Stampin’ Up! Sweet Cake in Springtime for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! It’s sketch week and we’ve got the full complement of hoppers – plus, help me welcome Julie Johnston to the line-up!!  Do be sure to check out all their projects when you’re done here, won’t you?

I did another fussy-cut with the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP.

I’m sorry.

I can’t help it very much.  The flowers are really pretty darned easy to cut and…I love how they look “arranged” on a card.

I combined my fussy cut flowers with some masked images and sentiments from the Cake Soiree stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Here’s the sketch we all played with today:

I also took inspiration from the Just Us Girls Photo Week.

And – as you’ll see on the inside and the envelope, I also played along with the Masking Technique Time challenge from TGIF.

I started with a Whisper White panel that I embossed in the Layered Leaves Dynamic TIEF and matted on Old Olive for the card front.  Then I cut a piece of the pretty paper from the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP and bannerized it with my Banner Triple Punch.  That’s adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment panel, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp a pretty sentiment from the Cake Soiree stamp set in Rich Razzleberry.  Then I matted it on Old Olive and adhered it over the banner with Liquid Glue.

I colored several beautiful roses on a piece of the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP (Get this paper free for the rest of the month with a $50 purchase!).  I used my Light and Dark Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.  Once I had the “bouquet” all colored up, I fussy cut them.

I used my Leaf Punch to cut some leaves from the same DSP I’d used for the banner.  And I gathered up some of the leftover vellum leaves from the Wildflower Wishes Paper Pumpkin kit (PP subscribers can get refills for this pretty kit right now.  Just sayin’!!).

I stuck a few Glue Dots onto the sentiment panel and used them to wind some big loops of Silver Metallic Thread.  Then I started layering up leaves and flowers with Liquid Glue.  The large “top” yellow rose is popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stuck a Rhinestone Basic Jewel on and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used several flower and leaf images from the Cake Soiree stamp set.  I made masks from sticky notes of two of the flowers.  Then I stamped them in the corner of a Whisper White panel.  I stamped the large flower once in Rich Razzleberry, covered it with a mask, and stamped the second flower.  Then I covered that one and stamped the Daffodil Delight flowers.  I covered those with their masks and stamped leaves.  The berry-looking leaves are stamped-off-once Old Olive and the others are full strength.  Finally – I colored the flowers with my Stampin’ Blends.

I masked off and inked just part of the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry (I didn’t need the “Happy Birthday”) and used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp it onto the panel.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Cake Soiree flowers on the front…

…and I added some more of the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I can’t tell you how much I love this Springtime Foils Specialty DSP, y’all!  And – it’s really quite perfect for fussy cutting.  I urge you to try it – you’ll like it!  Cake Soiree – with it’s pretty sentiments and floral images is the perfect foil to the paper.  See what I did there? 😉  Hope you like!
