Stampin’ Up! Hello Friend!

Well, look-ee look-ee!  Guess what day it is again!?  Yep – it’s HAWWWWMP Day, y’all!  It’s downhill from here to the weekend.

My card today is another departure from my norm.  In that it uses brighter colors and more…abstractedness…than usual.  I pulled out the pretty Hello Friend stamp set (the coordinating stamp set for the Hello Friend Heat Embossing Project Kit!) and tried a new coloring technique.  Take a look-see:

There’s a reason for the colors – I was playing along with the TGIF Color Challenge this week!

I started with some watercolor paper – it’s Canson 90lb Cold-Pressed paper – and then I colored it by spritzing.  I used two Stampin’ Spritzers with a little water in each, and added some drops of Emerald Envy Ink Refill to one, and Lemon Lime Twist to the other.  I don’t really know how many drops – but…here’s a picture.  Relatively dark! 🙂

So, I spritzed a little here and I spritzed a little there in the two colors – concentrating on the bottom right hand corner.  I also did a second piece – that would eventually be the source of paper for my sentiment.

Then I mostly let it dry naturally, although I did use my Heat Tool on the lower setting towards the end!

Once it was totally dry (and I mean totally!), I rubbed it with my Embossing Buddy and then stamped it in Versamark with the wreath image from the Hello Friend stamp set.  I sprinkled that with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.

On the second piece of watercolor paper that I’d colored, I stamped the Hello Friend sentiment in Emerald Green.  I punched it out with my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch (loves me some punches, y’all!).  I used the new 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch to cut a Gold Foil mat and the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch to cut an Emerald Envy mat.

I adhered the sentiment to the Gold Foil mat with Liquid Glue and then popped it onto the Emerald Envy mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut a piece of Lemon Lime Twist 3/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon and then cut it in half length-wise.  That let me fray the ribbon and pull off a whole bunch of strands. I learned that little trick from Andrea Tracy-Tucker!  I added Dimensionals to the back of my sentiment and used them to wind a veritable plethora of those strands behind it.  Then I added it to the card front.

I did a little embellishing with Lemon Lime Twist Tutti Frutti Adhesive-Backed sequins (with Rhinestone Basic Jewels on them), some gold Metallic Enamel Shapes and a couple three Touches of Nature Elements leaves.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I spritzed another piece of watercolor paper in Emerald Envy and Lemon Lime Twist.  When dry, I added a second sweet sentiment from the Hello Friend stamp set in Emerald Envy, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Then I added a single gold heart Metallic Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Emerald Envy mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more spritzing on the front…

…and I heat embossed the wreath in Gold on the back of the envelope.

Et Voila!  I need to do some more practice with the spritzing technique, no doubt.  But – I love this pretty Hello Friend stamp set and I think the bright colors helped to make for a cheery, Spring-y card!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Rained like a booger on Tuesday – so of course, mud is de rigeur!

My Man is not too persnickety about getting muddy – I’ve seen him zoom puddles, cuz it’s fun!

I took the golf cart up to put a few packages in the mail while it was still raining, and Finn-ster came along (on paw).

On the way back, though, he opted to ride.  And he likes to lean out off the passenger side so he can see good.  In case a squirrel needs chased or something!

Think we need mud flaps on the golf cart?

Maybe?!?

  1. What an awesome card Mary! Love the collage look and the colors are perfect. That picture of Finn made me laugh right out loud!! Hahahaha, yep, typical kid! 🙂

  2. Oh, my…this is soooooo not you! BUT I LOVE the new you!! That is spectacular. It’s like POW right in the kisser, but in a nice way 🙂 Looks like Finn is ready for a real bath after a mud bath….those eyes!

  3. Cool card. Your style keeps evolving. Or not. Sometimes we just like to try something new and different, then, we continue on our previous style path. Either is ok. I like this card, but it is not my fave of ones you have done. Creative though.
Me? I don’t have a style. Yet. Maybe I never will.

  4. Kate

    To each his own…😃
Finn is the sweetest thing. Mud ‘n all.
I am having BREWED COFFEE. WooHoo!!!

  5. Pat Christ

Fun card, love that spritzing! Dogs and their mud-lovin ways! We’ve had rain, snow and sleet. Now mud. Bella rolled in it yesterday. 🙄 First time she’s done that and hopefully the last.

  6. Susan K

It’s a different feel but still layered. I think I like it but probably won’t try CASing it. 😉 Finn could look worse–it was a lot of rain!
