Stampin’ Up! This Little Piggy Thought She Could!

Good morning, y’all!  Happy Tuesday.

I’m going to try to quell my normal over-sharing chattiness – I’m starting this post at 10 o’clock!  For those of you who’ve been following along – you know I’m a pumpkin at about 9!  Finn’s already sawing logs -he’s in the kitchen with us, lending moral support, but he’s sound asleep.  Wayne and I are wrapping ribbon!

And…wrapping ribbon.

Soon, we’ll wrap a little more ribbon.  I can tell you we’ve got some gorgeous new ribbon in this catalog, folks!!

Yes, you heard me right.  Wayne is helping me wrap ribbon!  He’ll thank me if we get to go on that Alaska cruise next summer!  🙂

So – my card uses the funnest (yes, that’s a word.  I’m pretty sure!) new stamp set in the catalog.  It’s called This Little Piggy. I combined it with a little of the new Coffee Break DSP.  And a few other new little goodies.  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired by the Global Design Project sketch challenge:

I started with a piece of wood-grain-looking paper from the Coffee Break DSP and matted it on a piece of Powder Pink card stock.

For my art, I first cut a Copper Foil “doily” with a couple of Eastern Medallions Thinlits.  I first ran the Copper Foil thru the Big Shot with two large Eastern Medallions dies.  Then I used the largest smooth-sided circle in the Circles Layering Framelits to cut the medallion out.  Using my Paper Snips, I carefully trimmed the circle off – leaving me with a “doily”!  If you’re a visual person, here’s a link to a video where I show you how to do it!

I wrapped two lengths of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim around the card front, securing them in the back with scotch tape and I used a few Glue Dots under the Lace Trim above the art to bring the two pieces together – you’ll see why in a minute.   I used some Liquid Glue to adhere the Copper Foil “doily” over the top.

Next up is a circle that I cut from Powder Pink card stock with the new Starburst Punch.  It was pretty, but a little plain…so I embossed it with the cool new Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF.  Then I popped it over the Copper “doily” with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the little piggy from This Little Piggy on some Thick Whisper White card stock, in Powder Pink ink.  Then I fussy cut her with my Paper Snips.

Using my Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil and a Blender Pen, I added some little cheeks and shaded her ear.  I colored her hooves with my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker.

She’s wearing pantaloons.  I suppose it could be a tutu – but in our family, those be pantaloons!  I ran a short strip of Fast Fuse across her little pork belly and then added the Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim, pleating it a little as I went.  I trimmed the excess with my Paper Snips.

I used a little bit of Liquid Glue and a few new Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere her to the Powder Pink circle.  And – I don’t know if you can see it, but I brushed her wings with some Clear Wink of Stella!

The sentiment, also from This Little Piggy, I heat embossed in Copper on Whisper White, then I cut it out with the Classic Label Punch and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I tied a bow from the Lace Trim – and adhered it over that place where I pulled the two lengths together with the Glue Dot – with another Glue Dot.  Makes it look like I actually tied the two lengths together with that bow.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I heat embossed a second sentiment from This Little Piggy in Copper in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Over the top, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added a part-of-a-piggy in Powder Pink.  I colored her same as the lady on the front.

I SNAILd the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Miss Piggy on the front…

…and a touch more of the Coffee Break DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Seriously – how cute is This Little Piggy??  And – there are more darling images and fun sentiments in the set, too.  You’re going to want to grab this one up!  Hope you like!

  1. When I saw this set in the new catty I showed it to Perry and he gave it the stamp of approval to go on my future list. You did a marvelous work of art on this card. It was really neat how you shaded her and dressed her. The ribbon and bow are fantastic. I saw a video of a demo who had to go out of town for awhile. Her husband surprised her and showed up at the hotel with their dog. I thought of you. I bet they didn’t have 3 horses and two cats to care for!

    • It’s a great little stamp set, for sure! I love everything in it! And you will, too. No – probably not. Having the horses adds a whole ‘nuther level of difficulty! A girl can wish, though!! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

🙂 Spoken like a proud parent!
A-DOR-ABLE card! I have a question mark by this one. May have to change it to an x. (X in my catty means ‘order this’.) Of course, since we used to raise pigs, and when I was a kid, it was my job to ‘slop’ them…..it figures I might want to get this one. Sometimes you just have to do ‘cute’! Great color combo too.
I LOVE the pantaloons, which is a much cuter term than tutu.

    • Definitely change that question mark to an x! You’re going to want this in your tool chest! Thanks so much, Julie – and…I just figured pantaloons seemed right for an Aussie parent! 🙂

  3. juliejphoto

Oh, yes, I forgot!! GREAT fussy cutting!!

  4. I love it!! That sentiment is quite fitting…yet I know that you can see the boat and soon you’ll be on it!! 😉 Have fun wrapping and wrapping and wrapping! It will all be worth it. 😀

  5. Kathleen VanDeVeere

Very good card. Would have been wonderful for Jessie.
    Wayne the wrapper. Who knew?
Finn the good boy…and that we all knew!

    • I think he wants his kitchen table back. And a clear shot thru the kitchen without knocking paper stacks off!! And I keep enticing him with the thought of a cruise…. Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  6. RitaR

Miss Piggy’s pantaloons brought this cute card right over the moon; what a great way to add dimension and interest!! Love it! I agree that Finn looks so grown up! We’ve just added a 8-week-old collie to our household (we named him Buddy) and I know it won’t be long before he, too, looks all grown up!

    • Yep. One day you’ll glance over and see an adult where a puppy just was! It goes so fast. Congrats on your new addition. And thanks for the kind words! 😊

  7. SO cute and I love your imagination with those pantaloons. Thanks so much for sharing your talents and joining in with this week’s Global Design Project!
