Stampin’ Up! Country Livin’ for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! It’s color week and we’ve got the full complement of hoppers today!  Do be sure to check out all their projects when you’re done here, won’t you?

Our color scheme sent me in the direction of the Coffee Break DSP – and I decided to use a new-to-me stamp set called Country Livin’.  I added a sentiment from…well, it’s a surprise.  Take a look-see:

Our colors?

And I borrowed a layout from this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge.

I started with a wood-grain looking piece of paper from the Coffee Break DSP and matted it on Pool Party for the card front.  I added a Delicate White Doily with a little bit of Liquid Glue.

With the Petals & More Thinlits, I cut a sprig of leaves from Garden Green and a strip of the lattice in Pool Party.  That one I snipped in half length wise – and set it aside for the moment – and I snipped apart the Garden Green sprig.  I also punched a few Vellum card stock leaves with my Leaf Punch.

I embossed a strip of Soft Suede card stock in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF.  With Liquid Glue, I adhered the two cut-down pieces of lattice to the back of the embossed strip – just barely peeking out the bottom.   Then I adhered it all to the card front with more Liquid Glue.

I layered the various leaves with Liquid Glue.  Using Glue Dots, I adhered a length of Garden Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon – making some loopy folds.

For the art, I stamped the boots image from Country Livin’ in Soft Suede on a piece of Whisper White and cut it with a Stitched Shapes Framelits square.  I colored the boots with my Blender Pen, picking up ink from the lid of my Soft Suede ink pad.  Then I matted it on a scalloped square Pool Party mat, cut with my Layering Squares Framelits.

I pulled out the Lots of Happy stamp set from my Lots of Happy Project Kit and stamped the sentiment on Whisper White in Soft Suede.  I covered up all but “I’m always” and stamped just those words in Soft Suede on the art square.  I cut the other three words out with my Paper Snips.  I edged all the words with my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker and colored the letters of the larger words with my Garden Green Marker.  Then I popped those on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered “for” with Liquid Glue.

I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the art square and used them to wind Gold Metallic Thread in multiple loops, then popped it onto the card front.  I finished up with some Gold Metallic Enamel shapes and a heart Corrugated Element nestled into the collage.

On the inside, I inked the boots again in Soft Suede, stamped it off twice and then stamped it in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Over that, in Garden Green, I stamped a sweet little sentiment from the Baby Bear stamp set!  Then I added a little gold heart Metallic Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Pool Party mat and into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Country Livin’ pair of boots on the front…

…and some more of the Coffee Break DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is way more my usual kind of card, huh?  I love this little image set – Country Livin’ (from the Annual Catalog) – is great for all sorts of not-too-froofy cards.  But, I love it paired with the doily and the leaves.  Sort of cowgirl-chic, huh?  Don’t be afraid to look thru your stamp sets for the exactly-right sentiment!  Lots of Happy is a great set – with the added bonus that it came in an all-inclusive kit!  You need to be grabbing this one up – it’s in the Occasions catalog and…may well be gone when the catty goes!  Hope you like!

    • I SO want to say yes. “Yes, Julie – cuz that made it look a little more rustic to me.” Truth? Nope – just realized it after it was WAAAY too late to recover! 🙁 Thanks much, this card feels way better to me! 🙂
