Stampin’ Up! Colorful Seasonal Layers Centerfold Card

Hey y’all – good morning!  I’m really sorry I wasn’t able to do the FB live video last night – we got off work later than I’d planned.  And I had to be back early this morning.  I hope you’ll understand!

I’ll try to be back on next Sunday – and we’ll do this card, or a different one!  It’ll be a surprise! 🙂  Let me know if you want to see how to do this one – or a different one entirely!!

I saw a pretty card on another blog-site (seriously can’t remember which one – is it Christmas?  Tuesday?  Don’t know if I’m coming or going!!) that was a centerfold card using the Delightful Daisy bundle.  I decided to try one with the Colorful Seasons bundle.  And some Whole Lot of Lovely DSP.  Take a look-see:

These are a lot like a regular gate card – but the “gates” are narrower – so you can see the inside of the card!

I started with a piece of Basic Black card stock – cut to 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″.  I scored and folded it twice – at 1 5/8″ from each end, along the long side.

The gate panels are two pieces of Whole Lot of Lovely DSP, matted on Tangerine Tango card stock, and adhered with some Liquid Glue to the front of the gates.

The inner liner is a piece of Whisper White, matted on Tangerine Tango.  I laid it inside the card, where I planned to adhere it.  Then, I closed the gate panels and, using the sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, added that in Basic Black Archival ink.  I let the closed gate panels give me the “spot” that the sentiment wanted to go.

To decorate the outside of the card, I cut three branches from Basic Black card stock, using the die in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  I also cut one from Pear Pizzazz card stock.  I stacked them all up, adhering them with Liquid Glue and then I added it to the “top” gate panel.  I made the branch so thick in order to give it a little protection, since it extends over the edge of the gate.

I used a few flower dies from Seasonal Layers to cut some from Pool Party, Tangerine Tango and Powder Pink card stock, plus some in Whisper White. I adhered them together with Liquid Glue, smushed the middles in lightly with a stylus, and stuck them on the branch with – yes! – Liquid Glue! A few Glitter Enamel Dots for the flower centers finished that embellishment off.

Using the adirondack chair die in Seasonal Layers, I cut two chairs – one in Basic Black and one in Pool Party.  I adhered them together and then to the “bottom” gate with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the front of the card.

Going back inside, using Sticky Notes to protect the Tangerine Tango mat, I stamped two branches in Soft Suede, using the image in the Colorful Seasons stamp set.  Then I added some flowers in Pool Party and Powder Pink.  The Pool Party flowers are two-step images.

I SNAILd the panel inside the card base, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Colorful Seasons branch and flowers – in Soft Suede and Powder Pink – on the front…they look just like cherry blossoms, don’t you think??

…and another piece of Whole Lot of Lovely DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is really a super easy fun-fold card to make – and I love how the die cuts extend into the opening created by the gate panels.  I think the Colorful Seasons Bundle works perfectly for it, don’t you?  Hope you like!

  1. I’m so glad I didn’t miss you! This card is great and I will try to make it with one of my PP kits I have with me. This particular DSP is one of my favorites and I DO have that set. I ordered it from you just before we left. I would like to see you do a different card because I love the “tease” part of it. Your harvest is amazing. Have a great week.

    • Gotcha! Different card with a tease!! I think we can make that happen! Have fun making this card with the stuff you have with you – I can’t wait to see the resulting beauty!! 🙂 Thanks, Karen – and you, too! 🙂

  2. Beautiful card! And a little bit different. You did a great job with it. So, What is Wayne doing with all the harvest is you aren’t there to freeze, can or whatever? I know, that is a little off subject. Is all that from your garden??

    • Thanks, Julie! And yes – all from my garden! It’s doing gang-busters this year! He charred and froze the chiles in two batches so we can make chile relleno casseroles thru the winter. I haven’t broken to him yet about blanching and freezing my squash! I wish I was there to cook it up with some onion and bacon! Yumm-o!! 🙂

  3. Love, love, love this card, Mary. The papers and details are wonderful and I do like that fold, too. Will have to try it. Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. Very cool card, love the peek through sentiment! Great colors too. And oh my…if I were planning to be down your way this week, I’d be happy to help Wayne out with some of your produce. Guess you need to leave him in charge of the garden tending in the future!! 😉

  5. RitaR

Gorgeous card with lots of great design elements! Love it! I was just wondering when your chilies would be ready for harvest since you blogged about how much you love them! They certainly are beautiful! Happy Independence Day …. hope you’ll get the day off from work. I understand from an earlier blog post that you served full time in the military … thank you for your service to our country! God bless America!!

    • Thanks so much, Rita – it was my honor and pleasure! 🙂 The chiles look so good – can’t wait to eat them! And yes – I do think we’ll get tomorrow off! 🙂

  6. Susan K

I love the way the flowers and chair extend over to flow inside. Beautiful!
I’m with Karen–I like the tease so vote for another card. Hope today is easier at work!

    • Yea – I was pleased with how this one turned out! 🙂 And – gotcha. Two votes for a tease and a new card! 🙂

  7. Really pretty card, Mary. Love the paper and the inside details, too!

  8. Sandra Warthen

One of my favorite papers. Love how the card came out. You never cease to amaze me!

  9. Elisha

Beautiful card! I think I have everything I need to CASE it😆 Love it!! So – are those poblanos? Yum!!

    • Thanks, Elisha – have fun CASEing it! Yes. Those are Poblano chiles. Ancho Magnifico is their name and they’re wonderful. Wonderful growers and wonderful tasting! 😊

  10. Debra Anderson

Love, love, love it. I had to make one immediately ( with my own twist). It is truly a beautiful card. Thanks for sharing!

    • Thanks so much, Debra – and so glad that you made one, too! I’d love to see a picture of it! 🙂

      • Debra Anderson

I would be happy to send you a picture but I am “tech-challenged”. Lol
How would I do that? The picture is on my phone.

      • HaHa! If it’s an iPhone, tap the picture and select it. Then click on the little thing at the bottom that looks like a page with an arrow coming up. You can email the photo from there. Send it to my stamps-n-lingers@comcast.net account! 😊
