Stampin’ Up! Picture Perfect Springtime Birthday

Happy Monday, y’all!  And I can say that with a totally straight face – no work means Happy Monday! 🙂

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video – thanks for spending part of your long-weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see how to make this card, here’s the instant-ish replay on YouTube:

I used the new Sale-A-Bration Springtime Foils Specialty DSP (FREE – and available now with a $50 purchase!) and the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set – and a little surprise from the February Paper Pumpkin! – to make today’s birthday card.  Take a look-see:

This one used the sketch from the MFT Wednesday Card Challenge for the layout.

The color scheme is courtesy of the Color Throwdown.

Finally, several elements come as a result of this week’s Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.  I went right across the bottom row!

I started by coloring the Springtime Foils Specialty DSP panel with my Light Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blend and the Dark and Light Old Olive Blends.  I colored a few petals a couple of times to create the darker shading – you can see how on the video!

Once all the flowers and leaves were colored, I swiped my Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad across the panel over and over until it was all colored black.  Then I wiped it down with a paper towel.

I matted it on an Old Olive panel with Fast Fuse for the card front.

I embossed a strip of Vellum card stock in the Layered Leaves Dynamic TIEF and, using my Fine Tip Glue Pen, adhered it to the card front.  Across it, I wrapped a length of Lemon Lime Twist 3/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon, securing it in the back with Fast Fust.

I wound a few loops of Copper Metallic Thread and stuck them to the card front with a Glue Dot.

With my Leaf Punch, I punched two Vellum leaves and one from Copper Foil, then adhered them over the looped Metallic Thread with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I called on the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set and stamped it in Basic Gray Archival Ink on a piece of Whisper White.  I cut it with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit then popped it on with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I finished up the card front with an Old Olive heart Enamel Shape and a faux bow with more of the Lemon Lime Twist 3/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon!

On the inside, I embossed just the bottom inch or so of a Whisper White panel in the Layered Leaves Dynamic TIEF.  I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Old Olive mat, then wrapped more of the Lemon Lime Twist 3/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with Fast Fuse.

I added another Old Olive heart Enamel Shape, Fast Fuse’d the panel into my Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped a pretty little flower from the February Paper Pumpkin kit in Basic Gray Archival Ink and colored it with my Light Rich Razzlenerry, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends…

…and I added more of the colored Springtime Foils Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Yet more ways to use this gorgeous Springtime Foils Specialty DSP!  Such versatility – and it’s FREE!!!  Hello?!?  Add in a beautiful sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday and you’ve got a wonderful and elegant birthday card.  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn Fan Fix

On Sunday, we did a little more gardening!  Feels so spring-y outside that gardening is just the thing to do!

Finn’s help is more a matter of providing morale support.

And occasionally retrieving a stick or branch and carrying it away for me!

Today, though, he was simply observing the land.

Keeping watch for any…aliens.

Usually, there aren’t any.

Today?

Oh yea.

A whole slew of them!  With their purring alien-squalling….

Those aren’t geese, folks!!  Nope.  Them’s aliens!

Or…maybe herons.  Or possibly Cranes.

Finn’s money’s on aliens.  They just don’t sound like they’s from around here!

  1. This is one beauty of a card. When I get my paper this week or next, I will be CASEing! Sorry I missed you last night. We had dinner company for the Daytona 500 and then a fire after dinner. I agree with Finn…they are aliens cuz ducks and geese usually fly in V formation and that looks more like a “y”.

    • They sure could be! When you hear their calls it gets your attention!! 🙂 Sounds like you guys had a great evening! Thanks so much, Karen – and enjoy the paper!! 🙂

  2. Such a beautiful card Mary! Thanks for sharing the video for how you created it! Cute picture of the little man keeping an eye on things for you. 😉

  3. Kate

Truly elegant card as you said.
Whatever their stripe or formation, seems early to be headed north. If they make it even this far, they’s gonna have to de-ice. And those watering holes they are used to will exact a hard landing.

  4. Susan K

I would never have thought that black ink would wipe off like that! Interesting. Will all colors wipe off or just momento? Good to have a guard dog that watches for aliens as well as birds! You should feel well-protected.

    • Yep – those alien boogers (who – apparently, according to film lore – will almost to a man (alien?) – want to eat us and dominate the world) will not be sneaking up on us!! I’ve also done it with Crumb Cake! So – it’s a pretty versatile technique with this paper! Thanks much, Susan! 🙂

  6. Kathy L

This was a big surprise, a happy one, for sure. I never would have expected to see the foil dsp look like that. What a lovely card.

  7. What a fantastic card, Mary. Your video is also wonderful….thanks for the tutorial and for joining us at the TTTC this week.

  8. Lynn Klitzke

Great card Mary. I noticed the measurement for the embossed vellum should be 3 3/4″ instead of just 3/4″. P.S., love the Finn lookout. ☺

  9. Wow, Mary, what a fabulous card! I love this technique – I’ve never seen it before and am so thankful you made a video! Thank you for sharing your talent with us this week at Tic Tac Toe Challenge!

    • Thanks so much, Peggy! I appreciate the fun challenges – and that you take the time to come by and leave a comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂

  10. Mary, So Beautiful! So happy you joined us this week over at Tic Tac Toe challenge.
