Stampin’ Up! Birds, Blooms and a Petal Palette Sneak Peek!

Well.  It’s happened.  Monday.

That’s all I’m going to say on that front, okay?

We had a great weekend, Finn and I, including a wonderful time at Amy’s Krew meeting yesterday!  He had a great time entertaining all the ladies and supervising our card making!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video – I thank you for spending part of your Sunday with me!  If not, but would like to watch the replay, check it out on YouTube right here.

So – here’s a way to know that you’ve become a serious card maker.  You “see” cards and ideas everywhere.  Backgrounds in tile and carpet.  Sentiments on church signs.  Color combinations in gardens.  Card fronts in catalogs.  Case in point – the other day I was thumbing thru my Coldwater Creek catalog.

Looking for clothes to add to my list for the “end” of my diet.  And saw…

My new decorating philosophy is “first add no new dust-catchers” – so, I didn’t see something to hang on the wall.  I saw a card front!  I saw the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF, some Wood Tectures DSP, the Birds & Blooms Thinlits, and…the new only-available-to-demonstrators Petal Palette stamp set and matching Petals & More Thinlits.  So I got busy and came up with this.  Take a look-see:

What do you think?

This one played along with a couple of challenges – the first is an Anything Goes from the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

And the second, from the Paper Craft Crew  – rather loosely! – helped me with the layout!

I began by embossing a panel of Whisper White in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF – it’s a little smaller than the card front which is a piece of Wood Textures DSP.

Using the  wonderful leaves image in the 2018 Occasions Catalog stamp set called Petal Palette (we got to see this one early – just one of the many perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator!), I stamped them a few times in Craft Whisper White Ink.  And to add even more texture, once the ink was dry (I might have helped it along with my Heat Tool!) I embossed the panel in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF.

Then I cut the bird image with the die from the Birds & Blooms Thinlits (Annual Catalog).

I quite generously applied Stampin’ Dimensionals – both regular and Mini – behind the now embossed and bird-die-cut Wood Textures panel and popped it over my Cable Knit embossed Whisper White Panel.  Then I Fast Fuse’d it to a Cherry Cobbler mat.

For my decorations, I cut some Pretty Pines Thinlits pine boughs from a little Old Olive and Black plaid paper from the Merry Little Christmas DSP and a couple of Cherry Cobbler berries.  The wonderful, beautiful, exquisite….add in any superlatives you’d like here, there can’t be too many!…Whisper White leafy branches are cut with the Petals & More Thinlits.  Oh my gosh, you guys…these are just…the best!

I adhered my decorations to the card front with Liquid Glue.

My sentiment is from the soon-to-retire Musical Season stamp set.  I used my Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Markers to color just the words and the little dots and stamped it on a Whisper White strip.  I cut a banner in one end and edged it with the Cherry Cobbler Maker.  Then I popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I made a Billie Moan bow from Linen Thread and added it with a Glue Dot.

To finish it off, I colored some Pearl Basic Jewels with the Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend – works perfectly, y’all! – and added them here and there on the card front and sentiment banner.

On the inside, I wanted to recreate the woodsy leaves that I’d stamped on the front.  But…I also wanted room and a light color to write a greeting on.

What to do? What to do?

Well….I used the Kissing Technique.  Here’s how it goes:

  • Lay your Hardwood Background Stamp on your work surface, rubber side up.
  • Ink it with Soft Suede Ink.
  • Use the petal stamp from the Petal Palette stamp set (when you can get it in January!) and ink it with Crumb Cake ink.
  • “Stamp” the leaves on the Hardwood stamp- twice – turning it a little between stamps.
  • Stamp the image on a Whisper White panel.
  • Repeat

And here’s what you’ll get:

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Petal Palette leaves on the front…

…and a bit more Wood Textures DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  What do you think?  Not identical, but…I was tickled with how it turned out!  I do believe this Petal Palette bundle (with the Petals & More Thinlits is going to be a heavy heavy favorite when the 2018 Occasions Catalog hits the streets, don’t you!?!  Hope you like!

CHANGE IN STAMPARATUS RESERVATION WINDOWS!!

YOU NEED TO READ THIS MESSAGE FROM STAMPIN’ UP!

The results are in! The first Stamparatus reservation window reached its maximum number of reservations in just 15 minutes, which provided us with some very important information: You LOVE this new stamping tool! We couldn’t be more thrilled; in fact, your response was so amazing that we’ve decided to make some important adjustments to the reservation process.
As was previously announced, the second reservation window will remain open from December 5–30; however, during this reservation period we will take as many orders as we receive (yay!) and not close the window until December 30. So whether the total number of reservations is 100 or 100,000, the window will stay open!
Please note the following changes:
  • Beginning March 19, we will ship Stamparatuses in the order the reservations were received (first in, first out) and continue through the next few months and beyond as product arrives in our warehouse. Because shipment dates are based on manufacturing lead times, not all of the reservations made during the December 5–30 window will ship on March 19 (as was previously announced).
  • In order to accommodate demand, limits have changed as follows:
    • One reservation per customer and one per demonstrator.
    • Because we are not limiting the maximum number of reservations for the second window, we will not offer a third window. This is the last chance for you and your customers to reserve a Stamparatus before it becomes available in the 2018-2019 annual catalog.

Please note what has not changed:

  • If you reserved more than one stamping tool during the first reservation period, that number will not change; you will still receive the same number you reserved. If you reserved one or more stamping tool(s) during the first reservation period, you may still order during the second window.
  • The reservation window will open at 2:00 PM (MT) on December 5.

We can’t wait for you to get your hands on your very own Stamparatus and look forward to seeing the projects you’ll make with this incredible stamping tool.

I’ve got all the information over on my Promotions page – including a super little video with lots of information on this wonderful new stamp placement tool.  Be sure to check it out – peruse the how-to-reserve-your-Stamparatus tutorial you’ll find there, and then mark your calendar for the next reservation window on 5 Dec!!

Finn Fan Fix

Today was The Big Excursion!  We drove north a ways to attend our Inkin’ Krew meeting.  It’s a long-isn drive – further than Finn’s been since we got him (well, except for the big drive bringing him home!).

Y’all.  He.  Was.  So.  GOOD!!!

He wiggled his little wiggler so hard I think it might be sprained.

And – as I type this on Sunday evening, he’s flat sacked out.  One tired little Man!

He greeted everyone – and all the ladies were so good to help me with our training – not petting him until he was settled down a little.  Thank you, ladies!

He gave hugs…

….he supervised the cutting station (he takes his work veeeerry seriously!)…

…gave a few more kisses….

…and then…he…napped.

What a good boy he is!!

  1. What a wonderful day it was for me too, being able to see everyone at the meeting, especially Finn; receiving an unexpected stamp set AND seeing Finn again at night and your beautiful card being made. I am so thankful for technology and how it can bring us together 8 hrs. away. Sorry I had to leave your video early, but I will watch when I get my set in January! Have a great day and hopefully a great week. I know I’ll see another fantastic card tomorrow. Thanks for sharing yourself with the world.

    • Thank YOU, Karen – for the kind words! It was so fun having you “at” our meeting yesterday – hopefully one day you’ll be able to join us in person!! But for now – yes, technology is a wonderful thing indeed!! Have a wonderful day and week. Hey to Perry! 🙂

Beautiful idea, beautiful card! Stunning! Of course, it appeals to all my favorites, birds, wood, leaves, pine, and even cableknit. I LOVE cableknit sweaters. Made a beautiful Fisherman’s sweater for my brother long ago. But, I digress. Sorry to miss the meeting and your video. Watched it this morning. Great video. I feel like I am missing out when I don’t get to ‘be there’ with all of you.
    Thanks for sharing finn also.
Sometimes I HATE technology, but where would we be without it? We wouldn’t be friends, that’s what.
Have a good MONDAY! (or is that an oxymoron?)

    • Yep – missed you yesterday!! Next time, though!! Thanks so much, Julie – I sort of figured you’d like this one! 🙂 And yes. That is most definitely an oxymoron!! 🙂
