Stampin’ Up! Pretty Kitty Cat Punch

Mornin’, y’all!  Making our way thru the week – it’s practically the weekend again!

Not…

For today’s card, I played along with this week’s Global Design Project challenge – which was a CASE The Designer challenge.

And we even got to pick which designer to CASE.  I selected this card from Shawn de Oliveira.

I did change it up a little, but I kept many of the same elements.  I’ve been wanting to use the new Cat Punch (coming on 1 Sept!), so I used him over some Painted Autumn DSP.  Take a look-see:

Pretty Kitty Cat Punch - Stamps-N-Lingers 4

I started with a card base from a piece of Thick Very Vanilla card stock, and I ran just the front of the card thru the Big Shot inside the new Quilt Top TIEF.

Next up, I cut two thin strips of new Champagne Foil paper and adhered them (with a little bit showing) to the back of a panel of Painted Autumn DSP with some Liquid Glue (this was a paper-saving ploy – thanks, Shawn, for the idea! :))

I adhered the panel directly to the card front with Fast Fuse.

Then I started building my layers!  First up – a length of Pear Pizzazz 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon, which I doubled and adhered with a couple of Glue Dots.  Across that?  A short piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, adhered with some Liquid Glue.

The other night, in my video, one of the ladies suggested that the back of the new Foil Snowflakes is quite pretty.  And…she’s right!  So…I added one here – with the backside showing!

About the only time it’s okay for your backside to show, people. 🙂

Pretty Kitty Cat Punch - Stamps-N-Lingers 2

For my Vellum circle, I cut it out with the Starburst Punch, then embossed it in the Quilt Top TIEF.  I adhered it with Liquid Glue – keeping the glue where I knew it would be covered by my next layer…  the cat!  I punched him from the new Painted Autumn DSP with the new Cat punch.

I adhered him over the embossed Vellum circle with Liquid Glue.

My sentiment is from the Lovely Words Thinlits – I cut it three times and snipped it out of the resulting circle.  I did it twice in Very Vanilla and once in Champagne Foil, then I adhered them in a stack with Liquid Glue and added it over the cat.  And the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a sentiment from the Pretty Kitty stamp set – in Soft Suede – to the center of a Very Vanilla panel.  Across the bottom, I added more of the Painted Autumn DSP, matted on Champagne Foil.  I also added a little bit of snipped Foil Snowflake (yes, Nyoka – I dug it right out of my scrap bin!!).

Pretty Kitty Cat Punch - Stamps-N-Lingers 5

I Fast Fuse’d the panel onto a Champagne Foil mat and into my card base, and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Painted Autumn Cat Punch punch on the front…

…and more of the Painted Autumn DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Cat Punch is part of the Spooky Cat bundle – but it sure isn’t only for Halloween, is it??  I love it and hope it sticks around!  I hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

The last time we bought dog food – Sunday, when we realized we were completely out! – we changed proteins.  Recommendation by the trainer.  Change proteins – stay with the brand.

Seemed like a good idea.

I picked Whitefish as the protein.

Fail.

Epic epic fail.

My delicate little puppy refused to eat fish.

“I.  Am.  Not.  A.  Cat.”

“I eat MEAT!”

IMG_4279

“For example…smoked pork.  Like you’re eating!”

IMG_4280

“Is that Dad’s legs on my back?”

“Do I look like an Otto-Man??”

Guess he only likes to swim with the fishes – not in a “Family” way – not eat them…

He and Wayne went and exchanged the bag for beef.

Phew!!

  1. What a precious expression on that face! Ooh, and the face of your card…beautiful! Like your calico cat. I’m so glad I got that punch and paper. The fact that you redeemed the partial snowflake from the trash heap, warms my heart! Do you want to know how often I go dumpster diving? No, I didn’t think so 😉

    • Weeeellll – I hope the only dumpster into which you dive is your scrap bin!! Paper scrap bin! Thanks so much, Karen. And yes – he’s got “the look” down to an art form! 🙂

  2. What a beautiful card! The layering is fantastic…I almost missed the cat, he blended in so well. Love that fall paper! And I agree with Finn…fish are for swimming, not for eating. Yuck!! 😉

    • Ha – I actually got up at 2 this morning and started to re-do the whole thing with the dark DSP as the cat. But when I got to looking again – I decided I liked it the way it is. The photo does wash it out a little! Thanks, Amy – I really like this cat punch! 🙂

  3. Beautiful layers, Mary! Love this card and your details. they are perfect for a lovely fall card! Yes, I love fish, but don’t think of it as a dog’s choice!

    • Thanks much, Jari! I’ll tell you something about dogs and fish. If it’s in $30 a bag food – nope. Not touching it. If it’s the real thing – dead on the side of the pond…oh goodness!! It’s sushi!! It’s a delectable treat!! LOL!! 🙂

  4. Susan Phillips

Great card, I was not sure if I wanted the cat punch.  You have changed my mind.  Susan Less Phillips

    • You want it – I know you do! I hope it sticks around, there’s lots more to do with it than Halloween, for sure! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  5. Rosalie

I am with Amy, nearly missed that pussy cat, you are a sneak and to use your cut snow flake now that is something else. Did I say I loved the card and that sounds like an idea I will try with embossing the Vellum

    • I’m glad you found him hiding there – seems very…cat-like, yes!? I love embossing Vellum – this one looks like pearls, I think! Thanks so much, Rosalie! 🙂

  6. RitaR

I’m greatly enjoying the peeks from the holiday catty! That cat punch looks very interesting and unique! Mr. Finn surely can melt a heart with that “look” featuring adorable freckles and big sweet eyes!

    • I know – it’s his signature move! And he knows which parent to apply it to, too! 🙂 Thanks so much, Rita – this new catalog is amazing! 🙂

  7. Oh, so lovely! Love your layers AND the cat. Like Amy, I almost missed it. Great idea to use the calico instead of solid color. Much more effective. And, that Finn! He KNOWS he has THE LOOK! Too funny. You can almost look at that face and know what he is thinking.
“What? You want me to eat WHAT?! NO WAY! Where’s the beef?” 🙂

    • Yea – I’m glad I didn’t change it. I had a stuffed calico cat growing up – this reminded me of her! Thanks so much, Julie! Finn definitely wants the beef – and knows how to get it! 🙂

  8. Kate

Nope. Not a kitty. No way. Reminds me of the poor hound in “Shirley Valentine” whose family fed him meusli cuz they were vegans!!! Poor drulius critter until Shirley gave him a steak. Of course, didn’t go over too well with the husband whose dinner it was.
    Lovely little card too!

    • Yes – he’s pitiful. I promise if I gave him a piece of grilled tilapia – he’d muck it right on down! 🙂 Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  9. Elisha

Great card, Mary! I love the layers and attention to detail👍 So Finn’s not diggin’ the fish food? Well, at least you don’t have to endure fish scented dog breath 😂 (Sorry I’ve been MIA – lots of projects going on here)

  10. Such a beautiful card, Mary! I love all the layers and bits and pieces. The colors look great too. Thanks for the amazing CASE and playing along with Global Design Project.

  11. What gorgeous layering on your card, Mary! There’s a new surprise with every piece. Thank you so much for helping us to celebrate the 100th challenge of the Global Design Project! I’m glad you played along.

  12. Pam

Such a pretty card, Mary. I hate to repeat everyone else, but I love the layers! And the way you used the backside of the snowflake – it gives it a totally different look. I love all your funny comments and your sweet, sweet puppy!

    • Thank you so much, Pam – I really do appreciate all the nice words!! And I’m glad you like my goofiness and my sweet, goofy puppy!! 🙂
