Stampin’ Up! Christmas Happiness Eclipse Noel

Hey y’all – it’s HAAAWWWMP day!  As I type this on Tuesday evening, I’m thinking about my friends down in Florida – with no power.  Water in places water shouldn’t be.  No water in places it should be.

And that makes me feel pretty darned petty for being pissy cuz we haven’t had power since yesterday.  Waaa….yea.  I’m not proud of it.

We have a generator and lanterns and bottled water.  And we can keep our cold food cold.

So – we have it pretty danged good.  Like I said – not proud.

My card for today – which I kind of am proud of – is an eclipse-technique Christmas card using the Christmas Happiness stamp set and some Large Letters Framelits.  And yes, I had to use a little more plaid paper from the Christmas Around the World DSP.  Take a look-see.

I played along with this week’s Tic-Tac-Toe challenge – I went right across the center of the “board”.

I started with a panel of Whisper White card stock, lined up the Large Letters Framelits that spell “NOEL” and cut them with the Big Shot.

Once they were all cut, I laid the whole panel (including the letters) down on my squishy Silicon Craft Sheet, with two upside down sticky notes – making sure that the cut out letters were being held securely by the sticky notes.  That way they wouldn’t come up when I stamped them with the Christmas Happiness images.

I stamped the pine boughs in Old Olive – twice.  Then I added the small pinecone (outline) in Early Espresso.  Those are finished off with the fill-in image in Soft Suede.  If you make this – be sure to hold the stamps down for an extra beat to help eliminate the “halo” around the cut letters.

I made the raised letters first by cutting each of them two more times in Early Espresso card stock, then I stacked them up with Liquid Glue.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the stamped Whisper White panel (without the letters) onto an Old Olive mat.  When you do this – don’t forget the middle of the “O”!  Then I popped each stacked letter in place with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The card front is a piece of plaid paper from the Christmas Around the World DSP Fast Fuse’d onto an Old Olive mat.  Then I added the sentiment panel with Liquid Glue.

I wrapped some Linen Thread around the card front three times and secured it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I made a Billie Moan bow and adhered that with a Glue Dot.  I tied a second “regular” bow with three strands of Linen Thread and stuck that over the first bow with another Glue Dot.  It’s finished off with a Real Red dot from the Brights Enamel Shapes.  Adding three more little shapes finished off the card front.

On the inside, I added another Old Olive pine bough and an Early Espresso/Soft Suede pine cone from Christmas Happiness to a Whisper White panel.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Real Red card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Christmas Happiness pine bough and cone on the front…

…and I added some more of the plaid Christmas Around the World paper to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I can’t help it, y’all!  I love this Christmas Happiness stamp set.  And the plaid paper from Christmas Around the World.  And the eclipse technique.  So…I pretty much had to use them all again – together!!  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

Finn apparently loves Tropical Storms.

He acts like the driving rain and wind is just a way to get mud and puddles.  And mud puddles.  And mud hills.  And water on the ground (also known as puddles).

He loves mud and puddles.

So he’s spent the last couple of days running thru said mud and puddles.

And we’re going thru towels like crazy.

Which is bad – cuz as I type this on Tuesday evening we still don’t have our power back. So…no laundry!

But – ya gotta dry the dog.

Every.  Single.  Time.  He.  Comes.   In.

Which is a few!  Fortunately, he’s pretty good about it.

Walks in the back door and stops on the rug.

Are we doing this, Mom?

It didn’t stop raining, did it!?!?

Oh Mary! I adore this card! I am loving the eclipse technique too – but I don’t have the letter framelits – grrr! I guess I’ll try using the number framelits for an anniversary of birthday card. So sorry you are STILL without power – and oh, the mud and water – yuck! At least Finn is cooperative – lol! Our small city sent a team of utility workers south to help those without power – so hang in there!

    • Yes – do try with the Large Numbers! Would be great for a birthday or anniversary or….anything! 25 – Christmas! Thanks so much – we got a hot shower last night (magic of wiring!) so that always brightens the outlook!! 🙂

  2. What a beautiful card Mary! I love the clean design and that technique is too cool. Great design! 🙂

  3. Kate

I know I don’t need to say I love it! But lest there be any doubt, I LOVE it
You may not be proud, but I am -of your preparation and your resilience and your fortitude. If patience is lacking. I can only say “heredity will out”. 😕
That Finn. Maybe he could wield that towel himself…give him a minute.

  4. Gale S.

I am glad you added the tip about using the post its to hold the letters. I will do that whenever I get back into my craft room. I live in FL. Irma is not my friend. I didn’t have power (I finally got it back!) and I empathize with you. It makes life so much easier! Gotta respect those pioneers! Love everything about this card!!

    • I figure the pioneers didn’t know any different – they weren’t without power. They didn’t even know what it was! That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it. And yea – Irma was a booger! Happy stamping when you get home, Gale! 🙁 Thanks! 🙂

Love your card! The Large Letters framelits are on my wish list. So sorry to hear about the power out. I hope it comes back on soon for you.

  6. So Beautiful! I love Plaid for Christmas!

  7. Kate

Maybe a bit…likely have to reach back past me to that guy who pitched 19 innings to win by one! Mea culpa 100% in the patience dept. I’m workin’ on it!

  8. LOVE IT! I think your Mom and I could be sisters. Or something. Beautiful card. Haven’t tried the Eclipse technique. Guess I will have to.
Give the man time and he will not only stop on the rug, he will grab his own towel and roll around on it to get dried. 🙂

  9. Pam Kucab

I love the silhouette style cards. I’ve seen a few of them lately and the technique looks fairly easy, but so very pretty! I went to VA over the weekend and I saw numerous utility and tree trimming trucks heading south! Hopefully you will have power back soon.

    • That’s exactly right, Pam – easy but very pretty! Hope to see what you create! Thanks so much! And – we finally got power on Wednesday afternoon. Whew!! 🙂

  10. A lovely idea… very smart
