Stampin’ Up! Myths and a Magical Day for the Stamp Ink Paper #140!

Hey y’all – happy Tuesday!  It’s time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge – and this week…we’re talking Four Legged Friends!

Many – many! – years ago, I read a series of books by Anne McCaffrey – it was the Dragonriders of Pern series.  Do you know it?  It’s kind of a cool sci-fi (yep, I’m a nerd) series wherein the “cool” folk ride dragons.

Which…you might have figured from the title.  Duh, Mary!

Anyway – I always thought it would be pretty cool to have a dragon – specifically a flying dragon – upon which I could ride.

Which is why it seems perfectly reasonable that my four-legged friend today would hail from the Magical Day stamp set and the bundled Magical Mates Framelits.  Take a look-see:

In addition to the theme challenge from Stamp Ink Paper…

…I also borrowed some layout inspiration from the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch to help me out!

I started with a Whisper White panel and embossed it in the Scattered Sequins Dynamic TIEF, then I wrapped a piece of the pretty Myths & Magic Specialty Washi Tape around it and matted it on a panel of Dapper Denim.

I stamped my dragon in Dapper Denim on Whisper White and cut it out with the matching die in the Magical Mates Framelits.  I colored him in Dapper Denim (using my Blender Pen and picking ink up from the lid of the pad) and in Pool Party and Tranquil Tide using Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I brushed him with my Clear Wink of Stella.

I cut a piece of the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP with a square Stitched Shapes Framelits die.  I wrapped more of the Myths & Magic Specialty Washi Tape around the square and adhered it with Fast Fuse to the card front.

I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the dragon and used them to wind some Silver Metallic Thread round and round in loops then popped the dragon onto the square.

For the sentiment, I masked off the word “Magical” with scotch tape and stamped “Hope Your Day is” on a piece of Whisper White in Dapper Denim.  I added some dot-dot-dot’s with my Dapper Denim Stampin’ Write Marker and then I fussy cut the sentiment banner.  It’s edged with my Tranquil Tide Marker and then popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Dapper Denim Enamel Glitter Dots, silver hearts and stars Metallic Enamel Shapes and a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done!

On the inside, I made a sentiment banner by heat embossing the word “Magical” in Silver on a piece of Dapper Denim and then cutting it with the banner die in the Magical Mates Framelits.  I stamped just the top part of the dragon in Dapper Denim on a Whisper White panel and colored him just like the front.  I wrapped more of the Myths & Magic Washi tape around the panel, then I adhered the banner over all of it with Liquid Glue.  A couple more silver star Metallic Enamel Shapes finished it off.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Dapper Denim mat and into my Tranquil Tide card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whsioer White Medium Envelope got another Magical Day dragon on the front…

…and more Myths & Magic Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  My very own dragon from Pern – ready to take me soaring – thanks to the so-fun Magical Day stamp set and matching Magical Mates framelits!  This is such a cool set – even for we not-kids.  It could be a birthday card, or….whatever-day-needs-celebrating-card!  Hope you like!
