Stampin’ Up! Warm Fuzzy Smitten Mittens

Well, hey, y’all!  It’s Saturday and I’m at work!  Bleh.

We were hearing the weather might go down today, so…no telling what we’ll accomplish.  Only time – and the weatherman knows.

Okay – the weatherman doesn’t have any more clue than I do, let’s just face it! 😉

But – in light of the fact that they were talking “wintry mix” today – I thought I’d make a card with some warm and fuzzy mittens taking center stage.  So – I pulled out my brand new Smitten Mitten stamp set and the matching Many Mittens Framelits and put one together.  Take a look-see:

I was – sort of loosely – inspired by the sketch challenge over at CAS(E) This Sketch.

I started with a piece of oh-so-appropriate mitten-covered DSP from the Be Merry DSP pack and Fast Fuse’d it onto a Garden Green mat.  Then I cut a smaller piece (this is actually the design on the back of the first paper!) and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  Around the seam, I wrapped a piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/4″ Double-Stitched Ribbon, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

Using the little snowflake stamp set in the Smitten Mitten stamp set, I inked it with Versamark and stamped it on a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock.  Then I sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  Once it had cooled, I outlined the image with my Fine-Tip Glue Pen and then sprinkled the glue with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.

Once again, I waited for it to dry completely and then cut it with the matching die in the Many Mittens Framelits set.  While I had the die out, I cut a Silver Foil snowflake as well.  I adhered that one to the card front with Liquid Glue and popped the glittery snowflake on with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

For the mittens, I inked up the sentiment mitten from Smitten Mittens in Cherry Cobbler ink and stamped it on Whisper White.  Then I cut it with its Many Mittens Framelits die.

I cut the detailed mitten from the Cherry Cobbler Be Merry DSP pattern and another solid mitten from Whisper White and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

I used a Glue Dot on the back of each mitten to adhere a short length of Silver Mini Tinsel Trim to each one and then popped them both on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I tied a small bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  To finish off, I added a few silver heart Metallic Enamel Shapes to the top of the card front and a silver round Metallic Enamel Shape to the snowflake – and the card was done!

On the inside, I stamped the little hearts image in Cherry Cobbler across the bottom of a Whisper White panel.  Then I added the snowflake – heat embossed in Silver.  A second sentiment from the Smitten Mittens stamp set, in Cherry Cobbler, topped it all off.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Garden Green mat and into my Cherry Cobbler card base (turns out that when you’re sitting a stone’s throw from the SU! Home Office – Second Day UPS is very fast!! ) popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Smitten Mittens hearts in Cherry Cobbler and some more Silver heat embossed snowflakes on the front…

…and a little more Be Merry DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Smitten Mittens and the Many Mittens Framelits.  What a cute bundle, heh?  Ever since I got to play with it at our last Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team meeting, I’d been anxiously awaiting its arrival!  And I’m so glad to finally have it in hand.  Hope you like!

And – not for nuthin’ – this cute Be Merry DSP (from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog) is one of the fun papers you can get in the DSP Sale!  Check the deets down below!

Finn-Fan Fix  (you’ll have to settle for re-runs until I get back home to take fresh photos!!)

Today (well – yesterday) I got to see a rare treat.  We’d heard these guys were hanging around the office area – there’s lots and lots of bunnies for their dining pleasure.

Momma….

And one of her two kittens.

I sent the pics to Wayne.  His reponse?

“We don’t need any more cats”!

Guess he knows me pretty well, huh? 😉

  1. Such a cute card and I’m so glad you have it in hand too…I saw what you did there. Oh, and those little snowflake do dads are the bomb! Cute kitties.

  2. Cute card! Wintery mix AND working on Saturday do not sound like a great day. Bummer. 🙁 So cool that you got to see the bobcats! I can’t believe that Wayne won’t let you bring them home! Ha!! 😉

  3. Kate

Merry wintry-mix card. Warms the cockles!
Woohoo…bobkitties. Yes, I guess Wayne has got your number. You would be like the lady in Garden Grove with the ocelot…😃. I suspect mamabob wouldn’t let you snatch one.

    • Surprisingly – hope you’re sitting down – the weather forecast was wrong. It was a gorgeous day! Thanks, Mom – and yes. He’s got my number for sure! 🙂

  4. Ellie Peckler

Mary, your card is so cheerful. I really like it! Sorry you are working (bleh) but what a neat photo op! – Ellie

  5. Super cute card! I think I need to add this set to my next order.

  6. Really cute card! Love it!

  7. Susan K

Yay for cherry cobbler and quick delivery! It’s the perfect color for these cute mittens. Hope the wintry mix holds off and you have a day off soon! Maybe with more pics, Wayne will see you really do need a “little kitty.”

  8. Great take on the sketch!

  9. So cool! Well, the card is too, but I meant the Bobcats! Wow! I saw my first real live one this spring. To get to see a kit too is fantastic. Wild cats do not make great pets! The fur would fly for sure if you took one home. I mean that literally!

    • Yea – I don’t think momma’s going to let me borrow one of her children anyway! 🙂 But it was so so cool!! Thanks much, Julie!
