Stampin’ Up! Magical Day Suite Sneak Peek for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  It’s sketch week in the week before Christmas – so…what will we see today?? You’ll have to check out all the ladies’ projects when you get done here – and see for yourself!

Here’s our sketch…

I decided to not go with a Christmas card, cuz I’ve been wanting to play with the fun and pretty goodies in the Magical Day suite – which you’ll be able to get on 3 Jan in the Occasions Catalog!  Take a look-see:

I used a couple of pieces of paper from the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP – this paper is gorgeous!  All matte graphics on one side and shiny/glittery magical designs on the other!

I started with a matte Dapper Denim design, cut it to the size of the front of my card base and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

The next layer is Whisper White, that I embossed in the Seaside TIEF and matted on Pool Party card stock.

Using the next-to-largest die in the Lot of Labels Framelits, I cut a piece of turquoise Glimmer Paper from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper pack (you’ll get Iridescent, turquoise and light green in the pack!).  Once I’d cut it with the die, I cut it in half and adhered it with Liquid Glue to the embossed Whisper White panel (that’s a trick to get a longer die cut!).

Next up?  Another piece of the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP – one that looks suspiciously like bubbly water! – matted on Pool Party and popped onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now – if you saw my post yesterday, you may recognize the Lemon Lime Twist leaves layer!  Yep – that’s from the December Flora and Flutter Paper Pumpkin kit!  I cut it down a little and used Liquid Glue around the edges to adhere it over the DSP.

I heat embossed three little mermaids from the Magical Day stamp set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on some scrap Whisper White.  They have a perfectly matching die in the Magical Mates Framelits and I cut them all out lickety-split.

I used Stampin’ Blends in Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Bronze and Ivory to color the little ladies.  A brush with my Clear Wink of Stella gave them a fishy shine!

They’re all adhered with Liquid Glue, nestled in amongst the leaves.

My sentiment, from the All Things Thanks stamp set, is stamped in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White and cut with the new Tailored Tag Punch (avail 3 Jan!), then popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I finished the card front off with some of the new Tutti-Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins and tiny Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes (both avail on 3 Jan)!

I adhered more of the Dapper Denim paper from Myths & Magic Specialty DSP to the inside of my Basic Black card base.  With my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped the sentiment from Magical Day in Bermuda Bay in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Across the bottom, in Lemon Lime Twist, I stamped the leaves from the Flora and Flutter Paper Pumpkin kit, stamping them a couple of times without re-inking.  Then I added a few dots with my Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker and a couple of cute Bermuda Bay seahorses.

I added a few clear round shapes from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes, Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Pool Party mat and then into the card base.  And that was it for the card!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some more of the Lemon Lime Twist leaves and Magical Day Bermuda Bay seahorses across the front…

…and some of the watery paper from Myths & Magic on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  How cute is this Magical Day stamp set and the perfectly matching dies in the Magical Mates Framelits??  It’s also got unicorns, brave knights and crafty wizards on top of the mermaids!!  Don’t think it’s only going to be good for kids’ cards – it’s perfect for whimsical and fun cards for anyone! Well – I think so!  Hope you like!

  1. Your little mermaids are just too cute! Love the use of the die cut from your Paper Pumpkin kit…perfect “seaweed” for your underwater scene. Great card! 🙂

  2. Jari Francis

So whimsical and fun, love those cute mermaids! Great layering of super fun details, too!

  3. Cute and colorful. I guess I better get my Occasions catalog out again as I missed that punch somehow! I NEED it, of course!!

  4. Gorgeous card! Love the little mermaids. Still debating on that set. Overlooked the papers for it too. My powers of observation are not very keen it seems.

    • I pretty much had to have it even though I don’t have kids! Unicorns!! And the paper – it’s hard to tell in the catalog how beautiful it is! Thanks much, Julie!

  5. Kate

Good save on a somewhat unartful sketch to work from.
Snow here! Cold and beautiful. 🙂

  6. So fun and cheerful. Your mermaids are adorable!! Great card!
