Stampin’ Up! Floral Statements and Birds Thanks

Hey, y’all!  How’s the week going?  Mine’s going – we’re getting things started at work.  Slowly.  But it’s going!

I made today’s card using the new Floral Statements stamp set and some watercoloring.  And then I added a couple of birds from the Best Birds stamp set and matching Birds & Blooms Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

Now – my color palette came from the Color Throwdown challenge this week – but I missed the deadline to enter.  Which doesn’t change the fact that it drove my color choices!

And the bird theme is from The Paper Players challenge.

I started out by embossing a piece of Crumb Cake card stock in the new Garden Trellis TIEF and then SNAILing it DE-bossed side up to a Lemon-Lime Twist mat.

The art layer is from the Floral Statements stamp set.  I stamped the image in Night of Navy ink onto a Crumb Cake panel.  Using my Aqua Painter, I pulled color from the image outlines into the rest of the image.  Love the faded vintage look that gave me, don’t you?

I used the Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker to darken the letters up a bit – and brushed them with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  Then I matted it on Lemon-Lime Twist card stock and popped it over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I wrapped a piece of new Pool Party 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My birds, from the Birds & Blooms Thinlits, are both cut in Pool Party card stock.  Then I used some Liquid Glue to adhere them over Lemon-Lime Twist card stock and fussy cut them.

I popped the large bird on with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals and the smaller with just Liquid Glue.  Then I brushed them both with the Clear Wink and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the branch from the Best Birds stamp set in Crumb Cake on a Very Vanilla panel.  I pulled the color into the branch with my Aqua Painter and used my Lemon-Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker to color the leaves.  I cut two more of the Birds & Blooms small birds – just like the one on the front – and perched them on the branch with Liquid Glue.

I SNAILd the panel to a Lemon-Lime Twist mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a Pool Party bird from the Best Birds stamp set, with wings colored with my Lemon-Lime Twist Stampin’ Write Marker…

…and then I embossed the envelope flap in the Garden Trellis TIEF.

Et Voila!  I love this Floral Statements stamp set – and a quick pull of color using an Aqua Painter gives big impact tout-suite!  And who wouldn’t want to see a Pool Party and Lemon-Lime Twist bird?!?  Hope you like!
