel like someone loves him!” OMG! I’m still chuckling! Thanks, Amy – for the nice words and the laugh! 🙂

  5. You’ve created a lovely background for your oh-so-cute unicorn! Mythical, magical and marvelous in every way! I’m thrilled you shared this smile-making, day-brightening work of art in the JUGS gallery!
Your ‘come and take me for a walk’ dog, chillin’ on the driveway, is toooooo adorable! Dirty windows, you say? Didn’t notice; mine are same *grin*
