Stampin’ Up! Framed Fresh Florals Blooms & Wishes!

Good morning, my peeps!  Welcome to Tuesday and Day 2 of what I’m now calling The Final Countdown!  It helps if you say that to the tune of the song by the same name.  Way more impact! 😉

Yes, it’s true – I’m pretty sure I’ll be hitting the road on Friday (fingers crossed).  Somehow, I’m always awake early and raring to go on “go-home” day.  I’ll wait until it’s light and be pulling out of the hotel parking lot – so, with luck I‘ll be petting the wiggle-butt by Friday afternoon! Saturday at the very latest!  Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-HOO!

My card today is one of “those” cards.

You know.  The ones where you say “I’m just going to whip up a quick little card, use some pretty DSP and not overthink it”.  Those ones.

Well.  I did that.  And then I overthought it.  So it took a couple of hours – instead of the few minutes I planned.  But – it’s actually a “few minute” card, if you just make it straight up like it is.

I used some pretty Fresh Florals DSP and a few images from the Blooms & Wishes stamp set to make a card for “any” day.  Take a look-see:

Easy peasy!

I started by Fast Fusing a piece of Fresh Florals DSP to a Whisper White card stock mat.  Then I cut a scalloped oval with a die from the Ovals Layering Framelits and adhered it in the middle of the card front with Liquid Glue. Around that, I wrapped some Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon, securing it it in the back with tape.

For the frame, I cut a rectangle of Whisper White card stock, then used a Squares Layering Framelits die to cut out the middle.  To do that, I cut the square out of the top portion of the rectangle, then lined the die up using the impression left by the first cut and, making sure my frame was the same width all the way around, cut a second time.  Rectangular frame made with square dies! 🙂

I adhered the frame over the card front with Liquid Glue.

My art piece is a piece of Whisper White card stock, onto which I stamped a few images from the Blooms & Wishes stamp set in Powder Pink, Berry Burst and stamped-off-once Lemon Lime Twist.  Then I added the sentiment in Berry Burst over the top.

I cut the image out with the largest Stitched Shapes Framelits oval die and popped that over the scalloped mat and ombre ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The final piece is a bow tied in Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon and adhered with a Glue Dot.

On the inside, I used the same large flower image from Blooms & Wishes that I’d used on the front and, stamping it off once on scrap paper first, added it in Powder Pink to the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Then I matted a strip of Berry Burst Fresh Florals DSP on Whisper White and adhered that across the bottom.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Whisper White mat and into my Berry Burst card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Blooms & Wishes flowers across the front…

…and a bit more Fresh Florals DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Even though I worked harder at this one than I’d planned (“work” being a little too strong of a word, really!!), I think it turned out quite pretty!  I really like the Blooms & Wishes stamp set – it’s just a nice simple little grouping of pretty flower images and sentiments that you can mix and match to your heart’s content.  Hope you like!

  1. So pretty Mary! Love the stamping…and we all over think stuff sometimes. This one turned out great! 🙂

  2. Very Pretty. When I first saw this I wasn’t sure if I liked the color combo, but it grows on you and I have to say you did a fantastic job. The frame threw me at first, I just thought it was a mat. Very creative. Love it!

  3. Oh, to have hair like Joey Tempest! Europe and Abba are two of my favorite Swedish bands…but I digress…this is about this card that sings to me! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! I had a card we were going to make at group Thursday but I’m changing it to this one. I might make a change in color, but that’s about it. I know what you mean about the length of time…that happened to me yesterday so I didn’t even get a card posted. What I did accomplish, though, was to go thru my DSP share and arranged it alphabetically and according to the line-up display in the catalog…I am slightly OCD 🙂 Yes, I’m too am awaitingr the Final Countdown and the “live” Finn Fix. Have a great day!

When the result of overthinking is as beautiful as this card, let the overthink begin!

  5. Elisha

Oh yes – I know that card – sometimes my overthinking lands me in “analysis paralysis”. Lol! Glad that didn’t happen to you – it’s a beautiful card – love the touches of lemon-lime twist! Crossing my fingers that you get to go home this weekend!! Hang in there!

    • Thank you, Elisha! I HAVE to go home this weekend or I’ll have to do another $6 in laundry to have clean underwear! Just sayin’…. 🙂

  6. So pretty, Mary, and some days I way overthink! So I hear ya! That frame is great, I need to practice so that I can make one as perfect as that one! Beautiful colors, too.

  7. Paula Poindexter

Mary, Thank you for doing all the work for us! Will have to practice on the rectangle before attempting it for a card.
Hope the week moves quickly for you.

  8. Linda (Lin) Hense

Gorgeous, love the colors and frame.
    Safe travel home.

  9. Pam

Hello, Mary. My name is Pam – coming to you from NC. I am new to your site and I love it. I really like your card ideas and love your videos. You are so funny. I like that you do what you want because it’s your video! Personally, I like getting to know folks as opposed to being shown a card idea and that’s it. Anyway, beautiful card, as always. Fingers crossed you head home on Friday!

    • Hey Pam! Welcome – I’m so glad that you found me! And that you’re liking what I’m doing. Hope I can keep that up! Thanks so much! 😊

  10. Kathy L

Hi Mary-your frame confused me,too. I couldn’t follow your directions because there were too many layers on your example! 🤔 But once I read through to the frame part…ohhhhh. It’s a lovely card, and I suspect I’ll be casing it soon. Hope you’re home to your guys before long.

    • Ha – it occurred to me AFTER I made that frame that I could have accomplished a similar look without the extra cutting! Thanks so much, Kathy – enjoy the CASE! 🙂
