Stampin’ Up! Lots of Springtime Petals Wreath

Well, hidey-ho, my peeps!!  Friday arrived quickly, thanks to the miracle of a Monday holiday!  Gotta love it!

I found out yesterday evening that a friend of mine had been in the hospital the past couple of days – with a flu-like illness (but not “the flu”!).  Fortunately, she (and her baby! 🙂 ) are fine and have been sent home.  But, since I’m not there to administer a hug in person, I thought I’d send her one in paper-and-ink!

So, I pulled together some of my favorite Springtime Foils Specialty DSP, a few leaves from Petals & More, and a couple of sweet sentiments from the Hanging Garden and Lots of Love stamp sets.  Take a look-see:

The inspiration for this card came from the photo in the Fusion challenge this week.

I started with some of the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP and colored several roses and leaves with my Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends.  Then I fussy cut them all.

I pulled out my Petals & More Thinlits and cut some flowers and leaves from Whisper White and Lemon Lime Twist card stock.

To create the wreath, I cut two circle shapes from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits – one each in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede card stock.

To build the card, I embossed a panel of Basic Gray card stock in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF and Fast Fuse’d it to a Lemon Lime Twist mat.  The next layer is a Lots of Labels die cut (it’s the next-to-largest die in the set), also cut from Basic Gray and embossed in Pinewood Planks.  I sponged the edges with Basic Gray Archival Ink to add a little depth.  Then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I laid out my wreath and decorations and took a picture of it with my phone. This is a great trick when you’re trying to create an arrangement and finally get it just right!  🙂

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two wreath shapes, then continued to build the arrangement with the Glue.  The yellow flower is popped up with Dimensionals.

Once the wreath was built, I stamped a sentiment from the Hanging Garden stamp set in Calypso Coral on Whisper White and cut it out with the banner die in Petals & More.  I edged it with my Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker and used Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to nestle it into the flowers.

I added some Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes to the flowers and leaves and a few Lemon Lime Twist Tutti-Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a sweet (and straight-up perfect, huh?!?) sentiment from the Lots of Love stamp set in Calypso Coral to a Whisper White panel.  I added a couple of Hanging Garden butterflies in Daffodil Delight.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Lemon Lime Twist mat and into my Basic Gray card base, adhered the card front with Fast Fuse, and the card was done.

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added a flutter of Hanging Garden butterflies in Daffodil Delight…

…and added a couple more to the envelope flap.  The flower you see in the picture is a leftover sticker from the February Paper Pumpkin kit (I shared it on Wednesday – you can check it out right here) – I’ll use it as a little flap-sticker after I put the card inside!

Et Voila!  I hope this will bring her a smile and help her to feel 100% right quick!  Don’t be afraid to look around thru your stash for the perfect sentiment(s), y’all!  Mix and match and get the card just how you want it – in this case Hanging Garden and the Lots of Love sets let me say exactly what I wanted to say.  And the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP (one of the new Sale-A-Bration goodies – available free with a $50 purchase) provides the perfect cheery backdrop!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

The warm days are tough on the Man.  He’s so furry….he gets too hot in a heartbeat!

So – ball-chasing games are short-lived! 🙂

Naps, on the other hand, are not.

And – they don’t always make sense to me.

He’s got a bed – in front of a fan.

We’ve got carpet.

He could even lay in front of my chair and sleep with his head on my foot (which he’s done a lot!).

But this?

We may never know.

  1. What a lovely card and I am sure your friend will enjoy it!

  2. Absolutely stunning Mary! The colors and the layering are just perfect, love all of those die cuts! As for Finn…well, when a guy gets tired, he gets tired. And he must lay down for a snooze no matter where is…even if it means that his head is in the doorway and the rest of him is on the hard floor!

  3. Mary, He is the SENTRY. Can’t guard the place from a cushy spot in front of the chair!
What a stunningly beautiful card! Wow! ‘Nuff said.

  4. Let me be right up front with you…it’s a winner! It fits the challenge perfectly, which again is my opinion! Too bad I’m not a judge in the Fusion challenge 🙂 Our cat is just like Finn. She drapes her head over the most uncomfortable places like the edge of a cardboard box or the rung of a chair. No, we will never know!

  5. Kate

Beautiful hug bouquet for your friend! Hope she and wee one soon hale and hearty.
I think a breath of outside might seep o’er the sill under the Finn’s schnoozle. Cosy as it is, that would NOT be the case from your foot. 😉

  6. Ellie Peckler

Mary, I like the way you combined so many elements to make this lovely card for your friend. I haven’t used my swirly scribble thinlits for a while but am inspired to again. Have a great weekend! – Ellie

  7. Kristi

So pretty Mary, that paper just makes those flowers beautiful and your coloring it great!

  8. Great card. Thanks for the nudge to usr the Swirly “wreath”. Poor fellow he’s been unloved for some time! I’ll fix that. Happy Friday.

    • Yes – it’s easy to forget the super products in the Annual catalog with all the great Occasions and SAB goodies to play with! Thanks much, Sharon! 🙂

  9. BarbGhig

Gorgeous wreath and fabulous take on the challenge, Mary! Your color palette is so pretty and I love how you used your foils! I’m sure your friend is going to love it, too!
Thanks so much for playing along with us this week at Fusion!

  10. Susan K

What a most beautiful card! Those colors and the layering are striking and perfect for the challenge. I agree with Karen–this will be a winner…for the challenge and with your friend. Finn says the hardwoods are cooler than carpet. He’s a Man–the “pillow” is not too hard for him!

    • I know. I’m sure I’m insulting his Man-hood by even suggesting that he’s goofy for using a hard metal rail as a pillow. Bad Mom!! 😉 Thanks very much, Susan! 🙂

  11. Karren Olaveson

Hi Mary, Just a wowzer of a card. So beautiful!!! I know your friend will love it and feel your love.
Cute little Finn!!! Take good care.
    Best wishes,
    Karren

  12. Total Gorgeousness! I could stare at this beautiful card for days !
