Stampin’ Up! Moon Baby Showers of Happiness for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! We’ve got a full roster for today’s sketch challenge, so be sure to check ’em all out when you get done here!

Our task this week was to make something for you using three pretty colors.  Check them out!

I decided to let the good folks over at Freshly Made Sketches help me with my layout.

And since the color scheme sort of screamed “Bundle of Love DSP” – and I’m nothing if not a follower – I went the obvious route and made a baby card.  So – it worked out and I played along with the theme challenge at Just Us Girls.

I pulled out Moon Baby and yes, the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP and created a little baby shower card.  Take a look-see:

I’d seen a card out in ether-space a while back using strips of DSP for the card front, so I decided to try that with this one.  I cut 1″ wide strips of Bundle of Love DSP and laid them diagonally across a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Of course I did not take a picture of that.  Sorry!

The trick is to use Liquid Glue to adhere the strips – start with the strip in the middle and work your way out – do a good dry-fit before you glue them all down – and make your strips longer than you need.  Once all the strips are adhered good – then run the panel back thru your Stampin’ Trimmer and cut off the excess DSP.

Then I matted the panel on a piece of Gold Foil.

Next I adhered a new (available in the new 2017 Holiday Catalog) Foil Snowflake in Gold (they come in Silver and Gold), with a little Liquid Glue.  The next two panels are both made with Very Vanilla card stock.  The one has the stars image from Moon Baby stamped randomly across it in Blushing Bride and Soft Sky ink.  Then second – smaller – panel is embossed in the new Quilt Top TIEF (coming on 1 Sept in the Holiday catalog).  Both panels are matted on Gold Foil and then adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

My sentiment, from Moon Baby, is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and cut with the Pretty Label Punch.  Then I edged it with my Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it on the card front with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the baby, I heat embossed her twice in Gold – once on Very Vanilla and once on the Blushing Bride paper from the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP.  I fussy cut the Very Vanilla baby, and also her onesie and umbrella from the DSP image.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the DSP cut-outs to the Very Vanilla baby.  I creased the “rib” lines in the umbrella and put a Stampin’ Dimensional behind it.  She’s adhered with Liquid Glue and a couple of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished her outfit with a little bow of Very Vanilla Solid Baker’s Twine – and added some Blushing Bride and Soft Sky star Enamels Shapes.

On the inside, I did a little bit of a riff on my card front strip treatment on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  For this, though, I cut the strips down to 1/2″ wide, but the technique was the same.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Gold Foil mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some more Moon Baby stars in Blushing Bride and Soft Sky across the front…

…and then I added some more of the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I’d say this would be a great card for a baby shower – you could use the Soft Sky paper for a boy child.  It could even be a gender-reveal card – the color of the onesie/umbrella could be the clue!  I think the little babies in the Moon Baby stamp set are just darling – and they go so very nicely with the Bundle of Love DSP.  Hope you like!
